Tips for those who want to obtain SR 152 in Halo 5

WARNING: A LOT OF TEXT.

I am sharing this post because of some friends who have asked me for tips on this topic. I got the 152 some time ago, and I want to share the best tips I know, if any of you have better tips that can contribute to this discussion, please comment, the idea is that this post can help those who are reaching for that common goal and do it of the best way.

  • Initial Reflection
For those who are in search of SR152, and especially for those who are just starting out and are far away from the final goal, I would like to ask you to meditate and think very well about what you want to obtain.
You are going to have to play a lot of games, you should invest a lot of time, and as a result, you’re barely going to get a Emblem in Halo 5 and a Couting for Halo Infinite. Based on that idea, ask yourself if you really want to invest a lot of time and effort for an Emblem and Couting. I understand that obviously, everyone who wants to get the 152 currently does it for the Couting in Halo Infinite mainly, I did it for that too. But my point is that you think about what you want, if you are really willing to give so much for what you want. It would be very unfortunate if you spend hundreds of hours in thousands of games in Halo 5, so that you end up giving up before completing your goal, reaching SR 152. If this is going to be the case, you might as well not bother with it.

If you are still willing to continue despite the warning and the reflection that I gave you, then take note of this General Tips I will give you and the tips others may share on this post in the comments:

