Halo is a game about map control. Map Control and Actively Zoning go hand in hand with each other.
Halo is also not COD, where active zoning is a bad strategy in that game and being very mobile is good. It’s quite the opposite for Halo.
If you don’t believe me, then watch the HCS Tournaments. In Slayer game modes the winning team always stick near power weapon spawns. People seem to think Halo is COD now and that’s where this “staying in one area is bad” mentality is coming from. There is ZERO map control in COD, as all maps are 3 lane hallways in COD and Power Weapons don’t spawn on the map.
So please, next time you make a “Camping is bad” thread. Make sure it’s actually because it’s an overpowered and unbalanced position. Which will still come down to your overall skill level in halo. If someone can hold a camping position without much actual fighting to gain control for it. You’re just bad at Halo.
EDIT: Changed camping to Active Zoning to divide confusion.
“Pitchin’ a tent” should be a medal. I think it was an achievement in Halo 4.

It was an achievement in Halo 4 I believe. It was either that or Reach.
there is a difference in being active in a position and camping though, like…
if you get a shotgun and crouch around a corner waiting=camping
use the rig for my next example, grab sniper and move around the stairs accessing the various platforms and upper levels= active within a position
same example, standing motionless on the ledge near caster spawn or getting a sniper and standing on caster and not leaving the small wall/barrier=camping
the worst is the upper level on Pegasus, get a sniper and climb the stairs, you control the entire game
camping is all about lack of movement, controlling an area that’s a medium sized area is one thing but hiding and waiting (not being active) is the lowest of low and people who do it should be kicked have a perma-ban if that’s there strategy
everyone hides at one point or another, weather its to evade a chasing opponent and get the jump, or crouching behind cover to recover shields. When your mission is to grab a scattershot/shotgun or a sniper and say in a small corner/platform/ledge…that’s when most people get mad
Lol. You’re the same type of person that bates your teammate in doubles and thinks it’s a legitimate strategy. Please. There’s no excuse to camp.
Camping isn’t holding a base or weapons spawn. It’s hiding behind a doorway with a shotgun, sitting in the corner of a room with a saw, or at the top of a ramp with rockets. Oh and if you do that you’ll kill me once, I’ll come back, kill you…squat on your corpse a few times and then swing back by every couple of minutes to do it again.

-Yoink!-=the sweetest revenge
Camping is sitting in a corner/nook/cranny. It isn’t map control. It’s corner/nook/cranny control.
Map control is another idea by itself.
Complaining about complaining is still complaining
Do I get an award now? I can be mod?

Honorary forum moderator certificates are self-awarded. Don’t you know?

Hours motivating myself in the mirror are paying off, I am a winner mom!
I like how you can tell how long someone has been a halo fan in this thread…

Is it me because I’m so sweet?
Just a premonition. I have a vision of cookies. And complaining about complaining. I can’t quite put it together yet

Remember how I mentioned non-constructive posts a few minutes ago? And how they don’t help at all? Yeah…
I really do love cookie, they (she?) Just doesn’t know it
In all fairness, what’s “non-constructive” is sometimes someone just having a lighthearted moment. Sometimes the response seems a bit heavy handed, it’s a forum about a video game. I think we take it too seriously sometimes.

and without cheating and looking at my other posts how long have I been a halo fan?
Camping in Halo started with Halo 2. I don’t think it’s that bad overall in H5 but shotgun campers drive me crazy. Overall it’s fine. Outside of Pegasus, there are usually effective counters for campers. I just think it’s such a boring way to play the game. I won’t do it for that reason. I once picked up a teammate that kept asking me to camp in Overgrowth (back when there was a shotgun and sword) and was frustrated I wouldn’t listen. Never played with him again.
