I just played two games of this beta update and I may never play reach again when it becomes live. People are just entirely missing the point of reach its a stand alone game not a replica of Halo 1, 2, or 3. every halo has had its own amazing quality, yes reach is entirely diffrent or I should say was but it didn’t need this. I am hoping, though I doubt it, that this thread will change things if people do believe as I do that the bloom and everything about pre 343 reach needs to remain the same. Make a playlist at least or something that has the good game. People have cried about the Br not being around, and of the bloom but honestly not having a one gun kills all is amazing. On top of that “Pros” use one gun? I mean each gun in every game has a reason Assault rife’s are not “noob” weapons they are designed to kick trash at a close range… as the Dmr is mid to long range. Please people who agree join me and maybe we can get a single bungie playlist unchanged from this update.
You will still have your default Reach to play if you want to. You don’t have to play this playlist when it fully comes out.
From what I got out of the message upon entering the menu is they dubbed it for the whole game and the playlist gets rid of it entirely you may be right I am sorry if I’m correcting you and I am wrong but like I said that’s what I thought i read
> if people do believe as I do that the bloom and everything about pre 343 reach needs to remain the same.
Default reach is the worst multiplayer game in history, so it can’t be any worse than that.
The default playlists (just about everything outside the TU playlists) are not being changed. Nothing is being changed, rather there are new additions to the game.
So if you don’t like these new additions, its as simply as play the other playlists, or play Halo 3
Again reach isn’t any other game it is reach so if you hate it hop off and leave the thread Bungie’s reach was great and this update will be what ruins it obviously everyone has their own opinion and this is mine

thank you for that I only misread then. But why would i play halo 3 lol Br -Yoink!- is a reminder of terrible times

Invalid statement, bungie completely ruined reach with how they did it, this title update and all 343i does afterwards is a miracle to the halo franchise and is whats best for it.
this title update makes halo a skill based game again. i love it. reach’s default gameplay took away the skill gap. thank you 343 keep doing what your doing
Op is mad, cuz he got stomped on by good players.
I like the title update, 85% bloom is great, only thing I would say needs more changing is the armor lock nerf but as I have said before I’m happy the way the TU is now.
The TU is great! Everything about it is better than what Reach used to be. It actually has a skill gap now. Well done 343, keep it up.
I have been runing TU since it started and I love the no bloom. A few nights ago I decided to try some Arena and was so frustrated with the Bloom.
Once the Anniversary comes out I wont be playing reach. All the maps look the same, tried of the same grey, green and blue.
TU playlist and the classic playlist that will come after will be different from vanilla reach. Why do b.net kids want everyone to play the crappy game that they play?
Were they zero bloom games? Because I agree that Zero-bloom is pretty dull. All of Reach was built around bloom. ZB makes the whole game feel wrong. But I love 85% bloom. Skill is more of factor and it doesn’t become a boring two-gun game.
The only problem I have with it is no sword block. The whole point of sword block was so the sword wouldn’t become overpowered with sprint. Either sword block has to return, or sprint has to go.

Precisely. I agree with the OP but a separate playlist for 85% bloom and another for zero bloom don’t sound unreasonable to me.
There is a reason why the TU beta is unattractive to us. The reason why is because 343 made an audio post to Facebook. In it they said that some of the changes were deliberately not supposed to be enjoyable. This is because they have to test stuff to make the game enjoyable.
Let me explain in terms of bloom. Bloom is a little too big. So people can see how ridiculous ZB is with the magnum, NR, and DMR which all kill faster than the needler due to it it was added. This lets them show that ZB can be more of a step back in a more effective manner. 85% bloom is there because 343 likes it and they know that the rest of the community will too.
The normal bloom, 85% bloom, and ZB are there so that we can see that bloom needs attention and to find the right level for it.
Other changes gave that attention too such as the ridiculous bullet and melee bloom. Or the lowered time in AC making in underpowered with the radar jammer.
No the TU isn’t bad at all. For the first time ever, there is a part of Halo Reach that takes actual skill. That’s why you hate it.
The OP appears to be completely missing the point of the title update. Take for instance your average Slayer game. Keep in mind I mean the ones that are not zero bloom. Take note that the AAs are there, although a few of them have been mitigated. Also observe the fact that bloom now works in a way that making pacing shots more vital. What 343 is doing is not making Halo 3 and a half. In fact, they’re doing the farthest thing from that. What they’re doing is making Reach the best Reach it can be. That is why they are nerfing, buffing, changing things instead of outright adding or removing features. I understand your sentiments that Reach should keep its identity as a unique game in the Halo lineage. In fact, I would go as far as to say that I agree with that. But you seem to be misunderstanding both the effects of the changes and the intention behind them. I suggest you play more than two games before posting in a public forum about your so-called “informed” standpoint.

2 things you should be aware of.
1.) the AR is terrible in default reach. there is literally no reason whatsoever to use it when you have a pistol, a DMR, or a NR as your secondary (go pick one up, and you probably spawned with the pistol). yes it IS niched at close range to be slightly better than the DMR / NR, but the pistol blows it out of the water. this ‘close’ range isnt what most would consider close range, either. the range in which the AR is actually DECENT is ‘lets stand on top of each others faces, at about twice the melee range’. but when you are at this range, why shoot at all when you can sprint forward and melee for the same result, only faster?
the AR is pointless. it serves almost no purpose in halo reach.
2.) bloom is inherently flawed on the DMR (and, to a lesser extent, the NR also). at mid range, if you shoot someone with the most flawless COMPUTER GENERATED cadence, and retain 100% accuracy, YOU CAN STILL LOSE AGAINST SOMEONE MASHING HIS R TRIGGER AND FLAILING AROUND. thats a fact. not only that, bungie deemed bloom suboptimal in its implementation.
