You CAN kill by spamming outright, but firing optimally while using cover negates full out spamming and will win 95% of the time. Your statement implies to me that for you, 95% of the time, you are either using the wrong weapon or are extremely out of position. That or you’re not playing with the rest of your team. Or they’re not playing with you. I know it sucks when you’re on a team that doesn’t play as a team and your individual skill can’t save your for the life of ya.
As far as hardly strafing, BS. The responsiveness in Reach is better than 3 for strafing. As far as actual movement speed, Sprint, Evade and Jetpack get you away from grenades. Armor Lock outright stops them. Hologram and Active obviously do nothing to help. Drop Shield can help. You can also shoot the grenades out of the air before they get to you.
Like I’ve said before, it’s ok to not like the system but do not spout fallacies about it.
It seems to me that the top 10% of the Reach community expects the game to be made to their MLG standards. What about the people that are not good enough to notice this bloom problem or enjoy the fact the AL allows your team mates to come and save me, also its ability to drop shields is a great feature as it evens out fights in small spaces that are usually team camped.
The inclusion of luck and randomness with the DMR is helpful to many players that are not as skilled. It gives a players a chance to end massive killing sprees that cause rage quits.
The comments on player movement speed I agree with. Running a bit faster would be nice. I find that I miss a lot of battles when I’m using cloak or AL because I run so slow.
Things in Reach can get better but it is still a great game that has far less problems then COD:BO or MW2.

I wouldn’t mind if 343 just gave us “custom game” options that we are asking for, which we could use in our MLG playlist to make the best competitive settings possible. Things such as:
The options to:
Change bleed through/no bleed through
Individual shield and health modifiers
Bloom options (like contraction rate or even on/off function)
These “custom game” options would not affect the traditional multiplayer experience or any of the regular playlist in any way, it would only give us competitive gamers the tools we need to make our playlist the most competitive settings possible. -Valentine84

This is an absurd point of view which has been propagated by Bungie themselves by exaggerating the divide between casual and competitive players. The majority of Halo players are at least discriminating enough to prefer getting kills on merit instead of botched game mechanics, aren’t they? Nerfing weapons and adding randomness and cheap tactics (armor lock) to a game where it really isn’t needed doesn’t please anyone because you’ll be on the wrong end of it often enough to be annoyed.
Invulnerability (whether it comes from a regenerator, bubble shield, armor lock or whatever) just disrupts the natural flow of a Halo game in a very negative way. I really hope 343 is looking to bring Halo back to its proper niche of medium paced shooter rather than the failed attempt to blend Halo and ShadowRun that Reach currently is.
Also, the matchmaking system is supposed to handle your above hypothetical scenario of vastly differing skill levels. What are you saying here? That video games should be designed around the idea of allowing weaker players to do well against stronger players so no feelings get hurt? C’mon, that just doesn’t make sense.
yes, i want these, cuz i hate this the most:
-be able to view file share and most downloaded screenshot/ect in the game lobby while voting occurs
-CUSTOM GAME PUBLIC
-u can make a custom game, host it
-search for and join matches (quick and custom, like in uno but you can see who is the host, the map name,
-the gametype name, number of players, etc)
-bring back regular firefight to matchmaking
-more than one person allowed in the theater
extra bonus points if
-double credit weekend or 2x commendation (1 grenade conts as 2, so u get commendation twice as fast
-ranked swat
> Agreed. 343 can start greatly out of the gate if you guys take what the community has been saying and fix:
> Kill times
> Grenades
> Armor Lock
> DMR Bloom
> A few other weapon balancing issues
> Movement Speed
>
> If you can address these, the community will love you. Please, don’t pull a Bungie and ignore your fans, I’ve given up hope that they will give us the Title Update this game needs.
this^^^^ i completly agree! please 343 save reach!
DMR Bloom shouldn´t be take out because it would make the weapon even more unbalanced. Make the DMR Bloom like in the Beta it worked there and make it 12 shots in a magazine(beta). That would balance the DMR. Also make the Plasma Repeater stronger and it would be also great if they would bring back Generator Defense from the Beta.
allowing the dmr and nr to bleed through would be cool because it would allow the dmr to become a 4 shot weapon and that would fix kill times. also bloom needs a fix or atleast a toggle feature in custom games please

Wut? So bloom does not need to be fixed we should just play Halo like COD and hide behind stuff? And this game has better strafing than halo 3?! Hahahaha!
Halo should have a balance between individual skill and teamwork. It should not be impossible for a great player to take on 2 guest and survive.

thats not fair though to people who get skill in the game. people who are more skilled should win in a encounter where skill is or should be a factor. basically you are just saying the game should be made so nobody sucks and no feelings get hurt. i hate to tell you this but 343 wont go that way with the gameplay since they have added the BPR rateing.
and about MLG, even in that it’s hard to play with skill, right now most off us would be happy if we got ONE good playlist where we can play competitevly and skill decides who wins. sadly we dont have ONE playlist that meets those standards. even arena right now is being refited to be based on win/loss instead of K/D
So what is exactly happening with a title update? Which studio is taking care of it, 343i or Bungie? Can we know a general time we can expect it, or if we should even expect it at all? Some answers would be great seeing as this has become a growing question in the reach community.

Far from it, you should stop playing Halo: Reach like Halo2 or 3 than complaining how things are broken because of what you want and what are happening are 2 different things.
The DMR’s ability to fire before its bloom resets to rest can make a shot less accurate than the first bullet out of a Halo3 BR. That right there, I understand is enough for many Halo3 BR users to feel gimped.
But you know what, at least your last sentence is a better one. Instead of boasting how one system is more skilled than another, tell 343i how you prefer your aiming reticle to have more assist and that you want more jump height and want no fall damage. Not because it takes more skill, but because it lets you play a certain way that Reach doesn’t. It let’s you move around the map and shoot more quickly with little consideration for your situation.
That is a hell of a lot better than saying “Reach’s system is broken” and then spew out circumstances that actually prove that system is working as Bungie intended.

To clarify before it’s questioned. If you let the reticle reset to rest, it is far more accurate then the H3 BR because of being hitscan and having a slight hint of autoaim.
And don’t forget to use your AAs to move more often.

More jump height-yes. More autoaim? Who said that? All of us great players have stopped playing like halo 2 and 3. I -Yoink!- power weapons and camp with them. You cannot rely on a good DMR shot because there is no such thing. The game is to slow to need good aim. I -Yoink!- the sniper and rockets and shotgun and hide. Thats what it means to be good at reach. When you trump aiming and movement while making precision weapons random (random because spamming is more affective than pacing)thats what you get, and thats how great players adapt.
