To all SR130's and h4 quitters

Just a couple things i want to say to all SR130 players and quitters of halo 4.

Halo 4 might have been my first official game to reach maximum rank and just for that, i feel happy and motivated to play even more!

My goal right now is to get alot of kills, have fun and don’t care about rank.

You all should do the same thing as i do.

This is just my opinion.

too bad some of us actually like balanced games, and competitive gameplay. Yes halo 4 is a great step but needs a lot of work to be a great game.

Edit: Yes Halo 4 is a backwards step and needs a lot of work to be a great game.

It’s all a matter of perspective. Most of the problems I had with Reach (which didn’t so much feel like a step back so much as a leap into “What the hell is going on? Where am I?”) where fixed in Halo 4. Other people feel as though it was a step back from Reach, while others still feel as though it is on the same level. In a way it comes down to what parts of the game define your experience.

I hate to say it but most of the things that can objectively be called issues are a result of rushed development. People say that Halo 4 had a long cycle but in reality so much of that time was dedicated to building the studio. Microsoft needs to learn to compromise on deadlines and extend development so their games can actually live up to their potential.

Im getting tired of this so called fight between the gamers over what kind of gamer you are. I miss having a competitive playlist but that doenst mean im gonna take out my rage on other gamers just because they like fun. This makes no sence when did gaming get to the point where if you didnt care about stats as much as the next player your not a ‘true gamer’ sorry i mean ‘noob’. Iv allways felt that you could have fun and yet be be competitive. I hate the fact that someone who has fun playing Halo is almost attacted by other players claiming its their fault for the state of the game. You cant blaim players like that, they cant control how the game is managed. Yes you cna be upset, im sure 343 is very aware of how we feel, but this is getting way out of hand. Gamers claiming their no longer playing because the MLG didnt pick up Halo 4. SUre you can be disapointed but that donest mean that HAlo is screwed in any way. Im willing to wait and see what 343 is doing and has planned. I feel that alot of gamers dont like to wait which im sorry to say is sometimes something were forced to do. BUt hat doesnt mean lets draw a line and state whos the reason that Halo is what it is and blaim them for it. Im not gonna go out and say oh the gamers who only play for fun, their killing Halo they have no clue what a Halo game is how dare they, how dare you i say.

I think this game really needs a bunch of changes. Personally, I want custom gametypes like Race and Infection back. Yes, Infection is ‘here’… but it really isn’t. Flood is quite terrible and I find it very easy to not enjoy it, compared to Infection in Reach. Race is probably the funnest gamemode to play… So many memories from Halo: Reach.

Its more then apparent that rank doesn’t mean anything in Halo 4. In Halo 2 and Halo 3 we had trueskill (both with different algorithms) and in Halo Reach we just had a general progression system that didn’t show skill, but just how dedicated as a player you were.

Halo 4 doesn’t show that, its just a place holder for unlocking armor and using spartan points (like the game needs an economy) and for unlocking perks along with specializations. Not a good indicator of skill or even showing how dedicated players are.

Sure getting alot of kills is fun for some, but to me its basically your typical goal in a multiplayer game. Halo is usually more then that. Fun is subjective. To me, fun is taking screenshots or creating clips using theater mode and I can partly do that.

When I work hard to get a power weapon and I get obliterated by a DMR I quit out instantaneously because the DMR is the cancer of H4. I’m 130.

This game would be great if 343 stopped celebrating their horrible C rated game and actually fixed it, but that’s just my opinion.

You know what would be a cool idea. After reaching rank 130, you should be able to start your skill based rank like the system in halo 3. You only progress your rank based on your skill rather just xp. So by the time you reach rank 130 you would have had plenty of time to prep yourself. For example take the system from halo 3, add 50 more ranks and have a ranked playlist. It would be the road to 50 all over again. This is just a thought and I think it would be super cool.

Please don’t address this to “SR130 players and quitters of halo 4”. Because players that do quit playing this game have there own reasons like: jobs, playing another game because halo 4 isn’t balance and so on etc. As for the sr130 some that reach 130 is not that hard to even get. Heck even I am 130 and I don’t even care about the rank.

Yes some people do try to have fun as well myself included but as many players said about halo 4. The games needs to be fix and as well people are getting bored seeing almost the same playlist for matchmaking, some players can’t forge a lot because in some parts you feel limited etc.

Removing firefight and not having the theatre mode work for anything other than multi-player is a step backwards. As is Spartan Ops. As is limiting people to level 70 and 3 specializations. Then there’s the poor matchmaking. etc etc

I’d rather have no rank than a rank at which I can cap at and feel finished.

I wish more people had an attitude like yours.

I don’t get why people say it got CoDified though. How has it been CoDified? Purely because you can call in an Ordnance Drop which will have random contents? That’s hardly CoDifying it.

I wish more people understood that trying to force yourself to play and game and like it isnt going to work, even when it says Halo on the cover. A game that has been filled with random crap gets frustrating to play.

In some ways, Halo 4 is a step up from Reach, like movement and slightly better maps, and decent weapon balance(for the most part).
In some ways Halo 4 is a step back from Reach, like the terrible UI, poor forge controls, and terrible screen lag.
In some ways, Halo 4 is a step back from Halo 3, like the theatre system being multiplayer only, fileshare not working, poor playlist management.

In all, Halo 4 took about one step forward, then jumped 3 steps back, two steps to the side and rolled in mud. The game has some good base gameplay, but then it is covered with all of this random muck that detracts from the base gameplay and makes it not important.

Getting to max rank is easy and can be done in 2 weeks. 2 WEEKS!!! How long did it take to get to max rank in Reach? 6 months minimum? 1 year? 1 1/2 years? What do you get for getting to SR130? An emblem. GG.

My point exactly, its entirely too easy to rank up in this game. A step backward in my opinion.

Rather than sit than and be a negative nancy, he looks at the good in the game and enjoys it. You should really give it a try sometime.

People say Codified when a game takes or tries to take elements of a COD game and implement it into theirs.

Halo took:

  • progression ranks,
  • killcams,
  • rapidly despawing weapons,
  • weapon skins,
  • PODs,
  • SpOps, which is closer to SpecOps than Firefight
  • short campaign,
  • QTEs in campaign,
  • personal loadouts,
  • unlocking weapons through ranking up,
  • poor maps
  • sprint,
  • Instant respawn
  • Ability to shoot while carrying the flag

I know that these are strictly from COD as other games have them too, but when COD is the giant and the king, then everyone looks to that game and tries to emulate it in some way to try to steal some of they thunder. It never works because the game doesn’t end up being original, so people don’t care about it.

Things COD took from Halo:

  • Theatre
  • LAN support
  • Zombies/Infection
  • League Play
  • Skill-based ranks that are visible in the game.
  • as well as a few others I’m sure.

The difference, is that COD implemented it well, while Halo didn’t.
