Bug Fixes?, New Custom Games Options?, New Weapons/Armor/Vehicles? Improved Spawning System? Enhanced Online Security ? Tweaked AA’s/Weapons/Vehicles and Bloom? 1-50 Lvl System? What?..
I would like for them to improve everything so that Halo 3 might get as fun as it once was.

A) There is much to fix.
B) Yeah… No.
In order of importance (of what I would like):
- Fix the bugs and glitches people have listed.
- Nerf Armour Lock (I would change its 360 degree view to 180 degrees and perhaps nerf it so that players in Armour Lock can’t regain shields whilst locked).
- Perhaps tweak bloom?
And if its not too much to ask for: Ridable Moa?
New weapons/vehicles can only arrive on new maps and spawns can be changed via map editing. So that’s a playlist update, not title. On the topic of playlist updates though, Living Dead needs some lovin’ with good custom game variants and maps. Default maps aren’t suited to Infection gameplay.

The population stats don’t explain anything.
I could just as well make the statement that People aren’t playing Reach because their pets all have kidney disorders which make them have to clean their carpets more instead of play a video game.
It’s probably not true, but it’s backed with about as much fact as “people don’t play Reach cause they don’t like bloom or AL”.
Here’s what’s going to happen if 343i patches Reach per your and every other whiners request:
of 100% of players right now, population of current players will drop another 30% with people fed up that they can no longer play this game the way they used to. And MAYBE… if you’re REALLY lucky, 5% of people who quit because they didn’t like bloom/AL/Sage’s beard, will come back.
Congrats, you just got yourself your Title Update you’ve always wanted, AND LOST 25% more of Reach’s population!
I’m telling you 343, do not touch the code in this game. No good can come of it.
Fix the Gauss hog glitch on Forgeworld.
Do not touch anything else.
Bloom and AL are fine.
In the words of Johnson: “Deal with it!”
This games does need fixing, a lot of people do agree.

BS. Every game needs a Patch. Reach is definitely no exception. You sound like one of those blind fanboys who think that everything Bungie does is perfect. They aren’t perfect. They make mistakes. You can’t speak for the silent majority. You don’t know what everyone thinks.
If you wanna keep the Infection Betrayal Glitch, or the teleporting Wraith/Ghost Glitch in Breakpoint, the crap melee system that promotes double beatdowns (a few examples), fine. Ruin this game. So long as it means protecting your precious Bungie it’s all good.
> I pretty much agree with everything you’ve said. Good post.

>
> Also, I loved your bit where you talked about the Person 1 VS Person 2 Scenario, because it’s so true!
Yeah I kinda know what you mean. I suppose you have to take in to account that the player speed is lower so it should be easier to kill people in a way, but then AAs in general arguably offset this, especially the bane of vehicles that is Armor Lock. I do like the gun overheat though, me and my friends always just kept the gun rolling the entire team to avoid the warm up on it, and simply because there was no point doing otherwise. The cooldown adds a little more skill to gunning on the Hog.
However, and I say this as a massive Sniper -Yoink!-, I don’t know if Snipers should tear through vehicles the way they do. The only weakness of the Sniper in terms of what it can damage has now gone, and vehicles should be a counter to what is essentially an anti-infantry power weapon. The only vehicle I think needs to be damaged by Sniper just to have another way of taking the damn thing down is the Banshee, but then if that were actually balanced properly then I think this would be negated too.
> The tracer isn’t the bullet. It is always rendered after the shot registers. Latency showing your shot being off doesn’t matter. Your shot hit where you shot it. If latency had the player out of that position at host, but in position on your screen, then you will miss.
>
> But I have experienced this with Halo 2 and 3. Sometimes connections were so bad to host that I could run into my bullets… remember those days?
Ah, interesting, I never knew that, thanks for the heads up. I don’t remember seeing my own gun fire after my death, if at all, in H3, so what’s the difference that makes it more common with Reach? Is it the hitscan? Cause as I said I didn’t play H2 online extensively enough to speak for whether it happened there, I was too wedded to my beloved Pistol :P.
Reach the game is fine 343- please don’t screw it up by taking out all the things that make it NOT Halo 3. I loved H3, just as I have H2 and CE (ODST- not so much), but Reach was supposed to be different- that’s what makes it great. If anything, some adjustments to the MP map/ gametype grouping and rotation would be nice. Here is a great proposal to address this- take the time to read it all.

Off the top of my head, I might be able to say. The AR, BR and Sniper of Halo3 weren’t hitscan and maybe because of their projectile nature, if your shot occurred after you died according to host, then maybe the shot never gets rendered. Reach being hitscan and having a window of hit-trade to simulate bullet travel AND make up for connections on the internet, things appear as they do.
To me, it is just as weird as Halo2 but without the “What the heck, I killed him and I died?” Because now both parties die when neither ensures a proper and clean kill. Meaning in Reach, sloppy kill tactics and strategies are usually to blame for dying when you kill the enemy, not the game.

