Let me tell you this. All pay to win games you are thinking have ridiculous weapons as an option to buy. They are providing you the option to buy it just like Halo 5. While you are saying Halo 5 Warzone is not pay to win and REQ packs are optional, why do you bash other games for being the same? How is Halo 5 fine and other games don’t?
You know “REQ energy” has nothing to do with this and invalid argument for this, because it’s just like kill streak system, which in Halo 5’s case more you do, more better items you can use. It makes it even worse when one team is dominating, like farming, and reach REQ energy level to maximum and another gets nothing to fight back, because they are stuck with low level.
One big difference even with this mythic hoopla going on is its not an exclusive. Try warframe where there are certain weapons only obtainable by money and no in-game currency. These mythical can still be earned in game and aren’t exclusive. I’ll also add just because someone has 50 nornfangs doesn’t mean they’re good at the game. Pay to win generally gives you a guarantee, with halo 5s mythic going on sale it’s simply upping the opportunities to use high tier weapons and quite frankly, I see it helping rather than hurting but that’s just me. We’re 10 months in this game to where your high tier players already have a -Yoink- ton of everything and they really don’t need to even buy reqs cuz they’re already stacked on hundreds of thousands of rp like I am. I rather see it helping the players who lack in reqs but only if they’re able to even meet the req requirements Late game.
For or the most part my stance from launch hasn’t changed, it’s not pay to win due to various reasons I’m sure you know. But…,had this been out from h5s first week, then I’d actually have a different stance on how this works. If this were to occur on say halo 6s first week, you’ll have players have a dozen mythical right from the get go where as those who don’t pay have to hope rng gives them even just one mythic. It makes the it’s few months hell potentially.
So in short, it’s not pay to win (now)due to h5s long time after launch, but there most definately can be an arguement for it if it would’ve been the first week of the games launch. This current issue also proves that 343/Microsoft are attempting to get more aggressive on what to put out. It’s up to the warzone players tho cuz I play arena and could care less what happens to warzone cuz it’s far from its potential if you ask me. But yes/no is my anwser. Just depends on how you look at it.
FYI: just for funsies, seeing favyrn and some other you tubers mention how this could potentially happen actually happen, it’s quite funny seeing their reactions to it. “Didn’t want to say I told you so! But I told you so”. Even if it’s not direct lol.
Because this game is not Pay to Win. A real pay to win game is like Planetside 2 where the better guns are required to even stay relevant in the game. Halo 5 is fine because the weapons and other stuff are easy to unlock, it’s just there are a lot of stuff in there. Super Power Weapons like Prophet’s Bane and the Nornfang aren’t really required to achieve victory and are not infinite use. It’s not worth to buy req packs with real money since there really is no requirement for each of the req items and that you only get 1 time use cards. Whats even more interesting is of course you don’t need to buy req packs if all you play is Arena. It is more required for Warzone.
Planetside 2 is like grinding for 3 months for a single weapon, and then there are the attachments and what not when it’s so much easier to buy it with cash that is used for in-game credits, but in reality 100 dollars worth of in-game credit only gets you like a battle pack or a couple of weapons.

No pay to win game guarantees you to win, try and find one game where you pay money and no doubt you win, pay to win is being able to pay money for a signifigant advantage, like mythics. No other games you call pay to win have a system that diffrent from buying req packs.

If the other team was farming and farming effectively, no amount of Mythics would save you.
You can come at me with a Hannibal Scorpion, and I’ll pull out my trusty Plasma Pistol to win.
Halo 5 isn’t pay to win. Even paying for an advantage only works if the higher weapons are undeniably better than anything below it.
Also, throughout all of this, how do you know people on your team hasn’t thrown a lot of money at the game?
Way I see it, if someone drops a butt-load of money on one of these packs and pulls out a Prophets Bane every minute or something…its just more stuff for me to steal from their corpse. Avcam only works so well…and my DMR out-ranges your sword.

You should be thanking people who are dropping money on this game since thanks to them everyone is benefitting from free DLC.

No, I see them fueling the fire of corporate greed.
But the free dlc is a step forward, it’s just everything they gave us has either been cut content, or the req drop stuff so they can get more money.
I am thankful when people are honest and humble, but infection, PVE, more dev maps, these should have been in at launch. I cant be Thankful when there asking us to be greatful for the game being compleated after we buy it. I want them to make a game complete with all sorts of cool and fun features for all gamers at launch. The way they did halo 5, it caters to the competitive crowds, which they can make more money on. Splitscreen and no playable elites? Screw whoever thought that was a good idea to take out. I don’t care about any “60fps” nonsense, put all your man powe towards those things.
Forge I can forgive, but 343 should dump more man power into that to.
