Prologue
9th Age of Reclamation
location: Artifact-name: Glorious Reverance
Rtahn Falumee strode the halls of the revered and beloved artifact that he and his band of “heretics” protected so fervently thinking about how he had arrived at Glorious Reverance.
They had left the Covenant long ago when Rtahn overheard the oracle over the human planet “Harvest” tell the san shyuum (who were now the prophets of the Covenant) that the Humans were their Gods. This secret alone would have torn the Covenant apart and launched them into civil war. Knowing this, the prophets had everyone in the same room of the oracle executed.
Rtahn however, had been lucky enough to escape the wrath of the Prophets before they enacted the executions. He had escaped to his personal quarters and had called in his closest of friends; Itsan Makamee, Jarai Falumee -Rtahn’s cousin-, Moro Vanazee, and Plono Monamee. Once they had gathered in his quarters he had told them of the treachery of the prophets.
Some were unconvinced, but Rtahn could not let them leave and speak to the prophets and warn them of his “heretical” teachings. So he sealed his door and spoke with them for many an hour until he convinced them fully that this was the truth.
Once they were fully convinced, and Rtahn made 100% sure they were, they decided they would have to make a plan.
Escaping the Forerunner dreadnaught was not an easy task for them. The security forces that that patrolled and watched the outgoing ships was tighter than any other security force in the Covenant armada save the security force on high charity.
The small group of unknown heretics decided they would have to wait until the time was right: when the dreadnaught rejoined itself with High Charity. Once this happened they would find a ship and take it to an artifact through slipspace.
The plan went off without a hitch, after they rejoined high charity they joined a carrier. The carrier had then passed through slipspace towards a human planet, whose name Rtahn did not know. Nor did he care. Once they reached the destination the heretics stole a Phantom and entered slipspace. Their destination was an artifact on the planet Glorious Reverance. Their goal was to protect the artifact, or any artifact that they could protect, from the Covenant. The Covenant would use the holy artifacts to destroy the humans, the reclaimers-thus the artifacts had to be protected.
Rtahn left his thoughts on the past. A wise man once said not to linger on the past but to focus on the present. That Sangheili was now dead, a plasma sword stabbed through his chest. Again Rtahn left his thoughts of his past and looked towards the present.
His friend Moro strode toward him. Rtahn folded his arms and inspected his friend. He wore a normal Sanghieli combat harness, but it was red, fit for that off a major. Underneath his combat harness Moro grinned.
“Rtahn, how do you fare brother?” He asked.
Rtahn bowed his head in contemplation. He clacked his mandibles together.
“I am well Moro. I am well,” said Rtahn.
Moro looked at him uncertainly.
“I do not believe you. What troubles you brother?”
Rtahn looked at him with confidence.
“I was thinking of the day we learned of the facade the Covenant was putting on. It ruined our way of life, and now we life on this god forsaken artifact!” Rtahn exclaimed.
Moro folded his arms at the sudden outburst. “Rtahn, the gods have let us know the truth. There isno path. Now that we know, we are free from the falsities that bound us. Now that we are free we can save countless lives from Truth, Regret and Mercy. Without us so many shall die. But with us, many Sangheili shall be turned to the cause. We are heroes living on an artifact made by the Gods.”
Rtahn looked around and nodded. " I suppose you are right Moro, I am sorry for my outbreak."
“You are-”
Moro had no time to finish his sentence as, the in the distance, the artifact rumbled from an explosion.
