There are some people who consider Halo Infinite to be a dead game. Despite the constant negative press it receives, the game still has a community of players—myself included—that hop on often enough to be called a dedicated population. So, out of curiosity, I thought I’d ask…
…what’s the main reason you still play Infinite? Whether it be for campaign replays, BTB, Forge, custom games, or Ranke—nah, not that—I’m curious to see the different takes on what makes the game worth coming back to.
For me, it’s the gameplay. The gunplay is clean and the movement is as smooth as butter. I play a little bit of everything, so I can’t hone in on one game mode that really hits home for me. But I really enjoy Infinite, despite its shortcomings and issues.
I play once a week with a couple long time friends. It’s hard to say what it is, but we’ve now played Infinite longer than we played H4 and H5. I don’t really play it solo much anymore, but I am still having fun with it.
We’re still holding out hope for action sack and big team heavies.
I say the core mechanics are better than Halo 5’s thrusters. I didn’t hate the thrusters, but every map had to play around them. Infinite’s map plays around less obvious pathing.
I say when it comes to content, THEN Halo infinite dropped the ball from Halo 5.
I don’t play infinite any more. I stick to MCC now, the far superior Halo game BTW… But in infinite I like the fiesta playlist, just wish behemoth would come up more, it’s actually fun and more vehicle friendly than the btb maps… Speaking of btb it’s alright but the maps just feel the same so it gets stale kinda quick. Rumble pit games in Infinite were ok but it’s rotational. I would come back in infinite if they said hey we are adding a lot of new and better multiplayer maps, heck even if they are old maps just brought back.
It’s slow paced and has hip firing instead of forced ADS like all the CoD copy-cats out there since late 2000, but that’s about it, I don’t cate about Halo as a franchise/universe, never did, which is the reason I am able to see all the things that are so wrong/outdated with the game and why Halo it irrelevant in modern day and age, without a serious reboot the MP will remain a niche game played only by a tiny playerbase of die-hard fans who are driven by nostalgia. But I’ve put the game on hold and I’m just waiting for S3, and if crossplay is still there I’m definitely uninstalling the game.
I mostly play MCC, but I come back to Infinite occasionally, usually when there’s an event going on. I think it’s overall a fun game, even if it’s not my favorite Halo.
I was still having a lot of fun in BTB for a long time, but I’m tired of broken vehicle spawns giving one team a bunch of tanks and the other team no tanks. There’s nothing fair or competitive about that for either side.
I’ll play regularly again when MM has a stream of new BTB maps and the vehicle spawns are fixed.
I love the variety a halo game gives, from social to rank to customs and creative freedom with forge, no other game has all this to offer and look as good as halo. I know there’s a lot of haters but they are all cry babies, best fps game out there no matter what everyone says.
For me, its not necessarily about the game as much as it is the universe itself. Regardless of what Halo game I play or who made it or how bad or different it is, its still the same universe of Halo I know and love.
FOMO (Fear of missing out)
It’s the only reason I come back to the game is because they’ll add something to the game like a weekly Ultimate reward or event. I used to enjoy earning items, but now? Honestly it has removed any joy from the game. It feels soulless, and I don’t think I’ll be coming back for much longer.
I enjoy playing against opponents and trying my best. I play in the Halo Rec League with my irl friends and brother. I enjoy playing all the game modes and different game types. I’ve been playing Halo since I was 7 years old. I absolutely love the game and enjoy the competitive scene.
Same here, I have gotten down to only playing once a week and that is for the rewards. Started playing less due to all the frustrations I would get from the inconsistencies with this game online. However, every week when I come back it seems like the game is slowly getting worse with bad servers, melees not working, and what feels like overall general lag in the game. At this point I’m in the same boat where I don’t know how much longer I can keep coming back…its really not worth all the frustration.
