Tips for WZFF (weapons, timers, vehicles.)

Ok so this thread is for some helpful tips I want to give based off of my firefight experience.

1. Weapons

This includes REQ weapons and what enemies you can effectively use them on.

Any precision weapon such as the BR, H2BR, DMR, and Magnum work very well against most enemies but when it comes to tougher enemies such as knights and hunters it’s a little different.

Here’s some weapons that can effectively kill both knights and hunters… other than rockets and incinerators… because that should be obvious.

Needler
Scattershot
Carbine (mostly blood of Suban)
Plasma caster

On top of that you should use plasma pistols on any boss in a vehicle… if you emp their vehicles enough they will jump out and you can just heat shot them.

2. Timers

Now we all know all the problems with the timers right?

It’s only 5 minutes per round, each round you are taxed 15 seconds while waiting for everything to spawn but you are taxed an extra 5 seconds on round one as you get out of the pelican.

On top of that there’s the respawn timer, for example round 5 when it’s about 35 seconds… then there’s the 25-30 seconds of walking back to the boss your trying to kill.

However there is a way around the respawn timer making the time to get back to the boss a little more manageable.

3. Vehicles

Here’s some vehicles that I’ve found are quite effective in firefight… make sure you use the wheelman armor mod to help with it.

Sword needle hog
Wasp (only in the early game)
Wraith (mostly for ramming hunters)
Mantis (mostly the warden)

And that’s all I can give humans. Have fun.

All pretty good!

I would add:
As soon as the game starts hit the req station to Max ammo (you’ll run out soon enough)

If you can, use the AI weapons against them, kill a knight? Cool, go use the incineration cannon on his buddies! AI weapons also seem to take them out quicker.

It’s more cost and time effective to splatter enemies on early rounds (this is a clear indication the AI are stupid hard to kill 1 on 1 and this shouldn’t really be the case)

If an ally is clearly sniping with a hog turret, LEVE THEM THERE.

Wheelman mod is life, use it.

Pretty much avoid melee reqs unless spawned from random reqs, (T hammer is however pretty decent)

Early rounds kill mobs to boost your req energy.

Scorpions I’d say are the best vehicle all round, bit are slow.

Remember to use boosts before games.

Side note:
I hate the fact that req energy doesn’t increase with time in FF whereas it does in normal WZ.

The scorpion is ok but in the way late rounds not very effective.

I would say scorpions are the most effective way to spend REQs in FF. You may not be able to get the easy splatters like you can with a wraith but the scorpion is way more accurate, especially when trying to fight air vehicles. Also, you are able to put more distance between your scorpion and the enemy than with your wraith, again, mostly because of accuracy.

Mantis seems a little weak to me, I can deal way more damage with a scorpion than a mantis, especially since my life span is generally longer with the scorpion because of the amount of distance you can put between yourself and the enemy. You can easily finish round 3 with a scorpion and keep it until the end of round 5.

But with how cramped some of the maps are for the scorpion… it doesn’t really work.

Stay within thrust range of cover because you’re a huge target when you lose shields. The AI is very aggressive and will hunt you down so be prepared to pillar-hump.
Great tips on here, I didn’t know about the 2x vehicle spawn. Scorpion does seem like the best REQ most of the time but as Ruthless stated there are some objective/map combos that make tanks all but useless.

Good ol’ Ruthless finally starting his jwn thread. Ya know i see you a lot when I’m on the forums. Anyways I agree with every one of your tips. Here are some things i do:

  • Pull out an ONI scout right away to get those splatter kills. It really helps the req level. - Whenever there are phaeton and mantis bosses i pull out a Voids Tear. - I always run in there. When everybody else is stting back too scared to walk into the fight. I do it with strategy though not in a suicidal fashion. - And i always use “the strategy” on round 4 when the objective is hard, and usually on round 5.Hope this also helps.

Well those are a given that you should do them…

Also the reason you see me a lot brother is because… well… I’m on here every day… there’s nothing like some good ole waypoint and talking to humans in the morning… and afternoon… and also every second of the day…

Oh man, I’ve been selling those Scout hogs and NOW they’re useful?! Also for those that are tight on higher lv REQs, ghosts (Sword, Ultra) are very effective vehicles. You can splatter the smaller enemies as well as do some real damage with its weapon.

IKR now I dont have any scout hogs and the only thing on my mind is

-Yoink!-!!!

Well theres also the benefits of being able to crush human skulls under your hoof… but yes I’ve grown addicted to waypoint… I can’t go 5 minutes without checking it.

Only good sniper: binary
use promethean weapons against pesky soldiers
avoid getting too close to soldiers so you don’t get board
that’s all i got for yah guys

The only map that I have found it cumbersome is Battle of Noctus… and even then I make it work. Even on the maps that spawn the last enemies in the back of a base, I am generally able to get hits on the bosses. There is never a WZFF game that I don’t spawn Scorpions and I generally finish with at least 50 kills and a majority of the bosses. That’s not because I am good, its because of the scorpions. That’s my strat tho, it has been very successful for me.

Depends on what the late round is.

Round 5 especially is where it’s not very effective… mostly when it’s 3 wardens in the back of a Warzone base.

It’s pretty effective on just about every other mythic wave that isn’t in the base. Except for on darkstar when they are knights in the workshop.
