I haven’t heard many people discussing about the melee system in Halo: Reach. Maybe it’s just me but I truly dislike the melee system in Reach. Too many times where I would encounter a sprinter running straight at me while I’m spamming for my dear life with my AR or DMR at them only to not pop their shields in time and us beating each other down. Does anyone else feel this way? Do you want the melee back from Halo 3? Please 343 take this issue into consideration if you are in fact planning on a Title Update. This will make me so happy beyond relief.

I wholeheartedly agree. The melee system in Reach is utter bull. Bleedthrough should be brought back.
Edit: Although I have to say the people hoping that a Title Update will be delivered to Reach are deluding themselves.

Exactly, I really hope the bleed through mechanic returns for whoever does the most damage to the opponent followed by the melee, wins the battle and the loser looks at his death cam in utter disappointment.
Would you really rather have everyone running around getting 6 AR shot 1 melee kills again? I sure don’t.
> Would you really rather have everyone running around getting 6 AR shot 1 melee kills again? I sure don’t.
It wouldn’t even really change the gameplay that drastically anyway. It would be the exact same thing as it was before the update. You would still have the sprinters but this time they will lose everytime. Come on it really wasn’t bad in Halo 3. It is sooo much worse in Reach.
I think it’s because most people here have given up on Reach.
Anyone who thinks this game is ever going to get fixed has been holding their breath for too long, Bungie felt the game was “perfect” and 343i seems more interested in creating yearly products which will severly impact their post release support.

Whats with all this talk about 343 saying they will be making some changes in matchmaking to give it that classic Halo feel then?
Armour Lock has all but dissapeared, we need to bring it back. Only a couple of hundred out of the thousands that play Reach dislike it, please bring this back.
Grenades are overly powerfull, they need to be made more difficult to throw and they have to be dodgeable if you see them coming.
I don’t know whether this is possible without completely reshaping the game but I used to be able to take on 3 people at once and win, since Reach is more MLG focused I can’t do that anymore. Please work on this if you have the time, I’m sick of being killed by people less skilled than me just because they have a buddy, in Halo 3 I could have wiped the floor with them both.
Anyone wants anything else post it and I’ll see about adding it to the OP.
> Reach is more MLG focused
Elaborate.
If you’re in a 1v2 and don’t have a power weapon you’re most likely going to lose the fight, that’s how it’s always been.
yes, but the more powerful grenades counter the double-punch.
By the rings!!! they took armor lock out?? omg im so happy!
> By the rings!!! they took armor lock out?? omg im so happy!
It’s not “out of Reach,” but most of the new playlists that are being introduced don’t have Armor Lock in them. Honestly, outside of TS, BTB, and Invasion, I’ve seen almost no AL at all.
> If you’re in a 1v2 and don’t have a power weapon you’re most likely going to lose the fight, that’s how it’s always been.
Nope, only in H3+Reach is that true. In Halo CE+Halo 2 I could take on people 1v3 and win, and 1v2’s were common if you were a skilled player.
> You mopped the floor with them using armor lock? Yeah, that means you spammed it, therefore, you are less skilled.
Reach has been made to please MLG players by promoting spawn trapping and precision weaponry at the expense of the remaining sandbox, the AR for example will always lose against the DMR at close range (assuming you don’t miss) this is a perfect example actually because that means the AR is effectively useless.
> If you’re in a 1v2 and don’t have a power weapon you’re most likely going to lose the fight, that’s how it’s always been.
Not true, in halo 3 I could go 2v6 when they had regular weapons and so did we, 2v5 if they had a power weapon, and give me or my battle bro a power weapon and you don’t get a war, you get a massacre. Reach no longer takes skill, its turned into CoD. He who shoots first wins, on second thoughts, its He who grenades first wins.

I’m not buying Halo 4 if it has Armor Lock. In fact I’d seriously consider not buying if ANY Armor Abilities are in it.
Fact is, all the people who hate armor lock do it for one of three reasons.
One: your an impatient person, which I get but if you really cant wait that long, leave the guy who’s locking and fight someone else.
Two: You rely heavily on grenades or other hard hitting weaponry, which I dislike as you are the reason why grenades need to be nerfed so badly.
Three: You consider the “pause button” to be detrimental to gameplay, as it slows down an already slow paced game, in which case, I totally understand you. I’d like Armour lock to be a burst fire ability. Like Evade. It can be used 3 times before recharging and lasts for roughly 0.5 seconds per activation. Leading up to a total lock time of 1.5 seconds if it is repeatedely tapped.
Politely discuss the above and post your, support/concerns below.

Thousands upon thousands of players despise Armor Lock. It is nothing more than a 6-7 second reset button.
-
I agree about grenades.
-
I agree about multi-enemy combat. Its indeed frustrating to be killed by two neophytes spamming the AR or the DMR.
I would like to suggest the removal of bloom. What was originally a neat idea turned out to be a horribly implemented mechanic. 343 could try to release a TU which would remove the chance factor in bloom, but enough people have been alienated by it to scorn any attempt to ameliorate the feature.
Additionally, the AR and the PR (esp. the PR) need big nerfs. Make the AR as powerful as it was in Halo 3 and buff up the PR to the same level.
Fix the Living Dead playlist. Nothing more needs to be said.
Add original multi-player maps for god’s sake. I’m so sick of seeing the same old copy-pasted Forge World/Campaign-based maps.
