Its really simple guys/girls. Play a playlist that is the best for you, in this case my thread is pointing toward people blowing up the forum with sprint hate.
Just play MLG!!! Problem solved. And the reason they put sprint in the game is because believe it or not, there are more casuals than hardcore. Thats it. Play MLG.
MLG isnt the majority people, i love sprint because i love objective based game types. Without sprint invasion would suck because there just isnt enough time, especially the first objective, to plod at such a slow rate to an objective. People that hate sprint hate change, get over it its a new game the mechanics arent broken just not what you are used to

Now using bad map and gametype design to defend sprint. Man, you guys are getting desperate.
And Why wouldn’t you just increase base speed? You would get to the objective just as fast.

What a rubbish generalization. I like how your post doesn’t have any logical reason behind why sprint should be removed.
Contradictory.
Also, regarding your next post, Reach has had the second highest population in any Halo game, fact. Maybe even first, since Halo 3’s system was very very inaccurate, compared to Reach’s active roster and distribution of stat API’s.

The reason it would suck is because the normal movement speed is so slow. If they increased that, it would be much better.

Syphilis (or something like that) already said that twice in the other thread.
Also, please, tell me what could make invasion better. It was good game design, the maps being suited around AAs. Although it is arguable that AAs are not good, that doesn’t mean that it is bad game design in your context.
Just because people dislike sprint doesn’t mean they like the MLG playlists, maps or gametypes. They should get atleast 3 classic playlists: Objective based, Slayer based, and Good ol’ funtimes based.

Also by far the lowest population/total xboxes. Definitely a more accurate way to measure the game’s success.

I’ve already posted the reasons why in many other threads. So have many many other people.
The best things people come up with to support sprint is it adds pace (which it doesn’t and it’s been proven many times) and other games do it.
And regarding population, There were far fewer XBL users during Halo 2 and Halo 3 and both those games held their populations much better than Reach did. That is a simple fact.
Don’t worry, sprint lovers! 343 will make one playlist just for you. The rest will be Halo playlists, and you can have your silly gametype in that one, lonely playlist. It’s win, win :]
Do you want to know why MLG players and fans are making a big stink? Because the further you separate the competitive game from the “casual” playlists; the harder it is for you to attract new players and fans into the MLG community. If you are a random kid that plays just casual Team Slayer and you venture off into the MLG playlist and get hit smack in the face with weird settings that you’ve never seen before, weird maps you’ve never seen, etc. etc. you are likely to feel overwhelmed and go back to what you know. The more you need to change in a game to make it competitive, the more you are distancing yourself from the rest of the community and thus the less enticing you are making it to attract new blood. If you were to actually do a serious analysis on competitive video gaming; one of the biggest markers for success in a game is that it has to be competitive OUT OF THE BOX…ie: one that you dont need to heavily manipulate. That is why Starcraft 2 is the ultimate competitive video game. When Huk or WhiteRa or MVP or whoever are playing a Pro match they are playing literally the same game that two random kids are playing casually for fun; there is nothing different other than the level of play. Reach was so broken out of the box that MLG was shuffling gametypes back and forth; shuffling in maps that no casual player would even know of because they’d literally never seen them before in any playlist (eg: Oasis, Android, Element). The game overall sucked, but the major changes that were being made to try to make it competitive led to a season of horrible participation and horrible viewership (both in person and through stream).
Thus you can see…the MLG community doesn’t WANT a game where it’tl have to change this, and remove that, and remove this map, and change these settings, etc. It wants a game that can be played at a competitive level right out of the box. It doesn’t want “casual” and “competitive” settings. What we are trying to point out is that you CAN play a competitive and balanced game casually for fun. See Starcraft. See every Halo game before Reach. Halo 2 and Halo 3 were a hundred times more fun to play (the participation numbers dont lie) than Reach and those games weren’t horribly segregated into cheap gimmick playlists and game mechanics.

MOST people dont like playing MLG.
If MLG wants a perfect Game The tell them to make one
Why would I play a playlist that never try’s hard enough to evolve to into something bad -Yoink-. Like for some company that claims to be Major League Gaming sure doesn’t have a lot of fans for it,like I could go to Halo Reach or Halo 3 and see more people playing Halo PC then MLG playlist.
I’m sorry but if you consider being respond killed because players know where I’m going to respond on the map pro gaming then there something wrong with the system. Like you said there are more casual gamers then core gamers. So if you had a game type that fun but competitive for casual and core then you have something there.

Beautiful, just beautiful.

And the usual blind MLG hatred response.
Let me guess, you saw “MLG” in his post, didn’t even bother reading it and rushed into making your blind hate reply.
It allows you to close the distance between you and another player, extremely annoying when you’re just slowly behind them and want to get that assassination done and over with
lets you sprint to the power weapon,
allows you to clear gaps that otherwise wouldn’t be possible adding to map design,
can be used offensively or defensively,
adds tactics to the game (suprisingly running away and charging head first are BOTH tactics, and with the lower health, bleed through, and faster pacing of Halo 3 which they said they were adding to Halo 4, making a mistake and trying to run away will be much more challenging and by changing the melee system that two hit charge that so many people hate will be useless)
makes sense logically, (apparently thats a big word thrown around this thread rolls eyes)
Doesn’t make the game “noob” friendly, (its a gameplay feature not a gamebreaker)
Makes CTF, one bomb, or other objectives more intense, tactical, and encourages teamwork if the player holding can NOT sprint
sniping would be more challenging and skill based (other words thrown around a lot)
would allow people to get to the battle zone faster, once you kill a player he could come back around the corner only a few seconds later
Makes the BR significantly less OP-ed on maps like Valhalla or Sandtrap when you can run to cover rather then just take the bullets cause you have no other choice but to bunny hop
Honestly with a good amount of tweaking sprint can be a great addition to Halo 4. Try thinking from another perspective every once in a while
