Title Update Discussion

Ok, so bloom has been removed, so the TU has not been a TOTAL failure. But it is about as close to it as you can get.

The many items of failure:

ARMOUR LOCK = just remove it. It doesn’t work, it stops skilled players from getting kills because some noob can press a button, and makes power weapons useless. No nerfing will change that. I don’t know if 343 have no choice but to keep it, but AL was the most ridiculously stupid and poorly thought out idea ever conceived ever, and a blatant attempt to remove skill from Halo. What’s the point of a shotgun if a noob can AL, and melee me without me having even pulled the trigger? If someone can’t survive without it, then they should be dead. They were outskilled, no excuses.

ARENA: Still no more playlists promised. Why? Because Team Arena must obviously show all types of skill in Halo (NOT). Team slayer tests one skill, slaying as part of a team. NOT INDIVIDUAL skill, Objective play, Doubles play or anything like that. Arena needs these playlists or it is meaningless as a way of showing a player’s true worth at the game. Just because a player got Silver at TEam Arena doe snot mean they wouldn’t get Onyx in FFA where they are not let down by teammates constantly.

MAPS: New maps are desperately needed. there is too much emphasis on close quarters play (Coutdown, Sword Base, to name a few), and not enough symmetrical maps which test mid, long and short distance.

GRENADES: They are not consistent. One minute one can kill a fully shielded player, the next it will barely scratch him when hit. They need to be made more consistent so players know where they stand with them.

NEEDLER: Massively overpowered, even compared to the needle rifle at long range. Must be nerfed.

CAMO: Make it so all players are hindered by a camo in the same team, so that there are more drawbacks to using it.

And I’m just getting started.

In all, I’m very dissapointed by 343s pitiful attempts to resurrect Reach into a real game where skill truly counts, and shows that they are only selectively listening to the community. Bloom was a biggie, but so is ranked play and it has been ignored.

Well done 343, you have failed to inspire me and give me confidence in making Halo Anniversary any better than the shambles that is Halo Reach.

So…This TU…I try to strafe… Ya know to avoid being shot!! Well anywhoo… I try to strafe… It don’t work! Speed needs to be cranked up!

You do realize you can customize speed yourself.

Yes
For matchmaking I mean

The TU settings are not in matchmaking yet buddy, nothing’s changed.

I love the TU update. The zero bloom is perfect. I don’t even care about the 85 percent bloom. This is perfect.

I would just want one more thing changed with the gametypes that will be released: Do NOT put any armour abilities in them. PLEEEEEEEAAASSEEEE. And just to be specific, ((((((((((DO NOT put in sprint))))))))))).

PLease PLease PLease have no sprint and no AA’s in the classic playlists that you will hopefully put out with the oct and nov changes.

The custom game I played felt absolutely great and the game is def moving in a great direction.

A classic playlist with no AA’s will make me an extremely happy person.

Yes I realize that. I’m just saying this because it needs to be fixed BEFORE it stuck into matchmaking. Otherwise it will be run straight towards enemy pull trigger first. AKA. CoD
IMO

I’m debating this myself. I kind of want to see how it feels with and without sprint. No other AA should make it to the classic playlist, that is for sure.

Ah. Well, we’ll see what 343 has up their sleeves with the rest of the settings.

I respect your opinion person above me, but i HATE sprint. I hope none of them appear.

Who knows maybe theyll satisfy both of us and have playlists for both.

Agreed. Recall why speeds were so slow in the first place: because speeding them up would make sprint and evade underpowered compared to other Armour Abilities such as AL and Camo.

Well now that both AL and Camo are being nerfed (hopefully across all playlists), we can effectively increase default speed without making Sprint useless.

This will have the additional bonus of making grenades slightly less impossible to dodge, another problem introduced with the slow movement speed.

update the “classic” playlist that we have now with what the TU gave us and there you go.

then add another “no bloom” playlist and that will be for people who want armor abilities

problem solved!

You pretty much asked what they already planned to do. But I am going to go ahead and point out some things.

1.) You can all ready get rid of armour abilities via custom game options.

I am not sure what you are asking but you can make what you want with what I read. After making it, you can then play it with people that are like minded.

Yeah I can do that with custom game options, but it is difficult many times to find games that are not in a playlist because you have to wait until certain people on your friends list are on.

I would rather have a playlist in MM.

Awesome idea. Hopefully they satisfy both parties.

I go back and forth with it, but overall I think if they tweaked the Armor Abilities the right way (And selected the right ones for the optimal gameplay) then they should be in the Zero Bloom playlists. It may be Halo - but it is also Reach - and we should take advantage of its new features. Maybe.

this is kind of like a beta test. they are going through and seeing most of what the community is doing with ZB(zero bloom) and what they need to change. I know that some people are saying that the pistol is pretty strong now and that the NR trumps the DMR now and makes it unnecessary. So they are going to have to be weapon adjustments for maps that will use the ZB gametype.

i personally don’t like ZB. because it hurts the sandbox ecosystem. all weapons should be available for players on a map. the only reason a weapon should be omitted is because it is a power weapon and it can be easily abused. For no reason should a weapon be excluded because it outperforms another weapon in its class. an example would be the NR and DMR with ZB. it seems un-halo to have a weapon that is just better than another. one thing halo has always done is that it has allowed for combat to be based off of personal play style and combat choices. what i like about reach is that i felt like Bungie accomplished making every weapon feel balanced and not completely necessary for combat. Whatever you chose was based entirely off preference and you, the player, were not penalized for choosing certain weapon by it being outperformed by another weapon. NO weapon in the default reach sandbox completely outperformed another weapon. that was partly do to bloom and the design of the weapons that took bloom into consideration. that can explain some of the clip sizes and RoF(rate of fire) and even the damage that the weapons do. Bloom is part of the weapons designs and construction

Which might be why 343i was talking about a gametype where bloom is reduced to 85 percent. which is reasonable i guess.

No it isn’t a failure. It is a victory that they are even fixing the terrible game that bungie made. Anyway the title update is in its beta version. They will get the balance issues figured out. The only change I would really like to see would be increasing movement speed.

The Needler is overpowered? What are you smoking?

343 is doing it right. Small steps is the best way. Bungie tried to change too much at once and we all know the outcome. This is only the first step to improving Reach. I would rather 343 took their time getting it right rather rush things and have even more problems.
