I’m on here because I hate myself and am also a contrarian.
I’m also enjoying the game and don’t want that voice to go unheard, and am stubborn enough to not be pushed out by people behaving in a less than civil manner.

There’s 100,000 people playing infinite on steam right now. 270,000 at the cap.
Halo reddit has 14k people online right now. How is that representative?
dang man, halo fans are crazy. the monetization and f2p was a mistake and bs, but damn the gunplay is addicting and smooth.
r/Halo has 970,000 members. You are now picking and choosing facts to fit your narrative and that’s where I checkout. r/Halo is more than indicative of the population considering it has more than 3 times Halo Infinire’s peak online statistics.
We all love Halo and want it to be better. Be objective in your anti critiques.
Edit: Also this is at a time when the subreddit is shutdown. Get a headcount when the sub is up and running then use those statistics
I don’t see a lot of people praising 5.
There is simply no way they could have been oblivious to the backlash based on their decisions when it comes to customisation.
There is no way they could have honestly thought getting rid of customisation options that are 20 years old, offering no alternative, and then locking it behind a paywall would sit well with or win over the community
I simply don’t buy it
It is a concerted calcylated decision on their part to take the req system idea that made them kajillions of dollars and expand it to make even more kajillions
As I’ve said in pervious posts, had this type of battlepass and aggressive MTX system been working in conjunction with the tradtional method of unlocking customisation through achievments or challenges or finding skulls etc etc etc
No issue…those who want to buy MTX can buy MTX and those who don’t can still get unlockables the tradtional way
This whole situation is giving me flashbacks from the Battlefront 2 situation with EA. Maybe not as extreme, but u catch my drift. I want this game to succeed.
I really don’t get this jilted lover vibe you guys want with developers. “Just apologize and promise to do better,” like what is with this mentality? Bungie does this yearly and nothing really changes (tho Destiny got hella better).
We don’t need promises and groveling, we just need confirmation that the people who made certain decisions understand what the rift was between player and dev visions for this game. That is all.
I mean, how did Ske7ch’s explanation not do exactly that? It admitted they made mistakes; check. It promised they’re working on fixing them; check.
Was it specific and all-encompassing the way people are demanding? No. And for valid reason. If you’ve ever worked in game design you know how complicated the process is; no way on Earth are they gonna update the community in specifics in the midst of the process. And I personally respect that the guy was willing to call out the people complaining that the game is soo horrible because they made some bad choices. They made bad choices in 5 too; I certainly don’t think this game is any worse than that, and it at least has the potential to get better. Let’s be patient and constructive, shall we?
Remember this: The game isn’t out yet, and I guarantee you that we are not seeing everything. Remember this also: even if you buy the game, the developers do not owe you anything but what you purchased.
Nothing will change unless Phil Spencer cleans up that poor excuse for upper management.
“The game isn’t out yet” is only relevant f you ignore the numerous times which 343 staff have explicitly stated that everything intended to be in the game at launch, and how it is presented is already there.
At the very least, they should follow through on the promises and marketing they’ve pushed out. So far they have absolutely failed to do that; they’ve even walked back on some of it. And so, folks feel lied to and taken advantage of; feel like their fandom is being exploited and preyed upon because it is.
Present that quote. Because in moderating my own Halo community, I’ve seen this misquote stated often, and absolutely (and unfortunately) know that we have not seen everything.
And no, the fandom is not being preyed upon. Holy Hel that is a load of unnecessary melodrama. Yes, having patterns and colors up for purchase is not optimal, but no one is forcing you to buy them. You needn’t pay a single cent to play the game or progress to a point where it is playable. You pay for inconsequential cosmetic things that you want, and that is a huge difference.
If you follow the devs’ news posts in Waypoint, they explained this. It’s also in an in-game message if you read the “message of the day” (or whatever it’s called) section in HInfinite’s menu: ttps://www.halowaypoint.com/news/welcome-to-the-halo-infinite-mp-beta
While you may experience some bumps and bugs during this beta period, it does mark the official start of Halo Infinite Season 1, with all day-one maps and modes enabled as well as the full Season 1 Battle Pass. [emphasis added]
No playlists are likely to be added by Dec 8th because there was no plan for this:
ttps://twitter.com/Unyshek/status/1466858751722352643
Let’s talk about Halo Infinite playlists!
