im looking for tips and tricks to using the lightrifle.
i used the dmr when i first started playing and up until i completed the commendation. so now when i use other precision weapons i struggle. it seems that i am struggling with the lightrifle more then i should. it seemed way harder to get headshots with, with the dmr all i would do is aim at the head and it worked great. but that wasnt working with the lightrifle. so i tried going more for the body and it seems to be working better, im not doing nearly as well as i did with dmr.
Normally, you would just push the stick once to enter scope, and push it again to exit. But if you hold down the stick you enter the scope and then exit the scope the moment you let go of it.
This trick makes it so you can get 4-shot kills without having to be scoped in all the time, making the LR the best rifle in the game if you can pull it off consistently.
And just in case it wasn’t made clear up above, unscoped it has a longer kill time than any of the other weapons. It’d been said that it’s stronger scoped in, but not that it was always outmatched unscoped.
Didn’t no about the no hitscan though. That’ll help.

Using the scope is important, you want to land at least one scoped hit in most engagements. Then unscoping makes headshots a lot easier to clean the kill up.
The trick is to remember that unscoped it’s just a Battle Rifle. It has the same rate of fire, same 3 round burst, and same shots-to-kill. Only difference is that the BR kills in 13 bullets, and the Light Rifle kills in 15, meaning you have to get them with the LAST bullet in your final burst to finish them off.

Hang in there. I didn’t take up the LR until after I completed the other rifle-master commendations. Even then it took a couple hundred kills to find my LR groove. Shot placement and scoping are critical… learn those tricks and it’s like beast mode. I hear the fishstick controller layout helps, too.
I’ll go back to the LR as my primary weapon of choice right after I finish off the SR and Suppresor out of the way. It’s that much fun
I really hate the LR. Don’t misunderstand I’m not saying it sucks I’m saying I personally don’t like it. I tried using it for awhile to get the Master but I couldn’t do it. The only rifle I find more unusable is the carbine.
I like the rifles in this order
BR > DMR > LR > Carbine
I gave up on commodations now I only have loadouts with BR and DMR.
i like the carbine. in 1v1 situations you are definitely relying on the other person to miss or getting a decent jump on them. but when you are running with someone else using a higher damage slower weapon, you can really mop up with that high rate of fire.
Yea it says that but it feels like sometimes the LR has a tiny delay with headshots, I don’t know, could be that it has too little bullet magnetism aside from the low aim assist.

Thanks for this. I am also having difficulties using the Light Rifle.
As others have said, hitting 1 zoomed shot and following it up with 3 unzoomed shots is difficult to pull off, but has a pretty quick kill time if you’re able to hit everything. Also, on the more difficult side, 2 zoomed shots followed up by a melee will kill, but the LR’s zoom makes it difficult to do unless a player is directly in front of you or facing away (in which case an assassination would likely be more efficient). Give 'em both a try!
