Hey all I’ve finished the kill commendations for everything except those pesky Grunt Goblins. They seem to only show up really rarely and I don’t know how to be the one that gets the kill. Any tips on how to find them or how to be the one that lands the killing blow?
Just get a heavy weapon and deal a lot of damage when its close to death. You can also get a few friends with you, that have plasma weapons to take down the shield that is protecting the grunt inside the mech, while you wait with a Magnum/BR/DMR to finish the grunt off.
A strategy that I found to be pretty effective is to wait until he is very close to death, and then unload on him up close with an Answer.
If you want to insta kill a grunt mech, use a Sorrow of Teash and melt his shields then headshot the grunt controlling the mech. This also works with an Endgame or Sentinel Beam but I think the Sorrow of Teash works best against his shields.
You just have to play more Firefight. I believe the only two maps without at least one or two rounds with a Grunt Mech in it are ARC and Urban. If you can’t get the canopy off, it’s all about timing for the killing blow. You have to wait until he only has like a tiny amount of health left before taking your shot. A little more or less depending on what you’re using.
As others have said: equip a top tier power weapon/vehicle and time your killshot well. Won’t always guarantee the kill (others are probably trying to do the same thing as you), but it will increase your chances by a lot. Also: take cover. Grunt Goblin Super Needler burst+You in the open=a Cadaver-ific outcome
They pop up a lot in WZFF, personally i have got majority of the kills by being in a wasp or any good vehicle that hits a fair amount of damage. With the right teammates in warzone firefight you can even snipe kills from a ghost.
I already have thaht commendations, I killed very easy all the mecha grunts in firefight breaking his shield
WZFF is your best bet. But, you need to be one to deliver the kill shot.
Do WZFirefight. Use a weapon good at draining shields then target the Shield hatch protecting the grunt. It will break and you can kill the Grunt pilot

Okay they usually spawn at round 3 so that should let you have access to at 5 or 6 req level weapons and etc. I personally recommend using brute plasma rifle or its variants or the sentinel beam to wipe out the shield and have either pistol or Halo5/2 BR to quickly headshot the grunt and have the speed booster mod equipped to give you a jump boost to quickly reach the grunt and jump high enough for a kill. One final method that is guaranteed to get the shields down of a grunt goblin is the halo 2 beam rifle delta which destroys the shield of the white goblin with the golden shield in 7 shots leaving the grunt wide open for headshot. The map where the grunt goblins appear is on attack on sanctum, on march on stormbreak, Raid on Apex 7, skirmish on darkstar, temple, and prospect. There are some rounds where they appear in pairs of twos or sometimes as one in final rounds.
Use a tank/wraith. Keep your distance. Make sure to time it right to get the last shot. Even if that means driving right up to the grunt to block out some of your teammates shots.

Twin Jewels of Maethrillian is a viable choice too, though you have to maintain your aim for the desired effect.
Never was too fond of that boss.