We’ve been reading your feedback, and we’re working on plans to add Fiesta, Tactical Slayer (SWAT), and Free-For-All playlists as we speak. They won’t land by Dec 8, but the team is pushing to get them in before the end of year
At this point, presuming there is some secretly planned content drop or hotfix which 343 is keeping quiet about is more than wishful thinking; it’s an outright denial of what they’re explicitly telling us.
If you want to be up to date on this info, I reccomend following r/Halo and at least the Dev’s blog posts on this site. r/Halo is a bit of a cesspit right now, but at least it is an easy way to find a lot of the direct communication with 343 (usually curated from Twitter, but also direct communication happens from them there as well)
Do you even realize this game was built around the shop that they have no plans on really changing anything?
Bungie has been doing things like this for the last 4 years and will continue to pull BS like this. Then comes in the fake apology with them saying “they will do better” but they literally haven’t in the last 4 years when it comes to the shop. It’s all a show to make it look like “they are listening” so the ones that are blind will buy into it.
343 will make small adjustments just enough to keep players around, but their main goal is keeping the shop built around the game. It will always be their top priority. So you as a customer need to wake up and keep that in mind because this is a business, not a company that cars about anyone. All of you are nothing but a number and the sooner most of you wake up to that reality, the better off you will be.
See, it’s not the devs that actually create the game that is the problem, it’s the people above them that love this very special person that most of you ignore, and trust me, that special person manipulating the game/players is working their -Yoink!- off to find ways to manipulate you, and they do an excellent job of keeping a certain type of people around, becase they are the ones that don’t care about a quality type of game, they just want to buy the shiny things.
Halo isn’t about making a game anymore for the player base as well as the company. It’s a business looking for ways to manipulate the player base to keep that money flowing in with devs that have that passion of wanting to make a quality type of game, but it is literally out of their control. It’s the jerks running a business instead of running a company that is ruining gaming these days.
People are around fawning over the whole req and pack system now. Blows my mind.
Aside from that, 5 really butchered the storyline they had going into it from 4, spartan ops, nightfall, a few of the books, etc. The whole helmet and armor set only thing was also pretty stupid. I would have sold my copy of the game if I hadn’t gotten my Scout helmet in the first pack I opened and a decent armor set soon after that.
That being said, some of the other aspects were alright. Custom games had a fun environment with stuff like the jenga towers, Grifball is fantastic with the spartan movement, the first iteration of Breakout was a really fun take on SWAT, and the roaming infection maps were cool.
Apologize, say you’ll do better…and then follow through.
I an not going to continue posting, but I want to clear one thing up with you. Just because a subreddit has followers, does not mean that those followers are still interested in playing the game nor does it mean that those followers do play the game. That number count is not truly indicative of the current fanbase who participates in the consumption of Halo: Infinite multiplayer. However, it is indicative of the current state of people worldwide who are or were interested in Halo as a franchise. “Were” means that that person most likely is too lazy to remove Halo from their follow list or enjoys the content players put out, despite no longer playing or never having played the games.
Sorry, but I’m confused.
I have been a halo fan my whole life, and been waiting for infinite for a long time to come out and really bring back the joy and competitive gameplay of arena games, now that battle royale has taken over. Hell me, and my buddies even ditched playstation to come back for halo infinite with purchasing a series x at launch.
Now to get to why im confused. The community can’t stay with strictly loyal fans, it has to expand and bring in new fans. 343 has imo knocked it out of the park with halo infinite on all levels. Multiplayer that’s free, free unlocks, battle pass, competitive arena, etc. “sorry” GTFO this is a gaming company looking to make money, not say sorry for giving you the game FREE.
Halo strategically is a home run. In fact halo is a mega gold mine for micro transactions because we all will want to buy armour and look a certain way. Everyone thats complaining about armour and unlocking stuff needs to get a job and make the choice, buy or not to buy, or be a NO SKIN.
343 can listen to the community, but sure as hell doesn’t need to be apologetic. They have released a BANNNNNNNGER, and I am so happy it’s a great game. If you don’t agree, that’s ok! Go rip cod and get hacked on every other game.
Whoa you’re acting like infinite doesn’t already have a huge problem with cheaters/hackers in addition to the server issues currently present
