To everyone complaining about Monetization

Yep, Because that is how they get new fans, new players, and bolster the dying multiplayer playlists that MCC and Halo 5 were having.

You should just do actual research on Microsoft’s revenue streams instead of relying on the most surface level google searches

Ok, then why are you adding salary to the budget when it already includes salary?

The issue here isn’t cost overall, but the harsh predatory nature of it currently.

Let’s look at it this way: if 343/MS wanted to money monger (like Activision) MP wouldn’t be fully free (think D2 now) and campaign wouldn’t be on gamepass. The pass would be more, we would have much worse customization, and the weekly ultimate would be paywalled.

The issue now: FOMO mixed with drastically overpriced shop items. I can go to D2 and buy a full set for maybe $10. And Bungie is (was) the worse right now with overpriced everything.$20 for one set is absurd.
“Spend on sheer overpriced crap cause you may not see it again.”

Plus charging a premium for an item that’s already in the pass, with items that were intentionally withheld and replaced with “fluff” is equally wrong.

I want to say THAT’S the issue. You can math cost all day, but let’s face it:
Players boycott overpriced predation vs gladly pay $5 for a set, $3 for a bundle, $1-2 for parts.

Someone hasn’t taken a reading comprehension course.

“Let’s say it goes for 5 years” It’s the entire point as to why I did 5 years of servers. I mean, it’s spelled out in front of you. Literally.

Using buzzwords destroys your credibility. ‘Predatory’ no. Just no.
They made it free, and are now asking for money to customize your spartan. Do you need it? No. Do you want it? Of course. Which means it’s up to you to purchase or not, not on them. You don’t HAVE TO buy anything from them in order to play. So miss me with that ~

Take your own advise. You’re counting salary twice.

We’re not asking them to release everything for free.

We just want reasonable costs.

They could actually make MORE money by lowering the prices in the store. They are catering their store to the whales, not the average consumer. For example, whether one guy buys a $20 set of armor or four people buy a $5 set of armor, they make the same $20. Maybe even 10 people buy the $5 set because more people will think the price is reasonable. That’s $50 instead of $20. They can easily find a middle ground cost-wise that can make them the same amount, if not more money. I’d say this is the basis for most arguments against the monetization model. They don’t want it for free. They want it for a reasonable price.

I have nothing against 343i trying to make sure that they would more than break even but they REALLY overdid it. Not even Activision or Tencent are so brazen as to demand $20 for armor pieces with no other way to get them outside of the Bundle. 343i seemed to look over every predatory monitization practice and wanted all of them.

The prices are ridiculous for how little you get, everything is bundled so you have to get stuff you don’t want to get that 1 armor piece you fell in love with in a previous Halo game, the store has a constantly rotating stock so if you are on the fence about a piece of armor you have to make a decision then and there as it is unknown when it would even return, armor pieces are split up between different cores which Bots have shown can function perfectly fine with armor their respective cores should not be able to equip, a battle pass that has more padding than a mattress store, and there is still more but I would stop there.

But if you still think that they “need” to do all of this, look up the costs to make, distribute, and advertise Halo 3, factor in inflation, then find out that this isn’t the first time Halo took a lot of money to make more money WITHOUT microtransactions.

…what? The development of the game included the salary during the creation of the game. If the game goes on for another 5 years, the salary needs to be paid during those 5 years. I mean, are you just being dense on purpose, or seriously unable to coherently read the text at the top of this post?

And what have they offered other than saying, buy from our shop?

Are you trying to tell me Halo 5 didn’t make a boat load of money off the shop?

Why don’t you go look at how much money Activision Blizzard made in 3 months this last year and come back and talk about how this game “needed” to be built around the shop.

Oh, that’s right, there are 2 shops going now, what was I even thinking, silly me.

Imagine being this upset at peoples’ opinions

You should try condescending more

Yesa Massa, anythin u say massa.

Imagine being in this much denial

So your trying to figure the total cost of the game from conception to 5 years after release? That would make sense then. I was trying to understand you, but you were an -Yoink!- so now I don’t care about anything your trying to say. Good luck defending your position with all the egregious assumptions and oversimplifications. :v:

Lmao, it’s called reading, and looking at what it says. You want me to explain what was already explained, and my patience is already tested due to other inane comments, so my bad for replying back to you in a way that offended you, but it could have been much worse buckaroo. :man_shrugging:

5 armor sets compared to the amount in recent Halo games is ridiculous.
They should raise the price of the Battle Pass to $20-$30, make challenge swapping free but limited (3-5 each day), throw everything from the season in it, and reduce the prices of items on the store by at least 50%.
There really shouldn’t be anything on the store that isn’t also in the Battle Pass.

Microsoft has 2.4 trillion market cap. Miss me with that price justification guy. There’s no reason it needs to be this expensive for stuff.

You also didn’t even stop to think that maybe you weren’t as clear as you thought. Do you call everyone dense when they don’t understand something you are trying to convey right away? You must be a real joy to be around.

So, because a parent business makes money from all of it’s different endeavors, and has a WORTH of 2.4 trillion, ,they are unable to make money back on their sub company’s investment of at least 500 million dollars? Lmfao, okay.
