I hate to say this but I don’t find the same joy in picking up a battle rifle as I did in previous halos. In fact, I rarely ever pick it up because I feel like the pistol is a better weapon. When I do have the Br, I find myself constantly wondering why the enemy did not die even though I am confident I shot them 4 times. Not to mention that the kill time is exactly the same as the pistol. I play on a monitor, have a kontrol freek thumb stick, and around a 1.6 KD. Not saying I’m good but just that I actually care about halo and I just wish this iconic halo weapon was better. Does anyone else fee this way?

4 shot with more forgiveness vs 5 shot with less forgiveness. What are you smoking?
That’s interesting you would think that. I find that the BR is more efficient than a Magnum. It’s a lot easier to get kills with it because you can take out the shield and land a headshot in one burst if you aimed to the head of a spartan with weakened shields, and the bullet magnetism is insane (Shot at the chest, got a headshot a few times).
Funny enough, that’s actually why I steer clear from the BR now. It feels like a better AR (I mean that as a starting weapon that’s a lot more user friendly in effectiveness). since I mastered the commendation I rarely use it unless I had to in BTB or other BR start gametypes. I find Magnum headshots and perfect kills more satisfying.
Maybe I just need more practice with it. Do we know exactly how the bursts work. For instance, If my first bullet of the burst hits them but the other 2 do not, does it count as 1 of the 4 shots, or only a partial? If that makes sense.

Courious,as soon is i got spawned i head to the next BR/DMR/Carbine and the Mother of all the Lightrifle,yes sure on my way to this spot the Mag is my best friend,this is something good mate,to have a good starting gear to never feel harmless!
Same for the AR if possible it will drop for Stormcarbine/smg or Power weapons.
Bysides the iconic Halo weapons are AR+Magnum.

This has the most in-depth explanations of the weapon damage tables that I have found so far. It appears that it requires eleven rounds to break shields, and then any single round will kill with the headshot. I love this guy for doing all the research for us.
