To all staff at 343 Industries

I think my only concern at this point is if there’s going to be any more traditional levels or will it simply be just an open world. It’s quite a big issue if there’s not I think it’s far to say. If not then does that mean action will at times inevitably be non existent as you go around exploring, because unless there is also linear missions ala ODST style then that’s not going to sit well with a lot of folk. The beauty of linear missions being that action is consistently served up and with no downtime as such on the scale of a lot of open world games. If similar to ODST in that it has this open dynamic world but also actual linear missions as well then I imagine this sitting better

Here is my opinion about what I liked and disliked about the game.

PROS:

  • Movement: A classic style of movement with a modern approach.
  • The movement has a classic feel with no thrust, jet-packs, spartan charge, etc. but it keeps the modern types of movement that most FPS games have now (sprint, slide, and clamber). Btw, the grappleshot will be a pickup/power-up in multiplayer so it shouldn’t change gameplay too much.
  • The music and sound effects.
  • 343 did a great job working on the sound and music composition based on the gameplay reveal. Here is a video of them recording a bunch of sound effects for the game Making Halo Infinite | Audio Field Recordings – Vehicles - YouTube
  • HUD
  • Clean and simple approach to the HUD with classic shield regeneration sounds and simple but really nice damage direction indicator.
  • Open Word
  • More replayability and it gives 343 the flexibility to give us campaign updates which is normally exclusive to multiplayer.
  • Environment
  • The environment feels alive with a ton of wildlife, a changing environment, and day/night cycles.

CONS:

  • Brute and Phantom seem unfinished in both how they move and look. Specifically, how they are animated and the textures. The super bright color of their armor made them look goofy. (Hopefully this is because its only a demo)
  • Pop-ins/pop-outs were pretty bad. The grass, clouds, and textures would appear and disappear when moving around the world.
  • Bullet trail from fully automatic guns was way to prominent. It didn’t look or feel like halo.
  • Shield regeneration animation was distracting and took up too much of the screen. I don’t mind the idea but maybe make the hexagons much smaller, take up less of the screen, and give them a bit of transparency.

I have recognized the people behind the game and they’re butchering it. Also what kind of argument is that? Because there are people at 343 they deserve no criticism and a big gold star? Coomsoom til you die amirite? But yes I’m a sad human for not liking their broken shoddy games
They deserve zilch praise and recognition when they fail to hit the mark each time. Its not your buddy making the game, its a game studio specially made by MS to further milk money out of the series, they aren’t your friends.

Seriously what is with people defending big corporations, especially when their products are unfinished crap with micro-transactions?
What I hate is when 343 shills pretend that 343 did nuffin wrong and all previous blunders never happened, do we seriously have to write out every giant and small mistake they made BEFORE we criticize them?
Mind you it would be a very large list.

I would agree that 343i has made more than enough mistakes to not want to back them up anymore and I would be right there with you if they havent been claiming that this is a reboot. If they were releasing another game just like Halo 5 and didnt listen to anyone then I wouldnt be picking their next game up, but that’s not the case. They have back tracked to the old art style like everyone has requested and have gone back to the element of mystery. I think that’s enough to at least play the game and see where they took it. I myself am still skeptical and I have it set in my mind if I end up not liking this game then I am done playing halo. Also I want to say even though I feel this way I am still hopeful that they did the best to their ability to do the right thing. Even through the struggles they have had.

I am still going into this with an open mind.

It wasn’t what i expected, especially graphically but i dont think it looks “bad”. And it still has some time to be polished. The idea of an explorable world is GREAT!

My main concern is the story, i really hope the Cortana story isn’t sidelined to fight this Brute.

My biggest criticism of the 343 games so far is that they do not feel connected like the original games. The Didact was dropped and killed in a comic, Cortana seems secondary so far and Locke is no where to be found.

Hate? Maybe 5% is hate the rest is just critic, easy said.

I will disagree if you rewatch the reveal you’ll notice many things the enemies to show their intelligence, brutes stumble when you shoot them in the leg, and grunts dont jump but are thrown at you. Jackles don’t instantly bring up their shield there is a delay to allow them to shoot you, the elites were very nimble zipping around. The dialog was perfect when they stuck a grunt he said this is the end and jetpacked towards him, the suicide grunt screaming screw you as he flew towards the chief. And this is all on normal difficultly.

well personally I loved infinate, graphics need updating and 343 have heard that critique loud and clear. But everything else was absolutely amazing.

I don’t about you but most of the negative feedback i have seen is from people that have no intention of explaining what would make it work for them. They just say “Ihate it” and then leave.

