So what are your thoughts so far, those of you who got a beta code?
So far I haven’t run into any bugs except a Titan getting wallglitched during training but that’s it, and it only happened once.
As far as actual gameplay, I love it. The mobility of the pilots really makes the possibility of approaching a situation from ANY angle a reality. However there seems to be a balancing issue where the damage and aim mobility of the longbow dmr isn’t enough to keep up with the mobility of pilots, so it essentially becomes a long range grunt killer.
So far I’d say the best weapon is the assault rifle, coupled with a suppressor and an H sight, the smart pistol suppressed comes in second because of it’s grunt massacring abilities as well as the option to ADS still keeping it lethal at close/mid range in pilot engagements.
Worst weapons being the shotgun & DMR, both of which can be outclassed by the assault rifle or smart pistol at close range, and the assault rifle at long range.
Arc grenades + sidewinder is a good anti-Titan combo.
Stim > Invis in most cases, can’t tell you how many times stim has saved me versus how many cloaked pilots I’ve killed
In titans, double dashing into melee range of another Titan and deploying electric smoke is fun, then backing up and launching rockets as they melt not knowing what hit them.
USE BUMPER JUMPER OR EVOLVED BUTTON LAYOUTS, just like in Halo 3 where jumping was critical to getting an upper hand in a gunfight (so you needed it to be a bumper button) it’s even more important in titanfall. It you’re taking your finger off the right stick to press A to jump you are leaving yourself at a massive disadvantage!
Haven’t got a code, but it’s nice to see that it still looks a hell of alot of fun outside of a Respawn controlled demo.
My only concerns are the burn cards, I know it’s a casual game (for people like me) but those are just taking random to the max and think it’s abit too much for me- rather not have them in there.
Then again, best wait until I get the game which I will probably get later on in the year.
I got the beta code as well, and so far I’m really enjoying it. The gameplay is superb, and I’ve ran into 0 glitches. I really do like the Titan concept in matches as well. Overall, it’s far better than COD’s gameplay in my opinion.
However, I am also disappointed that there is no in-depth campaign. Without that I see no reason to pay full price for just an online experience. They could have potentially done something well with it. Just my gripe.

Well I don’t think that this is a significant loss. The “must have a campaign” requirement for $60 titles, in my view, is an arbitrary imposition because what this question does not involve is how much time you can potentially spend in game or the quality of that playtime (both of which determine the value received for the money spent.)
Anyway, as for my own impressions of Titanfall: I felt like a drunken mule barreling through combat and yet it was the most fun I’ve had with a shooter (for its own sake) in a very long while. Once I learn how to play it this might easily become one of those games I come back to 10+ years out. It’s that distinctive, it’s that well designed.
