Are you telling me that instead of tolerating ONE mid-game that you may or may not be on the losing side of, you would instead want the following:
ImAQuittingJerk quit.
ImAQuittingJerk(1) quit.
Seriously, is that what you would rather want?
Quitting has been one of the WORST problems the franchise has had since it came to XBL. Now that it has been FINALLY solved, we’ve got people -Yoinking!- about it.
For me no matter how much i hated having to play 2 v 4 it was just one of those things that was Halo… 343 has managed to make all kinds of changes that have made this game feel like something other than Halo…

Still feels like Halo to me.
Just like Reach felt like Halo to me (I know you’re out there, haters).
I feared the worst for the mid game joining but in Slayer the worst I’ve entered is two or three min in, and only one that I had quit out due to bad score. Now for FFA and Infection has major issue why oh why join a game that you can not win when your 3 min behind, so for me take it out of those playlist.
Also for Halo 4 its don’t seem to be so bad if your a player short in small team slayer, I had a game today we had a quitter straight off and never got a replacment and won the match.
The problem is going to be bigger when the ranking system is implemented. If you jip a game that is almost over will your rank go down/up because of this loss/win? How will quitting affect matchmaking players based on skill?

If being forced to play outnumbered games is what made Halo “Halo” for you, then do me a favor, and just stop playing the game.
> I’ve been dealing with joining a (severely) losing team several times a day, not just “one” as you’re claiming. It is very frequent and annoying.

It IS only one if you stay in the lobby after the game ends.
Join in progress sounds great in theory but in practice it doesnt work. The game is it stands will start a game 3v4 in the hopes a 4th will be added. I played 10 last night starting with a to3 and only once out of those 10 times did we get a 4th teammate
more than 1 out of 10 times in any other Halo did my whole team stay until the end.

I personally love the drop in drop out. People always quit and it used to be like 4 vs 2 but now you have a chance to equal sides again when a baby rage quits.

What you really mean is 343 didn’t make a clone of a game that has been out for years. Halo 4 is still Halo just the next evolution of it. If you want to play something just like an older Halo…just play an older Halo game. Every time a new game comes out people always just want their same game re-skinned.
There needs to be a search option to avoid joining in progress if you don’t want to. Matchmaking needs to not split up teams, and not start games with uneven teams. Join-in-progress needs to only place you in games that are close, and not more than half way through the game. There needs to be no-guest playlists.
Join in Progress is definitely better than what we had before. And to all the people that say that dealing with it was part of Halo, that’s just like going back to the pre-instant replay era in football and saying that that time was better because human error is part of the game. If technology exists to fix a problem it’s simply foolish to not fix it. Now that doesn’t mean the fix shouldn’t be tweaked.
My only real concern is with stat tracking. Joining in Progress should only HELP a player. In other words, any JiP game counts as an incomplete game or a win, NEVER a loss and all stats are tracked accordingly. It’s really the only way to treat it fairly. All that being said, I JiP’d a regicide game literally in the last 20 seconds. I had one kill and the game ended. I can understand the frustrations in situations like this.
Credits/XP for playing a game from start to finish should be increased as well.
The solution I would suggest is that JiP be tweaked so that if a game is more than 60% over, either by time or score, JiP is disabled. Only problem I see is that trolls may just wait until after JiP is disabled to quit out. And like the above poster stated, the score margin has to be reasonable to ensure the best competitive balance.
> I still maintain that this is infinitely preferable to the severe quitting problem of Halos past.
I agree. I strongly support jip and imo this is how it has to be now. I’d rather join in the middle of a game and at least have a chance of a decent game then either a GUARANTEED bad one or having to face some ridiculous punishment for quitting because I dont want to play 1 vs 5 when everybody else quit.

I shouldn’t join games that are losing. It solves one problem and creates another, at least the quitters could be resolved by going in lobbies with your team. I should at the very least have the option to disable JiP.
