To my fellow International (Non-US) players:

Will you please join me in attempting to get 343’s attention regarding yesterday’s matchmaking changes.

I have been playing since launch day from Sydney, Australia and have had some of the best multiplayer experiences since Oddball on Lockout back in Halo 2. The connection has been perfect, arguably better than any individual player host on Halo 3. I haven’t had a shooter match this quality in a really long time.
The community update that went live yesterday morning has dampened my experience. I was finding games with lan-like connection within 1 minute of searching. I now get games instantly but the lag is unparalleled, with people teleporting and lunging like no tomorrow.

I understand the desire to appeal to the casual market by allowing them to jump in and out of games at a rapid pace, but this is beyond acceptable. The community update also stated that they “turned off the changes” until they could fix the parameters - yet I have not been on a local server since I started playing this morning. We went in with a fireteam of 4 to be put on US host 3 Team Arena games in a row. That’s a Saturday afternoon (Australian Eastern Standard Time), one of the busiest times of the week and you’re telling me we got paired with Americans because there were no other matches available? I was playing at 6am on a Thursday and I had perfect connection with 2 minute search times.

I understand that a “Prefer good connection” is very unlikely to be added any time within the near future, but I am extremely disappointed with the behind-the-scenes changes that have been made today as it has ruined my online multiplayer experience.

On the flip side, 343 has done extremely well conversing with the community since launch day, and I am very grateful for the introduction of new maps to each of the playlists. I am just hoping for some transparency regarding this issue.

Kind regards, OneBraveTeemo

Yeah i agree, I’m from Scotland UK and whatever they turned off made it worse.

I’m sick of playing US host. If they had to play on EU host all day they’d change it pretty damn quick.

Like many said before, they should add a region selector like Titanfall. This way you would play only against people in the same region, and if someone can’t find matches then there’s the option to go to a different region.

Titanfall worked great that way.

If you wouldn’t mind upvoting this post on Reddit, that would be extremely helpful.

I don’t use reddit and the general consensus in that thread is disgusting. What are we “fuilthy casuals”? We are those who paid for this game and want to play it.

Titanfall did it right.

I am from Singapore. Usually the connection is good for me. But tonight, it’s starting to act like MCC. I am so pissed off right now about this. I didn’t know Titanfall has that feature, but it sounds amazing and makes me wonder why that was not thought of with Halo. I hope things will improve soon because the only reason I bought an xbox one is because of Halo. If this game isn’t going to work then… What a bloody waste of money.

Yeah, or they could put it back the way it was before but make it so that, if somebody joins a friends overseas fireteam, they have agreed to put up with any lag associated with playing on an overseas server. Just make it go off of the region of the fireteam leader.

They’re saying that they changed the matchmaking preferences to appease the casual gamers who are impatient and just want to find a game in 10 seconds and don’t really seem to care (or even notice) if it lags at all. They play a couple of games and then go do something else for days/weeks on end and then come back and play a couple more games
Meanwhile, those of us that have been playing consistently since day one, and will continue to play daily, get screwed over by the dodgy matchmaking that just throws you into the first open game it sees, with no consideration made to how good/bad the connection might be.

Have you paid any attention to the other threads? People can’t play AT ALL. Not in 10 seconds, not in 10 minutes, not in 10 hours.

This is the dumbest and lousiest reasoning I have ever heard.