  • Play Mythic Warzone Firefight. This playlist is the most profitable, the one that offers the best xp gain compared to the other playlists. - ALWAYS use boosts. Before you start each game, always remind yourself to activate the boost. The higher your boost rarity, the better xp gain you will have. I personally spent mostly legendary boosts (Warzone XP Boost buying a lot of Legendary XP Packs, some Gambit: AI Kills), some ultra rare boost (Gambit: Medal Count), and a lot of rare and uncommon boosts (Mission: Victory and rare Warzone XP Boost). There are those who argue if Jackpot xp boosts are better than Warzone rare boosts, in my personal experience I took the average additional xp obtained from the jackpot boost and found that I get less than the 4500 xp that rare boosts give me, for this reason I seldom used the Jackpot boost and I used more that of Mission Victory boost or rare boost. There are others who say the average xp that the Jackpot boost offers greater than the 4500 xp that the rare boost offers, at this point I leave it to your discretion, but keep in mind that the Jackpot boost sometimes gives you a lot more than 4500 xp, but sometimes it gives you less. - Find a team. You can start by searching for Spartan Companies here on Halo Waypoint, you will find several active companies that make it a priority to play as a team to farm xp in Mythic FF. You can continue searching in differents Social Media until you find Whatsapp groups, discords or similar where its members announce and establish a meeting to play Mythic FF among them. - Invite skilled random players after of every game done. If you are very lonely and don’t like to look for groups, or you only have 2 or 3 people on your team, while playing a Mythic FF game, analyze your randoms mates in each game, analyze if there is someone who is very good at getting kills, if there is someone who usually uses reqs for certain rounds, if there is someone has a good performance in the game. At the end of the game, invite those skilled people, many times there are several of them who play alone, and if you invite them, they usually join you and can even add you to invite them or they invite you to play more often. But remember, your priority is to play with a team, the more people you can get, more likely you are to get a victory in each FF Match.
  • Coordinate with your mates. Try to get a microphone (like a headphones) to coordinate with them, create an Xbox Party and invite them to communicate with them. Coordinating with each other will help you to win as many games as possible, remember that you will get more xp if you finish the game with a victory. If you don’t have a micro, get the Xbox App from the Playstore and use your phone for coordinate with your team. - Learn how to play better in each round of every Mythic FF’s map. In each different round of each map, you must adapt to each enemy, to each boss and to know how to have a better performance in each round (mainly in the rounds where you must defend bases, cores or get kills) or to know how you can takedown some boss as quickly as possible. There are many videos on the web of people who manage to win each round in the best possible way (for example, in Prospect, there are clips that show you where to best position yourself with your Halo 2 Beam Rifle Delta or Twin Jewels of Maethrilliam to quickly destroy the Gruntmec and takedown easily). If you learn to play efficiently, you will be able to obtain higher req levels and thus use better weapons and vehicles to finish each game as quickly as possible. - Aim for the top places in every Mythic FF game. The higher you are on the leaderboard of each game, the more experience you will get. This point is reinforced by the previous point, because if you learn to play better and have a better performance, you will have better positions on the leaderboard in each game. When you analyze and adapt to each round of Mythic FF, and after hundreds of games and hours played on the same maps, you will already know how to perform better; you will know which vehicle or power weapon will be better for your last rounds, you will know the respawn of enemies to kill them with nades or ground pound and bosses to splatter them, that will help you to get each game finished as fast as possible, which brings me to the next point:_Continue in the comments section_
  • Get done every Mythic FF game as quicly as possible. Me and my group of friends calculated the xp yield obtained by fast games and compared them with slow games (without considering the boosts), and based on the xp per time rate we found that we obtained between 15 to 30% of additional xp yield finishing games between 8 to 12 minutes with respect to the xp gain in games of 16 minutes or more. I am sure there will be those who will tell me that “longer games = more xp gained”. But for them, I invite them to make the relation of how much experience they get per minute of play of a long game (>16min) compared to a short game. (<12 min), and you will realize that the xp you get by playing long games for an hour, I got it by playing for 40 minutes. That means that playing games of more than 16 minutes, in a long term you will take many more hours of play to get SR152 compared with who speedrunning every Mythic FF game. Before someone comments that I have many hours of game in Warzone as it says in my profile, I clarify that all those hours are mine playing Warzone and Warzone Assault, when at the beginning, after Halo 5 was released, I did not he cared about the Spartan Rank, nor did he use the XP Boost, I only spent the Reqs Boost (I clarify it because in another post someone brought my game time in Warzone to discussion when I argued why each Mythic FF game is better speedrunning). Regarding the levels of Reqs, even speedrunning the rounds will reach the Final Round with what is necessary to get good Reqs. Make sure that in the boss kill rounds, by the way kill some infantry enemies so as not to stay so low in req level, especially when the rounds finish, you have a few seconds to give a shot to some Elites, Ghosts, Hunters, Knights, etc, so that their deaths count you and you level up (or assists if you do not kill them). - Whoa Cowboy!!. Sometimes, It’s not good to go so fast. This point is to clarify some important things from the previous point. As I told you, it is a priority to finish each game as quickly as possible, that means that you must finish each round as fast as you can, but not in all rounds. There are some rounds where I recommend you and your team not to go so fast, because you run the risk of the round falling into a Bug and you end up losing the whole game. The rounds like Kill Grunts (100) or Defend Armory on Temple, or Kill Covenant on Prospect are those types of rounds, which by the way all occur in the first rounds and round 3 of March on Stormbreak (Defend the cores, which is the only higher round where you can fall into Bug), in which you cannot kill them all so fast, therefore you and your team should take those rounds very calmly, because if you kill them fast, especially right at the instant that they respawned, the game goes into a Bug, where no more enemies respawn. In the rounds of defending the armory, or the Forerunner cores in round 3 in March on Stormbreak, when no more enemies respawn, you must wait for the 5 minutes of the round to end and you move on to the next round, which means taking 2 to 3 minutes more longer in the game, but in the rounds of killing a certain number of enemies, you will lose because there will be no more enemies to kill, the 5 minutes end and you lose the game for not reaching the objective. I recommend that you and your team allow the enemies to respawn for a few seconds, and then kill them, that way they will not fall into that terrible Bug, which to this day has not been fixed. - Don’t be stingy, please. You don’t have to worry too much about the reqs, if you are careful, you will reach a point where you can endure using it once. In fact, when you get the SR152, you will realize that you have a lot of Reqs and reqpoints tleft over that you could not spend, so don’t be one of those who walk round 5 with just a magnum or battle rifle, don’t be that kind of person who expects for others to take out tanks to get on their turret, do not spend ineffective vehicles like mantis, Warthog Gauss/Rocket Launcher, Ghosts, Wasps (may be Hannibal could be fine), use Tanks or Wraiths (Phaetons are more scarce, it is up to your criteria if you use it), use banshees for Splatter bosses, it is enough that you and one of your team use a Banshee in round 5 to splatter the bosses small and infantry enemies (elites, jackals, grunts, soldiers, crawlers), while the rest of your team are in Tanks and Wraiths or with powerful Rifles to take down the Gruntmec. - Keep the best weapons, vehicles and Powerups in your inventory for Mythic FF. You must keep in mind the following, the only Reqs that you will need in this long journey playing Mythic FF will be, in short: Tanks, Wraiths, Banshees and Ghosts as far as vehicles are concerned. In weapons and powerups: Spartan Laser, brute plasma rifle, plasma pistol, plasma caster, Sentinel Beam, Beam Rifle Delta, Maethriliam Rifle, Tartarus’ Gavel, SPNKR EX and Prime, Overshield, Damage and Speed Boosts. These are the most important, there are others Weapons and vehicles that we will discuss in detail and their specific use, but mainly you are going to need these reqs, therefore, you can sell everything else in order to collect even more Reqpoints. For example, human sniper rifles are completely useless, even the Norfang, so are the shotgun, storm rifles, swords, hydras, etc. You don’t need it, not for Mythic FF, so sell it for more reqpoints. - ¿Did you know that powerups are useful in Mythic FF?. It is simple. the speed boost is useful in the early rounds if you attack on foot with your loadouts. The overshield allows you to regain your health, in addition to the additional shield from this powerup, and helps you when attacking on foot in certain final rounds; for example, in round 5 of Stormbreak where you must take down 4 Hunters, the overshield, combined with the Tartarus’ Gavel or SPNKR EX, allows you to deal damage to them without dying instantly when you exposed to them. Lastly, the damage boost when using tanks in the final round allows you to take down bosses faster. Almost nobody uses them, and many times we are near a req station, it only costs you less than 8 seconds to go, put the boost on and get back into your vehicle. For example, in the final round of Urban against 2 Knights and 2 Warden, we used to be 8 people who after destroying the Knights, we used the damage boost all and destroyed the 2 Wardens in less than 40 Seconds, we didn’t even care about The Wraith and the Banshees, all the 8 tank mates finished that round, there were even some of us who managed to get 2 damage boosts at the same time. - Don’t forget your Armor Mods. This point will be obvious to some people, but there are many players who do not even use the Armor Mods. So use them, be aware that they exist and use them; In the firsts rounds the Patrol Case helps while you shoot on foot, if you go in a vehicle like Ghosts or Wasps, don’t bother, get level 6 of Reqs as quickly as possible and use Wheelman. Wheelman is very useful while using vehicles, as it reduces EMP stun time, and increases damage resistance. If you go with a Laser or Rocket Launcher to destroy air vehicles, it helps a lot with Speed Booster or Upgraded Thrusters. It’s up to you, but use some Armor Mods, that really does makes a difference. - …¿And the Reqpacks?. I always recommend to buy Golden Packs…ever.
  • Save a fee of reqpoints. This point is important, because sometimes, throughout the year, 343 launches a pack of Warzone XP legendary boosts in the Reqstore, these cost 150k of Reqpoints (or 5 dollars if you want to spend real money). This pack brings 20 legendary Boosts that give you a lot of XP to get the SR152, it is a very good aid. In January of this year, there was a time when you could buy these boosts, I had saved about 3 million reqpoints, with which I bought 20 of these packages. That is, I bought 400 legendary boosts, which in 400 games allowed me to gain 11 million xp, while if I had not bought those boosts, in 400 games I would have barely got close to 6.8 million. This makes the difference between the time invested, since for me to get 11 million without legendary boosts I would have to have played 650 games, 250 more games using any other boost that is not legendary. That’s why Boost matters, especially Legendary, so save Reqpoints by millions, and keep checking the Reqstore when these Legendary Booster packs are available for purchase again. Don’t buy Arena ones, please. And believe me that even saving, you will have what it takes to not run out of reqs, and even better if you know how to keep your vehicles in good condition. I spent a Scorpion or a Wraith for each game, there are people who spend 3 or even 4 more, and that is not good, it is not impossible to maintain your vehicles until the end. - …¿And the others boosts?. The Reqpoints Boosts are useless, if you always play with a team winning, you can get a lot of Reqpoints, you don’t need reqpoints boosts. You can sell that boosts that you don’t gonna use in Mythic FF, like all Arena Boosts, all Reqs boosts, or gambit like: Assist or Spartan Kills, or common boosts and warzone common boosts. - Enjoy the long journey that awaits you. Mythic FF is not very difficult to stress. For this reason, have fun. Talk to your mates at the Xbox Party or Discord, talk about other topics while playing, have fun with them. You can also play while listening to music or listening to a Podcast. Remember that there are many hours of play, and at some point it becomes boring to play the same games over and over again, so to not make it so boring, talk to someone in the meantime or listen to something that distracts you and makes it easier for you to spend hours on it and effort until you achieve your final goal. These are the most general tips that you can use, there are some specific ones that I plan to share, at least the most important ones:

