Multiplayer isn’t cannon. I hope they make it more like the older Halo games to be honest.

Canon*

Multiplayer, may not be Canon but the way it plays & feels at this current moment in time makes me feel like I am playing as a Spartan III, not a Spartan II like Master Chief.

As long as they make the changes to be optional and not forced like changing the default movement speed to something than what it is now.

OP, I like how your list calls Combat Evolved special because it lacked some things (bloom and armor abilities). Hate Reach much?

> hey are spartans and elites going to fight on the same side in multi-player
> again like halo 3? cause in the marketplace where halo CE anniversary is you see pics of an elite and a spartan on blue team.

That would probably be Custom Games. You can choose to be an Elite in those if you want to be.

Honestly I think we still need to feel like a Spartan 3 in MM but at the same time we do need more of the classic Halo formula as well.

This,

Reach currently, is a great game, but because it isn’t basically a copy & paste of the older game, its bad to the majority, hence it’s lower population.

I am perfectly happy for 343i to implement near perfect Classic Settings to Reach as long as they are optional, or else I will just feel like I am playing Halo 3 with a reskin and a new weapon that is as powerful as the Battle Rifle.

> OP, I like how your list calls Combat Evolved special because it lacked some things (bloom and armor abilities). Hate Reach much?

Yeah I thought about that too I just thought people would be intelligent enough to understand that the bottom few requests were Reach elements that would need to be removed. Clearly I underestimated your comprehending.

> That is so true. I remember the old day on Halo CE. It was an amazing experience.

Best shooter ever.

I concur w/OP 100%

343i has to deliver in this TU because unlesss you are a brain stem you KNOW Reach is glitchy, random and broken. AND 343i KNOWS this and hopefully fixed what is broken.

this is their golden opportunity and I honeslty hope that they succeed in fixing and morphing Reach into a more FUNctional and classic Halo experience.

Do we know who is working on the title update for Reach? I know it is 343i of course. My only hope it is not the same collective that created the Reach sandbox.

Here is a list of problems that I constantly deal with in Halo Reach that make me want to quit Halo, but my love for the franchise and the future of the company keeps me playing.

Bloom - It adds nothing to the game besides luck and crouching. When a player spams the DMR they will sometimes get lucky and out shoot the person who is using it correctly by taking steady shots with it. The other prblem is people crouch across the map. When a person gets shot across the map by someone crouching it makes it nearly impossible for the person being shot to recover.

Explosions - Grenades/Rockets/Launcher/Concussion. Explosives in general must be toned down. They are way to powerful.

Ranking system - This is what seperated Halo from any game ever made. A ranking system is missing from reach and it shows. When visiting Halocharts.com you can see they made there own ranking system, not exactly based on skill but its the better than nothing. A lot of veterans have stuck with Halo 3 because of a real ranking system. Also, when I get an onyx on reach I get bored and when I look for another playlist to play thats ranked theres nothing.

Social Playlist/Double EXP Playlist - Social was fun for the causal gamer and gamers that wanted a break from playing ranked. The other elements of social was Double EXP and the limited gametypes in the playlists. In Reach Bungie added every playlist of all time into it. Which is fun, but makes the playlists such as Living Dead ,Grifball, etc, boring. The element that double EXP brought was playlist that werent seen often and it made it more fun.

Credits/EXP - They can work together, if used right. If 343 were to use EXP as in wins to level up, like in Halo 3. The credit system should be used as it was in Reach to buy items from the armory.

NO LOADOUTS - Loadouts were soley put into the game to keep up with Call of Duty. Thats not Halo at all and is disrespecting gamers that are commited to halo since the begining.

Feel free to reply if you want to add anything or if you disagree with anything I said. Thanks

I disagree specifically about Bloom.

Whenever I play a game and use/play against the Needle Rifle, Magnum, or Plasma Repeater, I feel like Bloom works just fine on those weapons.

