First of all let me give you some context about myself so you don’t think I havn’t actually thought this through. I have played every halo it is my favorite game franchise ever. I got into it playing split screen with my friend and we loved it. I do undertand the fun of couch co-op however I mostly play online with friends. I hope by reading this you might become ok with the decision as I have. First let’s look at Halo as a game trying to make money(because it is), as the Xbox Flagship game it needs to look as impressive as possible visually. Right now a lot of people really seem to want 60 FPS and if it is not then it looks bad for the game. Playing MCC I will say it feels very smooth and I like it, I also want to say I don’t think my eyes can tell the difference between 30 and 60, but it might be my TV and/or computer(both from 2007 and both not huge screens, the TV is 32") We also live in a day where online gaming is almost a standard, yes I know many people do not do online gaming, but I think most people who would be buying Halo do have XBL. If taking away couch co-op makes the game look better than I say this and I hope you can see my point. Learn how to enjoy older games. I LOVE TMCC and I am perfectly fine with having that be my couch co-op shooter. There is so much in the old halo games to do you really don’t need split screen in the new halo game or even future halo games. Now one more thing I want to mention before I leave this open for the internet to hate on like everything else. I do not currently have my own place but I often dream that when I get my own place I will have people over for couch co-op game nights. So that means my future plans will not include H5, and I am ok with that because I can play any other Halo game couch co-op no problem. So yes I agree they are leaving a core feature that helped them get to where they are today, but at this point in time it shouldn’t be that big of a problem.
I’m not too bothered by it, but at the same time, splitscreen is the reason I’m a Halo player today. My wife started playing Halo splitscreen with me in Reach.