  • If you use the fully charged plasma pistol (like the spitfire or void’s tear) against the Phaetons from rounds like Prospect round 2, Escape from ARC round 3, Raid on Apex round 4 for example, if they fall face down the Soldier will come out immediately, and you can easily kill him with a charge of BR. - For the Gruntmec use any of the following weapons (especially if you do not have more than 5 levels of reqs): spitfire, void’s tear, sorrow of teash, sentinel beam, Spartan Laser (two well-placed shots is enough), Endgame and Selene’s Lance (if you have enough). If you are level 7 and must take down a Gruntmec from the Final Round, then use the Halo 2 Beam Rifle Delta or Twin Jewels of Maethriliam, they are the best, and you can execute them at long range. But, always keep a BR or DMR with a Sentinel or Longshot on hand to finish off the Grunt pilot with a headshot. - You can kill certain bosses if you throw them into the void. For example, the final round of March of Stormbreak of 2 Knights and 3 Wardens, the Knight that respawn on the lower platform can be pushed into the void just when it respawns, at that moment you can charm it with a Banshee or with the Wraith, it is possible that you die, but the time you save doing that is a lot, and it makes a huge difference between winning or losing the round and the game. In the Final round of Raid on Apex where you must take down a Phantom and a Wraith Temple, you can push the Phantom that brings the Wraith to the ground, and the Wraith will fall and be destroyed Instantly. - The Splinter Torret is very useful in certain rounds, since they destroy the bosses in a matter of seconds: Round 2 of Attack on Sanctum and Urban against the 3 Knights and Round 2 of Urban against the 2 Hunters. - Talon of the Lost is a highly underrated weapon, highly recommended for taking down boss Knights, especially in Round 2 of Raid on Apex and Prospect. - Yeah, I know that I said that the sword is useless in Mythic FF, but not of all. I recommend you keep about 30 to 40 swords stored to use them against the two Warden from round 3 in Attack on Sanctum, each hit stuns them, between two people with swords they are more than enough to destroy each Warden in seconds, helped with an overshield if possible, but said overshield is not essential since with each hit you recharge health. - The mongoose is not very useful, except if you know how to position them well, you put on the Armor Mod by Granadier, and you throw infinite grenades if you use the passenger seat. This strategy has been useful to destroy all 4 Hunters from round 3 in Raid on Apex in a matter of seconds while placing the mongoose in the well positioned tunnel. - Did you know that you can raise the front of the Wraith? Knowing that is key, because in this way, you can raise the Wraith wherever you want. This is very useful for the final round of March on Stormbreak to take down the 2 of the 4 Hunters from the base of the Core, you can raise the Tank on the entrance platform, and shoot from there safely, without exposing yourself to the plasma grenades of the elites. You can also raise the Tank with that mechanic inside the part of the Forerunners Cores in Skirmish At Darkstar from round 4 (which is the one that many times people lose because no one defends the Cores from inside where they are located). - In the final round of Attack on Sanctum, where you must defend the Forerunner Cores, you can use a Phaeton to push the Phantoms that the Hunters and other troops deploy with the Dash, that is useful if you push the Phantoms further from the area of the Cores, this way you keep the enemies of the Cores away while the Tanks kill all of them while trying to get to where the Cores are. - You can use the Phaeton (if you have enough of them) to get more damage to the Warden if Dash on his back, this not works for the Mythic Warden, Just Legendary Warden. Also, you can push them outside the Core Base, in that way, your mates can kill him fast too. - Again, in the final round of Attack on Sanctum, where 2 Knights and 2 Warden have to be killed, you can use the Scorpion Tank to climb it on top of the parking lot. For this you can look for videos on how to make them, but in summary, you use the elevators that are near the temple that point towards the parking lot. I used to put the tank in reverse, let me push and fall over the parking lot, a perfect hiding place in which it is safer to destroy all bosses without the Knights with the Incineration Cannons destroying you in a matter of seconds. Right there, you protect yourself from all the Warden’s attacks, and you have the perfect angle to finish them all.If anyone has other tips that you have not put here, share them. Hope it helps, good luck to those who are struggling to get the SR152.