No it’s not. There are glitches that need to be fixed, things that need to be added, things needing buffs/nerfs, etc.

Nah, we’re actually trying to fix the game, not kiss Bungie’s -Yoink-.

You know… I’m not saying Reach is perfect.
You’re clearly overreacting and jumping to conclusions here.
I support a lot of fixes, from a lot of the stuff you mentioned above, to stuff like the Gauss hog/Forge glitch.
Those are bugs which should be squashed.
But you… You actually think you can patch “fun” into a game.
You think that some how changing Bloom or AL to what YOU want is going to cause people to flock to Reach because that is what is keeping them away.
I’m not speaking for anyone, I’m done flaming you guys who don’t know how to manage Bloom or Armor Lock, at this point the numbers pretty much speak for themselves.
It’s a bad business decision. The majority of the community is fine with what we have now. IF a percentage of the community quit because they don’t like Bloom/AL then you can be guaranteed that a percentage of the existing community will also quit if a change is ever made.
YOU WILL LOSE PLAYERS.
DON’T DO IT.
THINK ABOUT IT, you’re making a change to the mechanics of the game to appease people who don’t even play anymore at the expense of people who do play.
This is what we call a LOSE/LOSE.

They’ve already lost people! This game went from 800,000 people on at a time to barely having over 200,000 on weekends! That’s worse than Halo 3 was doing at this time. Again, you cannot speak for the silent majority. Plenty of my friends aren’t even on this site or the Bungie forms, and they still want AL nerfed. And to “weekend gamer” they won’t care if any of the changes were made to the core gameplay. They’ll play regardless.
You think about it.
You’re being ridiculous Green.
If those numbers were people leaving because of bloom and Armor Lock you MIGHT have a point.
But
A.) You can’t prove that.
B.) Even if they did leave because of that, who would want to bring them back?
I love to have fun, competitive games with skilled players.
I do not enjoy mopping up n00b’s who can’t manage their bloom, or stand on my AL. Going +Double digits maybe your idea of fun, but it is not mine.
IF what you’re saying is true, then they quit because they couldn’t hack it. In which case, I didn’t want to play with them anyway.

You’re the one that’s being ridiculous. Telling everyone to adapt and “deal with it” is not a good excuse. And I never said that that many people left because of AL and Bloom. They probably left for numerous reasons. Those being two among many.
And I love how you are basically calling me a try-hard. I’m not a try-hard, but I do hate BS game mechanics.
And before you tell me that “I can’t prove anything”, stop saying the majority like these mechanics., because you can’t prove it either.
> And before you tell me that “I can’t prove anything”, stop saying the majority like these mechanics., because you can’t prove it either.
Hey, there are plenty of mechanics I don’t like, but I don’t go posting in threads everyday telling people how I think changing something is going to bring hundreds of thousands of Reach quitters back.
I don’t like that the RL locks on to somethings and not others, I don’t like the recharge rate on the Banshee’s FRG, I don’t like that every game of FF devolves into FRG FF.
These aren’t BS game mechanics any more than Bloom or AL. They’re just things that annoy me. Fine, I’ll deal with them, and keep playing the video game.
But you take this as an affront on your religion. It’s like Church to you… Your Sunday Mass numbers are down, ZOMG, What can we do to reverse it? AL AND BLOOM CHANGES will bring the people back!!!
No, they wont.
Change like this will only prove 343 doesn’t have enough spine to keep the faith.
More DMR Bloom but with faster reset and less NR bloom with faster reset. Make Magnum have much faster reset but the same bloom
Remove DMR’s ability to destroy vehicles
Nerf Banshee Bomb and Buff Banshee Plasma Cannons
Return Vehicle Damage back to Halo 3 version
Remove Sniper’s ability to destroy vehicles
Buff Splaser (One Shot Kill on everything)
Nerf Grenades back to H3 strength and make them more bouncy
Get rid of AL EMP entirely and lower usage time to 3 seconds
Make hologram take at least 3 AR bullets, always show up as an enemy and never flicker
Buff movement speed to 110% by default
Edit: Oh and fix the Gauss Glitch
I would kinda like an announcement that they are actually working on one. Love Reach but it does need some tweaks.
I would also like for armor lock to LOCK for x amount of time so it at least becomes consistent. My biggest problem with it is the way you can go in and out of it as much as you want. I wouldn’t mind teammates coming to the rescue if I knew the guy in AL was stuck for 2 more seconds so I could deal with his teammate then him. I am not sure if this would fix it but I am sure there has to be a way to. I like the idea of armor lock. It just needs a overhaul. IMO
