Bloomless DMR with a slower ROF

What would be nice if they made it so the ammo crates ran out after a while along with less health Packs etc. and more powerful enemies instead of like 50 grunts and like 5 elites or brutes.
I will make this quick. It is from my understanding that the TU is aimed toward the style that Halo CE was. Now I have played CE since it came out and I have played tons of it on the PC. Assuming you were to let us disable bloom on the pistol and make so we can custimize the damage and round count onit it would be pretty much the same gun in Halo CE. But there is one small difference that must be adressed and that would be the spread.
I compared the spread on the CE pistol and the spread on the reach pistol and they are pretty diferent. You can’t even get a perfect kill with the reach pistol unzoomed at medium range (the gap at countdown.) While the CE pistol you would be able to get a perfect kill all the time at medium range and almost a perfect kill all the time even at long range. So yeah, you could disable bloom and increas damage and increase round count on the pistol and you could say that it is the CE pistol. But it wont be the same due to its wide spread. I suggest you to make the spread on the reach magnum tighter so that we can atleast get a perfect kill at medium range.
All I know is that not a lot of people know this issue and it could easily be overlooked. For those who want the return of a solid Halo 1 pistol they would want this issue to resolved from the upcoming TU.
Yes, this issue definitely needs to be adressed. What about the other weapons as well? I doubt we will be seeing CE like weapons. How are they going to add the plasma weapon stun or the pistol flip after you melee? If the original Halo CE weapons are already going to be in the HCEA campaign why cant they be in multiplayer?
We might not be seeing the stun effect for the PR. But to make it play more like CE they could just increase the damage on it to cancel out the stun effect. And the pistol flip doesn’t realy matter. Plust there already is a melee animation that is like the pistol flip. Glad to see that someone realizes this. I want to get a lot of replies so 343 can see this.
I don’t think they’re going to be tweaking it that much.
They’ll probably end up just removing bloom, tweaking RoF and damage, and leaving the weapon spread alone for the most part. I doubt they’re going to balance it exactly like Halo CE.

Well why can’t they. They said that they will be doing stuff to match making so that the maps would play EXACTLY the same way we experienced it. I have an older brother who has never played any other Halo besides Halo 1 because all of them are not any good. He has been waiting for a remake for a long time. My brother is not the only one who feels like this. There are tons of people who have been waiting for a remake. I don’t want this one chance to be ruined.
I think it is about bloody time. The Title Update is so Badly needed and there’s So much to fix its not Funny. At the very least tho the Update will bring in players who always until the first update and at best will bring back older players. Making it more classic will do wonders. That said Theres a few Things I feel are major fixes-They need to up Movement speed, Jump Height and damage to 110% in online In Standard reach as well as having the Classic Combat Evolved Multiplayer.
-They need to Nerf Armour Lock Period (Remove the Frosting, Emp and 360 camera) or Make it a pick up only. And Evade needs to be reduced to 1 roll but a faster recharge
-Make melee 3 pummuls or add bleed through
-Increase Vechile Health
-Fix Up forgeworlds Damn Lag, remove the Currently blocked up areas and make it easier to Use. ‘‘Dont tell me it cant be done because modders have done it’’. Also if 343 can do it and have time Add Powerhouse’s Scenery set to Forgeworlds to give forgers more stuff to Use. This is Supposed to be forgeworld afterall. Make it so
-Fix the Bulltrue Infection Glitch and allow us to boot traitor again
-Add recoil to weapons if you want people to pace and remove Bloom (Modders have done this to) Just because bloom is working as intended like some of you say doesn’t mean squat. Its still a bad mechenic and bad mechenics must go
-Nerf the banchee Bomb but make it harder to kill in return
-Reduce the Sniper Rifles Vechile Damage.
-Remove the Sword Block. Whoever thought of this should have been shot. You cant block a shotgun or a hammer with your wrist so you shouldn’t be able to block the sword
-Fix Custom Games bugs and glitchs
THats the shortlist of what I want done. Theres other stuff that can be done and probably stuff that 343 will do that none of us have any Idea about but even doing just a handful of what Me and others are suggesting will go a long way to fixing reach and getting us ready for aniversary.
Toggle options
a)Bloom
b)weapon damage
c)grenade damage
Nerf the Sniper and DMR damage to vehicles.
We already had a bunch of anti-vehicle weapons in Halo 3, and we have them in Reach. Why-oh-why did Bungie decide to make vehicles worse and giving the sniper and DMR the power to destroy vehicles? Insanity.
Revamp the vehicle balance. I want vehicles to go back to Halo 3 style. They were good in the right hands, and a challenge to bring down, but they weren’t invincible and there were tools to take them out. Now, I would also like the Banshee bomb and tank blast to be nerfed, and the Banshee’s flipping ability to be tied to its boosting ability.
Remove Sword black. Never made sense to me.
AAs should be re-balanced, especially AL. If not, then number 6…
Matchmaking should be divided between Reach gameplay and “Classic” gameplay playlists. And by “classic”, I mean as close to Combat Evolved as you can get, however, I don’t want CE vehicle physics and invincibility. I perfer the Halo 3 system (shocking, I know).
That’s pretty much all I want out of this. I’m just happy there’s a TU at all. Thank you 343i.
1.Get rid of bloom
2.Get rid of sword block
3. Lower armor lock time to only protect for maybe three seconds just enought to protect from rockets and nades
4. Increase player movement slightly (This handles the nades. The only reason they suck is because of slower movement)
5.Make vehicles more durable
6.melee bleed through damage should be added
(All of these should have a toggle button except vehicle durability, Armor lock change, and sword block on account of being stupid additions that should be universally changed… FOREVER) Maybe then I will come back to the halo series
Seeing how both the Bungie.net forums and these forums have exploded yet again with news of the update, it seems my particular brand of…mediation is called for again. It appears both forums seem evenly split between the “Burn Everything Reach” (A bad idea) and "Don’t Touch Anything in Reach " (also a bad idea) camps again and I feel an actual, reasonable voice is needed.
Both sides seem to want to purposely blind themselves to the actual situation…for what reason, other to assuage their egos, I don’t know. However, what both sides need to realize is that Reach has flaws, but they are not these major, Halo-ending flaws. What they are instead is a bunch of little tiny annoyances that on their own would be overlooked, but together add up to much of the discontent found in Reach today. And that if they, even just some of them, were addressed much of the anger and frustration would simply vanish. While I won’t address every single thing I’ve thought of, I’ll list here the important changes that would likely make the game more enjoyable for all and clam both sides.
Title Update Suggestions
Armor Abilities
Sprint
Evade
Jetpack
Drop Shield
Hologram
Active Camo
- Active Camo now works like “Good Camo”, except when firing weapons/melee etc. (Basically you can move at full speed without losing the camo)
- You appear as a grey dot on enemy Motion Trackers even through the scramble (To counteract the better camo)
Armor Lock
Weapons
DMR
- Does less damage to medium and heavy vehicles (Banshees, Mongeese and Ghosts still take current damage)
Plasma Launcher
Rocket Launcher
Sniper Rifle
Sword
Frag Grenades
Melee
Vehicles
Banshee
Ghost
Revanant
Minor Bug Fixes
There are a few maps changes too, and maybe the odd weapon change I haven’t considered, but I believe this represents not only a reasonable, but doable set of ideas too. Even if only half or a fourth of these ideas ever got to be used, imagine how much better it would be for everyone.
Not only that, but none of these are major changes either. These are all little, individual things that could add up. Nothing like the tar-and-feathering people are demanding, or the outright ignoring little things some people are trying.

