Get good with the pistol because it’s the primarily dominant weapon in onyx level play… at least in FFA it seems to be… But don’t be afraid to use those autos in close range.

Proximitty has some really great tip videos that are right on the money… I definitely recommend his content. Some general tips here and honestly, I couldn’t have said it better than he does. Improving Quickly… Also, playing your life and staying alive… Using you knowledge of the environment to your benefit.

You just have to develop your awareness… like when you get weak, pre-nade the nearest corner for example, in case someone decides to come through. That way, anyone that happens to be there and over-extends will run into your 'nade, and suddenly, you can win the fight. Practice your shot, know creative jumps and routes, know your place on the map and constantly scan for enemies and communicate.

There’s a ton of ways to develop your Halo “instinct” and it can take time, but when you know the weapons, and know the game and how you need to think to give yourself the greatest advantage, things should fall into place fairly quickly.

Getting up to onyx is a lot about playing with a good team and getting there together. Going in alone will prove especially challenging. Abut at the same time don’t just throw together any random 4 people. If two or three people are doing all the work and one dude is constantly going 5-12 leave him, they will slow you down and get you killed.

Come up with strategies and alt strategies for maps. Learn good map controls on all maps.

Learn callouts and get adapted to using them.

Practice with your team in customs.

Don’t be afraid to play support. If you aren’t getting a lot of kill but you’re putting shots on and getting assists that is still helping the team.

While playing with a team don’t be afraid to shoot across the map even if you can’t get the kill, with proper communication you can coordinate with teamatesateamatesa to get the “clean up” kill
