The fact that they’re still deciding on a name for “Halo Xbox One” tells me that they’re at least considering rebranding the franchise to a degree. It’s obviously going to have “Halo” in the title (or subtitle?), but the “5” part is still up in the air.
But what should they call it? There’s technically no game called just “Halo”, so it could be that. I’m normally opposed to minimalism, but it certainly looked nice in the teaser. No number or subtitle to bog it down. The same thing is currently being done by other franchises like Devil May Cry and Tomb Raider, so 343i may follow the trend.
Plus, Halo 7 just sounds silly, and they know it. A fresh start could breathe life into the franchise.
So wat u think? Is “Halo” an adequate title for HX1? What would the following games be called?
Maybe the reason they are keeping it a secret is that it’s a Halo game, but not Halo 5 like Halo ODST or Halo Reach. I honestly have no clue, but that’s definitely a possibility.

Bungie, 343 industries, and the game Halo itself is filled with 7 references so Halo 7 wouldn’t sound silly at all. Btw if they were to make a Halo 7 (it most likely won’t happen) it probably won’t be a part of the Reclaimer saga.

yeah really dude, I mean how would 7 sound silly when it’s Bungie’s number
I also wonder if there will be a lot of 7 references in Destiny
I heard that 343 is expanding the Reclaimer trilogy to become a saga, so that’s more than three games. This means that we might never see a Halo 5 or 6, which would be stupid.
It’s possible that Halo Xbox One is a spinoff like ODST or Reach.

I think the reason why it’s called a saga because there might be spin off games like you said, web series, and maybe more novels. Halo 6 will be the conclusion of the saga though.

Having such a large number in plain sight would undoubtedly look like desparate milking. Not very appealing. People are even calling Halo 4 milking, and I’m beginning to agree.

It should be called Halo 5, to make it clear that it’s a sequel to Halo 4, otherwise you’re just confusing your customers.
If you start going with subtitles like Halo: Master Chief Chronicles or something like that, people think spin-offs, something like Reach or ODST which is something Microsoft want to avoid.
Microsoft wanted to make it clear that Halo was coming to Xbox One in 2014, but 343i weren’t ready to 100% confirm what that game was exactly. Obviously it is a continuation of Master Chief’s storyline (hence the CGI) but we should stick to calling it Halo Xbox One until the official title is announced.
Also, your concerns for Halo 7 sound silly isn’t really that much of an issue, 343i only announced three more games of Master Chief’s story with the announcement of Halo 4, don’t expect them to try and carry it on after Halo 6.

They changed the name from “Reclaimer Trilogy” to “Reclaimer Saga”. Microsoft even acquired the Halo10.com domain name. They may stop at H6, but you really can’t know with Microsoft in charge.
