Title Update Discussion

If people hate Reach so much, and only want graphical and map updates to their gameplay, why even bother with Halo 4? Why not just make Halo 2 Ver 2.0, or Halo 3: 2? People disliked the gameplay updates to H3 when it first came out (e.g., lead their shots with the BR at range, equipment), and now people are doing the same with Reach (hating on Bloomn, AAs).

I know a lot of reach haters have WEEKs long ingame playtime. I admire your masochism, making the conscious choice to play such a torturous game for so long.

But just because something is new, and you can’t go back to 4 shot kills with the BR, doesn’t make it bad and a disgrace to the series. I’m not saying I immediately like everything new (I don’t) but I don’t suffer from a phobia of change.

Reach values teamwork. From the first trailer of the game, it was mentioned “no more of that Lone Wolf stuff.” If you want to play a nonteam game where you can rock a high K/D and act holier than thou and frown upon others, don’t ever play a Bungie/343 game again.

We are fortunate that Bungie actually did something NEW with their major series’ titles, unlike some other FPS developers of whom will not be mentioned. Don’t know if 343i will innovate of just do new campaign, same mp over and over with Halo 4.

Bungie made Halo Reach have a more CE feel. If you don’t like the Reach gameplay, you probably wouldn’t like CE much either.

No, they tried to. They Tried, and Failed…

They fail and this thread proves it.

There are more than 120,000 people playing Reach right now. That’s really fail. Contrary to what you believe, those angrily posting on forums, -Yoinking!- that their DMR shots won’t hit, don’t represent the entire Halo population.

120,000 in Relation to the 500,000 + that used to be on Halo 2 and 3…

I wish those days were back too. But we have Yoink!-of Yoink!-: Modern Yoink! to deal with.

Believe me, it’s not just MW that drew people away. Where would all of the Halo Fans go? There’s no other gameplay like Halo 3…

> Believe me, it’s not just MW that drew people away. Where would all of the Halo Fans go? There’s no other gameplay like Halo 3…

In 2008, this line would say “No other gameplay like H2.” People hated BR shot spread over distance almost as much as bloom. But bloom still gets the most hate out of anything I have ever seen from the Halo community. Melee timing in H3 pre patch gives it a run for it’s money though.

Look genius win Halo 3 has about 20000+ players on… changes to bloom and AA’s would almost multiply Reach’s population by 125% if most of those guys moved to Reach. Then add in the original maps from CEA and you’ll have vets from 2/CE coming back if the TU is implemented properly which would increase population further making Reach a possible contender to COD and not just the only Halo game to not only not be on top of XBox Live for its first year but be losing to a year old game…

Fix for Armor Lock:

-Reduce duration to 3 seconds.

-Nerf emp to ONLY work after the full 3 seconds.

-Remove frosting

Armor lock would be perfect.

This. Also nerf the ability to look 360% around when in AL and its perfect.

That would kill it. Now that it would be 3-4 seconds there would be no point to stay close to the guy. But good idea. I dunno it would have to be tested.

AL though was supposed to be anti explosive/splash damage/vehicle AA. A counter to the OP grenades in Reach. The way I see AL now its abused as a last ditch OH YOINK! button that stalls the game for 6 seconds or used a CQB WEAPON (EMP+Melee.) Your original post addresses both these main concerns of mine though it just pisses me off that I can be behind a guy and in a fraction of a second he turn from having his face on the ground IN THE OTHER DIRECTION TO EMP MELEE ME. So much of being aware the surrounding situation…

Good point. The only time you can spin around is after you are COMPLETLY out of AL that could work.

Apart from the P2P network, the only thing I want changing is friendly fire. I don’t want this to be post moaning, but please 343i, if you’re reading this then please disable it. Friendly fire does nothing but infuriate players such as myself. I got booted from a game this evening because I accidently betrayed a few people in a Wraith. Granted, I could have been more careful and not have gotten carried away, but I’d like to play a game knowing that I can be a bit clumsy and nothing will happen to either myself or my team mates. By all means have the option to turn it off or on in custom games, but for match making, it needs to be disabled.

People are never happy. I remember when Halo 2 came out and people were complaining, “It’s nothing like CE!”
Then Halo 3 came around: “Ugh! This isn’t Halo anymore. What happened to Halo 2?”
Now Reach comes around and guess what happens? “Reach is not Halo. It’s broken, fix it please.”

Based on this cycle, I can piece together that when Halo 4 comes around, you’ll all be praising Reach or 3. sigh

Personally, I have no problem with Reach’s multiplayer aside from Armor Lock. So what do I do? I play in the playlists with no Armor Lock. If you don’t want AAs in general, then play Classic. There’s nothing that can be done with the bloom, so I guess you’ll just have to make due, but they’ve fixed all they can without breaking code. Just enjoy the game for what it is. A game. If you don’t like Reach, why not play Halo 3? That multiplayer is still up. I’m playing it right now.

Never satisfied.

Honestly, don’t blame Friendly Fire, it makes Halo Unique, Blame bungie for screwing up. I get betrayed 3 times by someone with no prompt to kick. I kill him once and he gets the prompt to kick me…

that really is fail when h2 and h3 had triple that number 2 years later.

The best thing to do when someone betrays you is to turn the other cheek and just try and avoid him/her because of that problem you just highlighted.

I never boot people, the point is though, Sometimes it requires one betrayal, sometime several…
