I bought a physical copy of Halo:MCC but I’m really considering going digital for Halo 5. If I pre-order, there’s a chance I can download it in advance nearer the time and it then just unlocks at midnight when I intend to play it. I don’t have to go out at midnight to pick up the game and I have downloaded games before. But I do like having a physical copy of the game next to my XBox, plus I can’t sell the game afterwards if I choose to but that’s unlikely to happen…
So it is worth going digital? Are there any pros/cons I haven’t considered?
I’m going digital myself. My Halo 4 disc ended up getting damaged a few months after getting it, but the LE case is still intact so I just bought a new standard edition. I don’t even know where my Halo 2 play disc is, so all I can do is admire the awesome LE case
So, digital means that - while I wont have a nifty disc to hold - I can easily replace it should something happen.
However, I do want to get a physical disc eventually, just not right away
I haven’t bought a single disc since going digital this generation. The only Con to it is that if the game is -Yoink-, you can’t trade it in.
Other than that, you can combine Xbox Rewards and Bing Rewards to get games even cheaper. I get a $5 gift card every week from Bing Rewards, and a 10% rebate on every purchase I make on XBL.
Not to mention if you have more than one console, you can share the license and play a digital game on both systems at the same time for the price of 1 game.
In the MCC the “Who needs em” achievement is unobtainable on digital copies, but there is a workaround with physical copies. That’s one unexpected pro of going physical over digital I suppose. I have always preferred the case and disc, so physical all the way.

That’s really only a special case though.
I’ve gone digital for all my games that I own and have had no problem including that achievement. It’s so convenient to have all my games in one place that I can switch in between with a simple “Xbox go to Titanfall” etc. I don’t have to fumble with discs, I don’t have to worry about damage or losing them and I don’t have to get up off the couch.
Also if I want a physical copy for my halo collection, I can grab one at a later date when it’s on sale. That’s what I did for Halo: MCC.

Hey man, if people are considering going digital, why not fill them in on how they can benefit from it? It only helps the cause.
For me, it boils down to the novelty of the disc and the diminishing storage space on my hard drive. I like all the physical goodies with launch games, so if I really care for the franchise, I’ll get the physical. I’m getting the Limited Edition of Halo 5.
Digital is just super convenient, that’s what I have for MCC. Just snag the controller from the counter and plop my hiney on the couch. Plus, my kids can’t grab the disc and mess it up.
I’m going digital. I want to play the game the minute it’s out. And I’ve gotten used to just clicking play for all my games on Steam. I’ve continued it with my Xbox One, why just get a ton of discs?
I really don’t go for phisical copies anymore, unless they are special editions. And seeing as Bulgarian retailers will appearantly not be selling neither the LE or LCE, I am almost certainly going digital.
I used to get nothing but physical copies of games. Then MCC came along and I realllly wanted to play at midnight and my Gamestop is a good 30 minutes away, so I went digital and I love it.
I recommend going digital only if you are confident you won’t be trading that game in. Otherwise you’ll love not having to switch disks all the time.
Physical for me, not sure why I am still a fan for hard copies for my game consoles. PC on the other hand is all digital for me for the last few years.
I don’t have the patience to download 30 gigs of content on a system that already seems to download a lot slower than my PC.

You don’t have to do those things anyways…even a physical copy installs the game onto your xbox so you can just go to a menu and play it.
It’s not like we use pop in and play anymore…sadly.

That’s odd, because if i go to play Titanfall and the disk isn’t in the Xbox then I can’t play it.

I have lost my copy of Halo 3. It actually cracked due to the pressure of the its holder inside of its own LE case.
I am am about half and half right now. I do regret that the physical copies I have are not Digital though. I will be all digital going forward, just so nice not having to worry about discs anymore.

Um yes you do… The license authentication is stored on the disc. Here’s what happens when you try to launch a physical game without the disc in the drive: http://i.imgur.com/bSm909K.jpg
