Title Update Discussion

Source to the story about the patch:http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/news/headline/the-halo-bulletin-62811-/85728

Overshield needs to be a double overshield.

You can make a double overshield with the custom powerup in Reach  This does remind me:

Camo needs to function differently and go camo faster or slowly depending on what weapons you are holding.

IE: AR, Plasma rifle, shotgun=fast camo after shooting, or getting shot at or just picking up camo. Sniper or rocket=go camo slower.

Also, can they please FIX the powerups?

Make camo work ala Halos 1-3, give us a better indication of overshield than the improvised fix they came up with.

I’d love to see the removal of bloom, and the addition of bleed-through melees. If the update includes these fixes, I will probably love 343 forever.

> 4) no bloom…of course. But make sure people have to at least lead their weapons instead of shooting in a braindead way.

I STRONGLY disagree with this. It’d work on LAN, but non-hitscan weapons just don’t work over XBL. 10 years from now when everyone is on a 50 mbs connection, maybe it’d be possible, but for now, all of the precision weapons need to be hitscan. Remember how terrible the H3 battle rifle was?

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, I forgot to copy this into my last post.

Camo works now. Haven’t you played MLG yet? It just looks like it’s not working in first person view, but when viewing the camo player in 3rd person shows he is completely invisible.

OT:

Once again, a bloom toggle, and a bleed through toggle. Also make strafing quicker and more responsive.

Bloom [ON/OFF] toggle.

Remove all bloom from Magun , this will give the magnum a purpose.

Anyone agree.

I’m exited about the TU, but I can’t wrap my head around people who think about these three things…
I also posted this to the B-net forums’ thread about the same topic. This is kind-of a response to all the haters of these features…
(This doesn’t represent 343i’s thoughts/opinions in any way, just to clarify)

Bloom removal:
Why should it be removed? Because you can’t pace your shots or because the bloom is practically non-existant already? I’d make the bloom even more stronger, so after 2-3 shots with the DMR the bullets would deviate A LOT = The spamming in mid range fights → gone. Imo shooting would be too easy if you don’t have to pace the shots. It gives one more thing to think about when shooting someone. Currently bloom is crap because it isn’t effective enough, spamming is still better than pacing at mid-range but at long-range it starts to show up.
I think it’s better to keep it, than not to keep it. I grew tired of the “just aim and pull the trigger and dont worry 'bout recoil” crap in other games and in H2/3 BRing…

Sword Block removal:
As someone already said, H3 sword was -blam!-(and I mean -blam!- as in too OP). Someone got it=instant control(if knew how to use it). Now with little luck and the correct timing you can save yourself from an instant death and maybe give you and your teammates a chance to kill the sword swinging maniac before he kills the entire team one-by-one(a bad thing in Slayer matches). Keep the sword block, it has saved me many times and certainly others and made the sword-wielders mad, but atleast it ain’t as OP anymore as it was in H3…

Armor Lock removal/nerf:
I don’t see the problem, why this is OP… Sure it gives you a few seconds of invulnerability, but that’s it. And if used right, can be annoying as hell but you don’t complain 'bout someone headshotting you with the sniper rifle many times because he’s skilled with it? At least I don’t, I respect it.
Countering it is easy, depending on the situation. If he’s completely alone = Easy as pie. If he has a friend/s = a big problem. If YOU have friends and he’s alone = What Armor Lock?
Just keep your distance and have at least one granade with you at all times for an easy counter against AL. Don’t whine about it to make it removed/nerfed because you can’t counter it. And no, I’m not a all-time user of AL. Only times I use it are in Firefight (and rarely in there too) and in MM vehicle-heavy maps where you have the chance of being run over while running across the map…
Again I say, Don’t remove it or even nerf it. It’s good as it is.

Thease are my opinions and thoughts, your’s may differ.

If it was up to me, I probably wouldn’t change much of anything. The game is well playable as it is. Sure there are things that would be nice to change a bit.
eg. Evade+Sword combo in Infection is insane. Why not change it to Sprint and give the zombies an all out speed buff (+20%). I played with this setting with my friends and it was hell-lot of fun.

(Cue ragemail)

-Bloom toggle
-Strafe acceleration
-Damage modifier or Bleedthrough toggle

I could like Reach with just those three options.

^
I forgot about bleedthrough!

I liked when this thread was the de facto Title Update thread. I say merge the one that SkyFighta65 made into this.

-Bloom toggle
-Strafe acceleration
-Damage modifier or Bleedthrough toggle

I could like Reach with just those three options.

I have 3 main requests, and these are all for things unfixable in Custom Games:

  1. Change DMR bloom to be larger but with a much faster reset time. At its current setting, spamming is actually promoted at medium range and it just does not work.
  2. Change vehicles in general; nerf the Banshee Bomb, buff its Plasma Cannons, remove the Ghost 'splodin abilities of AL, fix both Revenant glitches (the side seat auto-aim and the random wild flipping that happens some games, mainly on forged pieces), buff the Mongooses overall damage tolerance levels, stop the Gauss Cannon shooting through walls and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NERF THE VEHICLE DESTROYING/FLIPPING CAPABILITIES OF THE DMR AND SNIPER! They kill vehicle combat, making it dangerous to even enter a Warthog for fear of being flipped or just blown up by the enemy team’s DMR fire. A change in the damage of those two guns would help massively.
  3. Please add a “bleed-through” toggle in all custom games. The current “no bleed-through” setting on Melees is totally unfair, as after a neutral melee two players are immediately on a neutral playing field, even if one of them had only a sliver of his shield left and the other had all of it.

And as a final request, I ask that you nerf Fragmentation grenade damage. The Blast Radius is fine, though maybe a tiny bit outsized but the damage is way off. In a game with slower movement speed, grenades HAVE to be weaker, because otherwise players can just spam to their heart’s content.

Thanks for the TU 343i, I love you : )

All the best

I think they should really decrease the bullet magnetism that exists in Reach. Just watch a game of Halo 3 and you’ll see that it has very little compared to Reach. I’m not asking for anything severe, but perhaps decrease it by 50%. Let’s see some more skill added to the game.

Also watching Halo 3’s gameplay, it is obvious they had grenades close to perfect in that game. Let’s have a return of this too.

I agree most of what you said, but I am against removing vehicle damage capabilities from the DMR/Sniper. It takes a lot of DMR shots to destroy a vehicle, and decent number of sniper shots as well. A player destroying one vehicle with a sniper rifle could get more kills going after infantry. It takes teamwork to take gun down vehicles with DMRs, and teamwork should be rewarded.
EDIT: I am also against what you said about nerfing amour lock’s ghost exploding abilities. The ghosts dont explode in most AL vs Boosting ghost scenarios. If you see someone in armor lock, make sure you stop trying to splatter them. I thought it was obvious, but apparently it wasn’t. Some people might go into armor lock as you “splatter” them, but then the ghost kinda bounces off.

I personally see nothing wrong with this game, outside of a few small issues. It certainly isn’t the broken mess everyone is claiming it to be, that’s for sure. Is the bloom a little random? Sure, but nothing a small TU wouldn’t fix. AAs can stay, so long as they either fix the way AL works, or just remove it from the game (At the very least, remove it from ALL competitive modes). I believe even these small fixes could go a long way to making the online experience better.

Halo Sales:

Halo 3: 11.26 Million