I don’t think it’s Bloom that shouldn’t have been added, rather I would like Bloom appear on MORE weapons, like the Needler, Turrets, Plasma Pistol, Plasma Rifle, Spiker, even purely asthetic bloom (like on the Sniper) on the Shotgun, Grenade Launcher, Concussion Rifle, and Rockets would add real visual flair to the game.

But I agree fully that Bungie went wrong SOMEWHERE on the DMR. The DMR doesn’t punish players who spam enough at all. And crouching players can’t dodge, and don’t fire that much faster, so Grenades pretty much beat them anyway, or you could strafe and dodge, while getting a free 5-shot on them. Crouching only REALLY effects Long Ranged fights, and only if the Crouching player has the element of surprise anyway.

But native bloom supports spam and luck and it should be much more reliable for timed shots to win.

And if they toned-down the Concussion Rifle it would just go nearly unused like the Brute Shot in Halo 3. Other explosions could use somewhat of a nerf (specifically Grenades, Wraiths, Scorpions. But NOT Grenade Launchers).

And Ranks were nice, but promoted second account boosting. It really wasn’t that good. It’s better to have boosting eliminated because it just throws whatever the ranking system is completely off balance and causes grief. Besides, its not that unique. GoW has it now, Magic the Gathering has it, alot of MP games nowadays are using the broken Trueskill system.

If hardcore players want to compare -Yoink- sizes, the Service Record in the game should just be accurate enough to display your BPR and in-depth stats that appear on B.Net and this site.

The DMR is random to say the least, all H3 needed with the BR was Reach’-Yoink!- detection system which is nearly flawless. With the concussion rifle on the other hand its just annoying, if I get shot once im completely stunned and will die almost everytime. The brute wasnt completely useless. In a ranked playlist it was, but social a lot of people used it just cause they liked using random weapons.

> “Teamshooting is always be more effective, but it shouldn’t take two players to teamshoot one player before he can run away/go into AL.”
>
> But that is the intent. You don’t tell the game how it should be played, the game tells you how to play. Like I have said elsewhere, the system may be different but it isn’t broken. In Reach, teamwork beats singular play. That means being a superstar is harder. It’s not that everyone can be good, it’s that it’s harder to excel above the others. That’s not reducing the skill curve, that’s raising it.
>
> And don’t tell me you play as a team, shoot as a team but get frustrated that a player CAN get away if you encounter him one on one. It shouldn’t be a problem IF you play as a team consistently.
>
> You make it seem like it isn’t about playing as a team but reducing the metagame to a few select moves that can be predicted, making it so that it isn’t a team of 4 but 4 individuals simply filling a predetermined position and the quicker players, not the better team wins.

That is the problem. The developer should cater to what us, the players, want. They shouldn’t give us a game and tell us how to play - they know what we want!

Correcting someone else’s spelling on the internet is a cool thing to do.

I guess you enjoy playing as a Spartan III that can’t fire a DMR properly because of an expanding reticule, whose grenades are far too over powered, whose sidearm pistol is the most pathetic magnum in the entire franchise, whose movement speed is hampered by strafe acceleration and low jump heights, whose reticule movement is assisted by more aim acceleration, bullet magnetism, and auto aim than any of the previous Halos?

> whose sidearm pistol is the most pathetic magnum in the entire franchise,

I felt that it was Halo 3’s that was the worst, actually.

Guys is it possible that framerate can be adjusted in a Title Update? The framerate issues need fixed.

i just made a thread about this but incase 343 dont see it here it is:

i think people should be awarded for assignations in multiplayer with the opponents dogtag. this will work like the knifing system in bad company 2. it will add a nice risk and reward element to assignations and not just the visual effect

you should also add the ability to customize our individual dogtag with unlockables as we level up or complete daily challenges . please include this in the title update

It’s 343. They’re yet to prove themselves to the community, so the TU and CEA will be good oppurtunities for them to gain the trust of the Halo fanbase. But they need to nail both.