In the beta, bloom made it so that spamming didn’t work outside of point blank, sort of like how the magnum works now. Rather then removing the DMR’s bloom (and changing around the other stuff), I’d suggest they just increase the bloom back to beta levels. Might need some playtesting, but it definitely cut down on spam when bloom actually did something.

> You can’t really spam with a perfectly accurate weapon and increasing the bloom would just slow already-slow gameplay.
I agree. It bugs me when people say you could “spam” the BR. Also, bloom increases kill times which slows down gameplay, so I’m all for removing bloom to speed it up.
> Bloomless DMR with a slower ROF

The purpose of removing bloom is to not only reduce randomness, but to decrease kill times to speed up Reach’s slow gameplay. Slowing the rof while removing bloom defeats the purpose. Reach needs quicker kill times, like Halo CE and H2.
Please 343, deliver on the classic experience for CE Anniversary. 3sk pistol, fast movement, high jump height, powerful AR, etc. Finally, no bloom. The TU needs to make it so that CEA’s multiplayer is as close to the original as possible. Do this and you earn the respect of me and thousands of other fans.
I totally agree, a lot of these ideas would improve the game significantly. I just disagree with the melee part. As much as I hate double beat downs, three melees to kill sounds a bit extreme.

Why game developers don’t offer us such options beats me. Sure it would take a couple (tops?) weeks to code, but it would definitely be time well spent.
And don’t give me crap about “splitting the player base” or “confusing new players”. We live in a country that thrives because it’s founded on majority rule. Let the players vote. Let us create the game we want. Separate playlists could be made to cater to “casuals” and “try hards”
get rid of AAs and bloom

Great suggestions. I really like the one roll evade idea.
Screenlag on forge maps could be greatly reduced if we are given more efficient objects to work with. If they gave us sidewinder (or another big H1 map) with objects that have no lights or glass screenlag would be almost gone. The objects will have that crisp, clean look (think Hang 'em High)
Here’s what would make me happy:
Also, it’d be nice if they made the file share easier to access from the pregame lobby. In Halo 3 it’d be a nice time killer to look through the fileshares while the game loaded, but it takes way too long in Reach. Also, the voting system in Reach is inferior because the popular maps are chosen too often and it can get old.
As we all know, 343 is planning on releasing a patch to allow Reach to emulate a much more classic version of halo. Here’s a list of things from a fan of the original Halo. Everything in this list is very important to the gameplay flow of halo 1:
Allow powerups to respawn on a fixed timer system.
Allow powerups and powerweapons to bounce farther from grenades to allow grenade tricks. (suggestion:The orb style of the powerups can bounce and roll kind of like a lighter soccer ball. Example: giant soccer ball in forge.)
Why this is important: It adds a much deeper level of strategy to maps-especially damnation and hang em high. This depth is important to force the gameplay to be dynamic.
team spawns must be the same as halo 1. The player must be able to spawn their teammate based on their knowledge of the map’s spawn system. (google hang em high random spawns, there’s a map of the spawns somewhere online).
no bloom…of course. But make sure people have to at least lead their weapons instead of shooting in a braindead way.
Allow powerups to fall when shot if Rat Race gets remade.
Im not sure if 343 can pull this off all in one patch or if the coding is even possible-but those listed items are extremely important to why Halo 1 was a classic multiplayer that is still being played 10 years later by hardcore players.