thank you for all these beautiful tips.

If you play Arena you should at least consider using Warzone boosts. In your case it can help a lot, if you are good at kills, the Spartan Kills boost will give you more experience than the rare boosts of Warzone (and obviously much more than those of Arena), and these boosts appear very frequently when you buy Golden and Silver Packs. I had a friend who did that by playing with a couple of other friends of his, he did it by playing Swat, infection, or some featured list (the ones with a star) from the social playlists. Even so it took much longer than those who to farm xp in Mythic FF, playing Arena the road will be even longer.

If you’re looking to get the 152 soon, the best I can recommend is FF or some Warzone’s Weekly Featured List. In my case, I was never a fan of FF, I really liked Warzone Assault or Turbo, and especially Arena (I really like Breakout and Infection) but not FF. Still I chose to invest my time in FF to reach my goal as soon as possible, as I wanted to finish everything to play other games that I had purchased, while Halo Infinite is released.

Thank you for all these tips! I want to get 152 before Infinite comes out, so this thread will be really helpful later.

great tips, i´ll look for a team and how to raise/lift tanks

Great tips man. Everyone on the grind should read this

Op took some time on this, much appreciated.

These tips were much appreciated, friend. The disclaimer in the beginning was definitely necessary. Mental health and life’s obligations will always have to come before 152, and I’m glad you chose to acknowledge this simple fact. That said, I wish all my fellow Spartans grinding with me a speedy and successful attainment of 152.

These tips would have served me well from the start, but the support you give to those who really lack a lot to level 152 is appreciated.
