New for the sake of new is an abomination. That is the path bungie has been taking these last years.
343 will save this game. Period.

Even excluding what they have showed us, there are things in Reach that are straight up broken. Invasion(slayer especially), Vehicle health/damage(Ghosts are worthless, DMR/Sniper do too much damage), banshee bombs are OP, Banshee evade is OP, plasma cannons(Banshee and Ghost) are too weak, Spartan evade it too effective, need I go on?
So, I heard that the Title update is supposed to make Halo: Reach feel like classic Halo right?
Well Reach isn’t your typical Halo game, it brought something “new” to the plate(Oh god forbid something new help us all) with armor abilities but you’ll never get that classic feeling EVER again even with the TU, unless you play classic slayer ofcourse lol. But people keep wanting Halo to go back to it’s OLD style of “I got the first shot I win” but with Reach I have to think of what he could counter with, armor lock, evade, drop sheild, and Jetpack, each one brings new tactics into play and he could essentially kill me atleast he’s got a better chance than he would have in any other Halo. I crave a challenging FPS, the old style of Halo was challenging but not like Reach is, there is just more to it and that’s what I loved about Halo Reach, and I say loved because I’m not fond of the title update.
This is my opinion and I’m sure some people will agree with while some will disagree. Most will simply say my opinion irrelevent because I disagree with.
Listen, I like the new updates. I love Bloom changes. I like Armor Lock getting fixed. I kind of like the pistol being overpowered for Anniversary playlists. I don’t like new Active Camo changes. I really like the removal of sword block. Sadly, I was expecting a little more, and I hope I don’t come off sounding boorish for saying that - things like glitch fixes, bug smashing, minor things at least, vehicles, and the Sniper. All these could be included.
Okay yeah the vehicle health system does need tweaking for sure but I’m talkin about all of the armor abilities mostly
FYI, this will not be the only title update for Reach. Time holds many secrets, my friend.
You’re complaining that we’re getting something new (well, not really), yet you support new additions to the game. You just contradicted yourself. Anyway, 343i stated that everything you like about Reach will still be there. The TU just fixes some balancing issues, like being able to force someone out of armor lock. From what I noticed, the TU dosn’t completly elimenaated bloom, it just reduces it to a manageable level. The TU caters to both sides of the argument, and that’s why I like it.
Halo has always been, the best man wins. Halo 2-3 never was written in stone, first shot = kill. Halo Reach branched out, and tried to improve upon that idea, but increased kill times; (which is what most of the fan base either loves or hates) this hopefully will make everyone happy. But are you suggesting that you can’t make Reach feel like another halo title? All that needs to be done is remove or nerf a few armor abilities (which they are doing) Remove bloom or decrease it (which they are also doing) and return weapons to their origional domain(can’t block sword with your bare hands, HOORAY!)
We will always have the origional Halo Reach playlist, if you wanted to; you could completely avoid TU playlist and extras (unless they have specific achievements tied to them)
I really hope they fix the credit system and make it fair for offline players.

I’m saying I like change in Halo that changes the tactics up, makes you think more, Reach did that but people seem to not like it
theres two different playlists, original reach and classic halo.
Therfore there is no reason for anyone to complain.

It’s not that I hate new things, just new things that don’t work and seem like they were slapped on last minute and/or no or little thought went into them. Classic slayer is an utter mess and doesn’t feel like classic halo. The TU seems to be doing what you claim impossible and bringing back good old classic halo. Claiming the old halo games revolved around getting the first shot in to win shows you don’t seem to know much about previous halo games. The only way that would work is if one of the two is a horrid shot or you’re both standing still in a wide open field with no cover. Otherwise it relied on who the more skilled play was with strafing, using cover and keeping a steady aim to tun the tides in your favor. The fact AA’s act as something to allow players a crutch to fall on to get them out of dangerous situations and turn the tides with little to no effort involved is one of the main things that make them broken. The old style was challenging. Reach is just easy and very luck based at times. You can still be in love with Reach however since they aren’t affecting the vanilla Reach, just adding new playlists with changes within them.
AA’s do not make you have to think more, they do everything for you and are spammable gimmicks. Need map control or superior positioning? Jetpack. Need to run away or get a easy kill? Evade/sprint away or sprint+double melee. About to die or need a a counter for everything? Armor lock. Need to turn invisible or jam the enemies radar? Use camo.Need a way to fool your enemy? Hologram.
Longer kill times in terms of bloom also renders individual skill worthless, and forces a static and simple from of teamwork: Stay close together, and shoot together. This is what Pro MLG Reach player Lunchbox said about teammwork in Halo Reach: “I just wait for my teammates so we outnumber them” that doesnt sound very complex to me it is very easy to understand. Then with bloom, we have random coin-flip battles of who gets luckier spamming their DMR at close-mid range. I was watching Ninja’s stream a couple night ago he got spammed 5-shots when he was pacing and said
HOW THE HELL DID HE KILL ME??" thats exactly what coin-flip battles are noone knows how or why they died. The TU is bringing CE-style gameplay back which is complex and skill-based FPS Halo and thank god.
> …This almost reaches your reticule if you’re the third player on the TV and gets in your peripheral vision.
Actually, if the names involved are long enough (and I’m not even talking max. number of characters) then the message goes through your crosshair. This makes it impossible to play a decent game of SWAT where headshots are so important, because aiming gets very difficult with text over your crosshair…
I’m so hoping 343i can fix this in a Title Update!

Just the way I like it. Except we won’t have the aimbots Halo 2 had. (so it’ll require you to aim more)
IDK why so many people are complaining about all this? You still get your exact same Reach experience! Can’t we have a TRUE Classic experience without someone throwing a fit? Man…
its really not that big of a deal IMO, i can still aim fine. but i can see why it would and does annoy people so yea…

Armor abilities are cool, as well as loadouts, but they fit a bit awkwardly into Halo, and AAs are a crutch in alot of situations, if they made it to where you could kill someone faster, which is what they’re doing in the TU by dampening bloom, then it would be alot better. But to have to shoot someone in the head 5 times, while waiting almost an entire second between shots while they’re running away because you’re beating them is just -Yoinking!- annoying. And today, some guy just kept killing me with AL, I was right about to kill him, and he uses it, them comes out of it, and jumps all crazy, and by this time, his teammates are shooting me, and I die, or he runs and hides on the other side of a wall while using it and when I get there, he kills me. AL should only be in certain game types and maps, Hemmorrhage Big Team Slayer, perfect example.
I tottaly agree with the OP.
