How would people like to play as a marine? I was thinking in multiplayer you could play as marines in some type of conquest game mode and after enough score you could play as your spartan. Difference between them would be the obvious, as a spartan you would have shields, move faster, jump higher and abilities of your choosing. As of the marines being more like swat (only health bar) but quicker to prone and could play as medics, techs, support… just an idea i was playing with.
That gamemode could work with ODSTs, where I would like to see playable Marine(s) is not in Infinite but perhaps in a spin-off title focusing on struggles of regular humanity in midst of all the battles going on around the Halo universe.
Halo has traditionally tried to maintain an even playing field with the gameplay centered around playing as a Spartan Super Soldier. I honestly wouldn’t mind playing as a marine like back in Halo 3 ODST though. Never know, since ODST was liked, there might be another side game in the future (I really hope so though).

If you are referring to my post then I still like to separate the 2 given ODSTs have training which is on its own level & they pretty much are top of the human troops without going to supersoldier levels.
And usually with the term Marines its usually referred to the more common foot soldiers in the games, even troopers are referred as marines more commonly than ODSTs are even though ODSTs are subcategory of UNSC marine corps while troopers are part of the UNSC army.
So, with their own type of missions, near suicide even, & their capabilities I would argue ODSTs are more than regular Marines in fancy armor in the Halo lore.
Basically, It’s like comparing Navy SEALs to US Marines, as far as I have understood US armed forces structure, using US as reference given their units are likely more known by name than what there are in my country.
Basically, it could be said that SPARTANs are just Marines with fancy armor & some fancy schmancy body enhancements using that logic, it just sounds a bit degrading.
And as to why I would prefer ODSTs over Marines otherwise than lore capabilities, pretty much for their access of more various equipment, in addition to that fancy armor, as you referred it.
It would just even the odds a bit if ODSTs were to be used against SPARTANs.
Regardless of the outcome, I’d that would be really cool to be able to play as something that’s not a spartan super soldier. Sure, Spartans are cool and all, but being able to play as a marine, or better yet, an ODST, would be really great in my opinion. Wether it be for campaign, or multiplayer. That’s one of the reasons why I liked Halo ODST so much. Idk why but there was just something about not being as fast and hyperactive (if that’s the right term for it) as a spartan that made it so unique.
I think playing as a Marine in the Halo spin off games will be a perfect direction to go after Halo Infinite. I have been hoping that 343 Industries can start planning to do the Halo spin off games where Marines and ODST Troopers are the main characters. It will be awesome if there’s going to be another Halo ODST video game. I can also see a Halo third person shooter video game going in a Ghost Recon and Gears of Wars style where you can play as a Marine.
If we’d get a Halo battle royale: sure. I’d rather play Marines and ODSTs in a game like that and have it be different than regular Halo multiplayer. But in Infinite…meh. Not sure I’d want that. Rather have Elites return if we really need more character models.
