I think where the gears in my brain get jammed up is this concept that somehow I’M NOT OLD SCHOOL.

That some how, I’m “Reach” in spite of all my CE play only because I didn’t object to the new firing mechanic. I never said I loved it, but because I didn’t have a problem with it, all you “Old-School” people who actually didn’t start playing till after me have a problem with ME.

I said “don’t change it, there’s no reason to change it, no one will understand that 12 months after release”.

The bloom haters and other self-proclaimed “old-schoolers” said “that’s fine, just give us our own playlist.” And the very second that such thing is announced… Frankie not only says it’s possible to move this change to the other playlists… but the forums erupt with whiners who instead of hating on Bloom, now hate on the fact that they only get one playlist.

Where does it end?

adapt to luck or adapt skill, yea skill > luck

I am all for reach, because it is its own game.

but please, dont make another reach multiplayer. even if you get rid of the armor lock, you have still bent over the original gameplay by having something as arrogant as an armor ability.

it just makes the game play feel 100% like halo reach now…

was looking forward to having the regular pistol / AR spread

how could you… Enjoy Armor Abilities? They… add randomness, shrink the skill gap, cause loads of frustration, destroy the fabric of gameplay that Halo CE once established yet we have something considered Combat Devolved at the moment, and they also slow kill times dramaticaly.

In general, they have ruined core Halo gameplay. Reach will never be considered a true Halo as long as there are Armor Abilities.

Why anyone (let alone 343) would want to appease an attitude like this is beyond me.

It is the supreme attitude, my friend. I represent the true Halo player, the one who regards Combat Evolved as the greatest first person shooter ever. The one with the most sterling gameplay.

As many have pointed out in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSrlaIJkm0M&feature=feedlik), armor lock has been nerfed, bloom is gone on the DMR, and bleed-through melees have been reintroduced.
While these changes are exactly what I (and a large portion of the community) wanted, the changes are not final.
Frankie hinted that one of the changes in the TU would include the ability to toggle fall damage.
At 0:55 in this video, you can see that fall damage is still present after the player jetpacked too high.
This means that either 1. fall damage will be in the new classic playlist, or 2. this build is not the final build.This may not be significant to many, but I see it as a sign that we should expect more changes to come in the TU.
Please post any thoughts you have on this.

DEAR FREAKING GOODNESS! why do you people keep ARGUING! there are TWO PLAYLISTS! if you dont like the TU JUST PLAY NORMAL REACH! it makes no SENSE that you people are still arguing!

I, for one, think that fall damage should stay. Also, there are a lot of other threads about the TU, so just post in those.

Ahem. I am entitled to my very own opinion, and as long as that opinion is acceptable according to the confines of this forum, I can say whatever I want.

You can have that regard, and still enjoy Reach as is. You’ve always had that choice.

You are perfectly entitled to your own yoink opinion, but there is no reason to put down other people or get mad at the TU! is that not CLEAR?

The choice is obvious to me. It’s either listen to people who will automatically approve of whatever is done to Halo, or listen to people that actually know how Halo should play. Guess which one gets the job done.

But perhaps Reach can be more enjoyable to me with gameplay that I have become accustomed to with previous Halos?

It’s not about either of those things, this thread was never about that.

Thats the POINT! you can play the halo classic experience OR the reach experience!

i agree with guywired about encouraging that type of personality in the community by giving a highly vocal minoraty of -Yoinks!- what they want.:slight_smile:
would be better served “fixing” spawntrapping than armor lock lol. and i doubt he’d be happy about that. al stops maybe 1 or 3 kills that the otherguy thinks he shoud have had and adds a tiny bit of frusteration, spawntrapping actually removes your ability to play the game at all which must have an exponentially higher frustration or whatever the guy whining about from al than al does/
imo tu shouldn’t touch aa or any of that stuff just to please people who’ll complain about hating reach no matter what they do. bet they’ll hate the remake of ce somehow even though its just a reskin lol. something imagined about a grenade not flying right or some -Yoink-.

That’s the crux, the topic of this thread.

It’s not that I’m unwilling to adapt to your brand of Halo…

It’s that: now, if I try to adapt to your brand of Halo, it could be perceived as me approving this change, and I don’t want that.