The same could be said for most of the people who hated the new design and wanted the old art style back: nobody gave constructive criticism, nobody explained why. The difference is this time the vast majority of comments about the graphics of Halo Infinite, from fans or not, is negative, last time was only a loud minority who criticized the graphics. There must be a reason. It’s not just hating for the sake of hating, up until the day before the show everybody was hyping Halo Infinite insanely.

> GASP some people actually enjoy 343i’s halo. You need to remember, bungie’s games lasted from 2001 - 2007 (or 2010 with reach). 343i has been making them from 2012 to 2020. Guess what? The people who loved bungie aren’t the only fans of halo now. Some people actually grew up on 343i’s halo, not bungie.

Halo 5 is the game I spent the most time on (ever) because I liked a lot what 343 did with the MP, but I still hated basically everything else 343 did including the last gameplay trailer for H Infinite. It’s not hate towards 343.

From what i remember, all enemies react slow when they see you, they start yelling stupid stuff and give you too much free time before they attack.
Jackal didn’t have his shield up caus he didn’t see Chief and he could have died before he put his shield up.
Elite was taking fire and then he rolled towards Chief not to the side or into cover.
Brutes drop down and start showing off before engaging and run towards you instead of shooting.
Grunts are Grunts,1-2 shots and they die.

I don’t know if the right way is to leave Halo 4 and Halo 5 in the past and pretend they never existed. They are great games, I really liked the multiplayer of Halo 5. I hope this game is a good balance between 5 and Bungie’s Halo. But 343 is not Bungie and that doesnt mean that they cannot make better Halo games than they, surely they can do it better and with their own style.

Based on what we saw 343 has a lot to answer for. If this is how the game looks at launch Halo is dead.

Halo not only has to be pushing the envelope graphically as the other Halo games did but in the gameplay department and so far nothing I saw impressed me that much.

What you saw in the campaign reveal was an older version of the demo and at current time the game is already much more polished.

I don’t think they are leaving the story of 4 and 5 behind because if you listen to what the brute said he mentions that the Harbinger (Cortanas group) and the Banished have the same goal. I feel like they could make a better halo than Bungie ever had, and Infinite might be it.

I mean that is kind of how halo has always been. Especially in the original Halo CE

Again, be constructive with your criticism. People are not mind readers. You have to tell them why you dont like it.

Idk I actually liked what was shown. Needs more polish for sure (pop-in geometry), but I’m very happy with the direction the art has taken. I’m a little irked about sprint being in the game after we all complained about it for 5 years straight, but I can live with it as long as everything else is in order, which it appears to be.

Do you have any source to back up that claim? Are you saying something you hope is true hoping 343i will notice your efforts to defend a faceless corporation?

Let us get some objective facts out of the way with:

  • This was a Microsoft held event, not a 343i held event - The goal was to showcase games going to be on the XBox Series X (lame name) - When trying to sell a product, you want to make it as appealing as possible - Consoles are expensive, and the PS5 is going to be released around the same time - The competition is tough - They needed to make it the absolute best presentation possible, especially after how well received Sony’s PS5 press conference was - 343 Industries has given us no information about Halo Infinite since the announcement trailer - Halo Infinite is going to be released within four months - The Halo franchise was used as a system seller, a way to get people to buy XBoxesNow that we got that out of the way with, let me know if anything I said was factually incorrect.

The difference between a fact an opinion is if you can prove it is always true. Can you explain to me why a company that has been working on a game for five years, with no information until four months until release, and hoping it will make people want to buy an expensive new console, will give sup-par gameplay and visuals instead of the best they can show? This was not an event for Halo fans, but something to show the entire world to say “Look at me!” You only have one chance to make a first impression, and now it is a laughing stock among the gaming community, not just Halo fans.

There is a possibility the game will be great, but right now everyone is comparing it to Destiny, Doom, Borderlands, and Titanfall, while reminding everyone of what Anthem was like from announcement to release. 343i has been controversial due to Call of “halo” 4, the Disaster Chief Collection, and “halo” 5, with the sales and population to back that up. Sure the franchise was on a slow decline since Reach, but 343 Industries accelerated it.

Look Im not going to sit here and blindly hate 343.
But I’m not going to sit here and say they don’t deserve a decent bit of whats said about them.
I personally feel as if they have ignored us for 10 years! While they are copying other games.

In the beginning I thought it was because they were a new company, but over time I began to feel like they do this purpose.
There has to be a reason they are named after what killed Johnson.
