Tips for using Gravity Hammer?

Does anybody have tips for using the Gravity Hammer? Does Smart Link do anything special? I just cant get consistent with it in Griffball.

Also - what variants of the Hammer do you think they will add in?

smart link can add a slight lunge but not as much as the sword. Dont be point blank with the hammer, have atleast some distance between you and the enemy after all the hammer shoot out a percussion blast when used, the blast is what kills you not necessarily the hammer hit. Once you get the kill distance down, its easy to use.

Fist of Rukt hopefully

Yea I have been trying to get the distance down. I always had an issue with that… even in H3. But i am glad to know that Smart Link helps a little. I’ll be trying that for sure tonight.

What would the Fist do differently? That was Tartarus’ hammer in H2, right? that sucker was HUGE. haha!

time your attracts with the upcoming folks, and dont be swinging like crazy. The pressure from the hammer also pushes your mates away. Also dont wait for the reticle to be red before swinging, and use your booster to get impulse or to get away from a enemy swing fast

Hammer beats Sword.
Timing is everything
Distance can still strike
Dont boost to strike, save it to avoid.
Never jump
Its called a gravity hammer for a reason, the gravity around the strike effects even those you dont aim too.

Try to get the enemy’s back to you before you strike works well for me.

try and find the kill area for the hammer. it should be 3-4ft before your targeting crosshair turns red. Just try and hit others in that area and you should always win unless the other player is that skilled with the weapon.

For Grifball, the Hammer should be your primary go to.

Don’t lunge, ever. Unless you’re going for Grif and he isn’t aware you’re right up on him, don’t lunge. Use the Hammer’s wave, it takes a bit getting used to. Also, utilize your Thruster Pack to close the gap and to back away quickly if you mess up.

You can still kill people if they are in the air, or if you jump with the hammer as well; use this to your advantage.

Never hit Grif with the hammer unless you can lunge and one-shot him; other wise you may launch him somewhere you don’t want to.

Also, you can cancel the delay after swinging the hammer with a melee attack; use this to your advantage as well.

I normally swing, thrust back, go back in for another swing. You can also use your hammer to launch you higher in to the air if you’re feeling froggy, though, I don’t recommend it unless you’re experienced enough to use it effectively. Typically, the only reason to launch yourself upward is for a moderately safe Ground Pound.

honestly im using it pretty much the same way i did in halo reach and 4 grifball, so you could maybe find many tips for that?

at least for me it feels pretty much the same, just put into halo 5 sandbox.

probably a bigger AoE/faster smash i would think,

“bigger they are the harder they fall” kinda thing

I just use a sword and do slide-lunges.

“Never Jump”?? dude I was having the best luck doing that the other day!? And i found out that not boosting to strike was good. It just feels like the Hammer is heavily based on connection and host sadly. maybe i am wrong. I’ll try to play tonight and check it out.

Another tip that is helpful (but not always a guarantee kill unless timed right) is to swing down toward your opponents feet instead of at their body because the shockwave is what kills you; the damage from it channels to them more this way than standardly aiming at their upper body (this is another way to use for the Taurus gavel instead of sending the shockwave towards your enemy, but instead along the ground for greater area of effect)

If you see something like this, please just take a moment to report it rather than posting.
