First off, I am going to start off with basic facts that can’t be refuted, so people don’t instantly assume that my opinions are wrong simply because they are too stubborn to agree.
Facts about Halo 5
- Halo 5 has the smallest amount of game-modes available at launch than any Halo multiplayer ever. Halo 3 had slayer, oddball, CTF, assault, infection, swat, BTB, and king of the hill. Halo 5 had Slayer, CTF, Strongholds, Breakout (a small minority play this), and warzone. Now Halo 5 is adding oddball and assault, finally. - Halo 5 has the fastest TTK (time to kill) overall than any other Halo game. - Every weapon in Halo 5 (besides the Plasma pistol) can efficiently and effectively kill at its optimized range. (343i has said this) - Halo 5 has More armor than other games, but less armor customization that Halo 4 or Reach. - Halo 5 has ADS (aiming down the sights), sprint, thruster, clamber, and ground pound, all of which were taken out of modern games, and if not, they are still in all modern games. - Halo 5 has the smallest amount of maps that actually have different environments, or at least different objects used to compose the map. This next part is of course my opinion, but compared to other Halo games this is extremely lazy. Look at what Certain Affinity did with the Halo 4 DLC maps, they had weird different environments. - Halo 5 did not have firefight or forge at the start of the game, and still does not have firefight. Firefight also will more than likely just be on the already made warzone maps, which is also lazy in my opinion. - Halo 5 put the reticule in the middle of the screen, whereas only Halo CE has done this compared to all other Halo games. - Halo 5 has stickier aim assist than compared to Halo 2 or 3, though I can’t prove this with numbers all you have to do is play the game after playing Halo 2, 3, or even Reach. - Halo 5’s primary weapons all have hitscan, making it obviously easier to hit targets from a distance, and this is of course my opinion, but this is one of the worst things about Halo 5’s warzone maps, or large open maps in general. Now that I have gotten those facts out of the way, I can now state my opinion as to why these facts are bad for fans, or Halo in general.
My Awesome Opinions
- Halo 5 has very little diversity, and was obviously worse at launch than it is now. I remember going into Reach, a Halo game that had a lot of crap in it, but it was still more fun than playing Halo 5 for the first time, and had an awesome forge mode that allowed for some really intense/fun maps or gametypes. Halo Reach also had a pretty good firefight mode that people spent a lot of time on, as well as the armor customization where I have heard very little people complain about, especially compared to Halo 5’s armor/ armor customization. - Halo 5 really does have the fastest time to kill overall, with the SMG’s kill time being only .1 seconds off from Halo CE’s Magnum. Not only this, but Halo 5’s main weapon, the pistol, has a kill time of 1.46 seconds, while the Halo 3 Br had a kill time of 1.53 seconds. This may not seem like a lot but one needs to consider this- getting a 6 shot kill in Halo 5 with the magnum takes 1.752 seconds, getting a 5 shot kill with the Br in Halo 3 took 1.9125 seconds. This is actually a large amount of time considering many other components, like trying to get away or turning around and (reversing) the engagement. - This is one of the most direct ways to show why 343 is not listening at all to the community, or at least doesn’t know what makes Halo, well… “Halo”. Halo 5 intentionally makes literally every primary weapon, and almost all secondary weapons absolute killing machines, as long as those weapons are used at their optimized ranges… Hmm, sounds familiar, you know, LIKE CALL OF DUTY. Call of Duty, a game that should obviously be completely separate from Halo, now resembles Halo closer than you think. COD also makes every weapon very effective at its optimized range, while Halo has never done this to the extent that 343 has done. Halo 1, 2, 3, and Reach all did the same thing, they all had the one primary precision weapon that if used correctly (insert skill) were the best weapons overall and could almost always win every engagement with other primaries. In Halo 5, as most of you should know by now, no matter how good you are at close range with the pistol, at least 90% of the time the enemies AR, SMG, or storm rifle will become victorious.

This is something that should be SO obvious and to most fans it was. Why in the world would you as a developer not make the armor customization to the extent that your last game was? I do not remember exactly what 343’s reasoning was, but it was something along the lines that the “suits” looked better by themselves… What? All this means is that the armor 343 has made does not look good when placed side by side, by their own admission. There have also been multiple polls on Halo waypoint that prove that at least 50% of people liked Halo Reach’s armor/ armor customization compared to Halo 5’s. If this is true, Then 343 should have listened to the community that said Halo 4’s armor was bad, and completely overhauled it, go back to Reach’s armor, or just do both at the beginning of Halo 5’s life, and not wait till, what, 6 months later? And we don’t even know if the Reach armor will be added to Halo 5, this is just speculation.

Halo has ADS, sprint, clamber, thruster, and ground-pound. 343i never said that the majority of the community wanted these, especially ADS, which I would argue MOST of the community did not want, and it directly impacts the gameplay too, which 343 also said that it wouldn’t, or more-so, Frankie said that it would not. (THEY LIED)

Halo 5’s maps are butt-ugly in terms of the environment. By this, I mean that they have very little different textures, or objects implemented in the small amount of maps. Heck, they even were hiring for a forge environment artist… C’mon, anyone can make wood blocks, stone blocks, shiny blocks, ect… Seriously though, just go to any other Halo game and look at the different environments in the multiplayer maps.
-
Adding Firefight when the community obviously wanted it before the game even came out… 343 hasn’t been listening for long.

Though placing the reticule in the middle of the screen doesn’t sound like much, it directly affects how easy it is to get a headshot, considering your reticule is now at a perfect placement for it on a flat surface. Honestly this one doesn’t matter near as much as the other things, but I find it funny 343 changes everything they want to, just for the heck of it.

This is just one of the reasons why I do not like the aim assist in Halo 5
-
Because all of the weapons in Halo 5 have hitscan, it is a lot easier to hit people from cross-map, compared to something like Halo 3 or I would even say it was harder in Reach.
Now as to why this all pertains to why 343 is NOT listening to the community, is because most of what I just wrote is what is wrong with Halo 5, and if the majority of people would agree, then 343 has not listened and will hopefully do so in Halo 6.
