Tips for controller layout

Hello,
I’m new here but not to halo. I was very good at halo 2 but my performance in reach is unsatisfactory to me anyways. I only have one hand so hitting the left bumper and manipulating the left joystick simotaneously is difficult.

I mainly have problems with sprint and the jet pack. Any layout suggestions?

Whatever the left bumper is would need to be unimportant.

The fact that you can actually play with one hand is pretty incredible.

I salute you for that, sir.

Thank you sir!
I have 2 palms just no fingers on left side. So I hit grenade with my knee. The old Xbox controller was much better for me

Ah man. That’s one hell of a desire to kick -Yoink-! A true Spartan. I salute you.

However, me not being in that situation I got no idea what to recommend for you.

Wow! I applaud you for being able to play with one hand. That’s pretty incredible.

Also, I just checked out the different layouts for you. Unfortunately, the left bumper is always melee, equipment*sprint, jetpack, etc or jumping. All of which are fairly important.

So you may have to sacrifice one of those 3. =/

If you’re able to afford it at some point, I recommend you buying this controller.

There is also a version of that controller that is 10 dollars cheaper. The big difference between the 2 is the adjustable joysticks<-which may not be your biggest concern anyways.

The reason I recommend this controller is because it has 2 additional bumper buttons. So instead of having a left bumper and a right bumper, the controller actually has 2 left and 2 right bumpers. It gives you the option to map any certain button option to the extra bumper section.

I haven’t gotten this controller for myself yet, but if i’m correct, with this controller you would be able to pick a control layout that you like best, and put whatever option that was on the left bumper, onto the 2nd right bumper.

For example:If you picked a control layout that has equipment on left bumper, you’d be able to map that option to the 2nd right bumper instead!

I hope I explained it properly.=P

The controller with adjustable sticks is 49.99 and the one without adjustable sticks is 39.99. Both have the extra bumpers and both are available on Razer’s website.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.^^;

EDIT:That controller is made by Razer so it is a 100% legit controller. No mods or anything. =P Biggest downfall is the fact that it’s wired.

It would take some special rigging, but I bet you could create foot pedals to compensate for any buttons you cant access with the afflicted hand. While not being a technician, I believe most of the buttons on a controller work on a contact/no contact type basis. A little ingenuity and tinkering, a trip to your local electronic store and you could be in business. Maybe even using some of the guitar hero foot pedals would be possible.

Welcome to Waypoint =)

I don’t know if modding a controller would get you banned, but you could try doing something like this.

That was cool to watch that guy shred with one hand, awesome link.

Wow! You are possibly the most dedicated gamer ever. I don’t think I could ever manage to play any video games with only one hand. I’m very impressed.

Why is it you can play with one hand but I can barely play with two…?

Haha…that controller would be great for PC gamers trying to play Xbox. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, OP, if the guy who made the video is still active on YT, you could try talking to him.

Haha thanks guys! I bookmarked both pages and will try those methods out. I think with halo 4 having crouch and sprint switched I’ll be alright but in the mean time I’ll try the above and map the AAs to the extra right bumper!

I actually don’t consider myself much of a gamer lol. I bought the original Xbox after getting addicted to halo in 01 or so then bought the 360 last week for CEA but it also came with reach limited edition. But I also play guitar, fly fish, and among other things tie my own shoes lol.

Feel free to send me a friend request haha I have all of 4 friends right now.

Again thanks for the suggestions. I may really like the wired controller because I’m tired of buying batteries already lol.

I had this joystick for the original xbox that had some very convoluted instructions for remapping the buttons. Sorry if you’ve already tried this to no success, but write Microsoft direct. I wouldn’t be shocked if they had a product for remapping. Failing that, there are some 3rd party options. Here’s a video of one I just found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ui6blCBFnsw
Love the foot pedal idea. Hmm…that really sounds more intuitive for armor abilities either way. But, if you haven’t written them yet, try to use 1st person plurals wherever possible (we/us). It conveys not only that you’re a potential customer demographic to be tapped, but also that YOU would speak (advertise) for them (Microsoft) should they provide you with a Microsoft solution. It never hurts to give actual incentive to respond to requests. Good luck!

Good idea! I’ll see what we can do.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but the razer onza controller won’t work. You can only map “X,Y,B,A and triggers” to the bumpers no left/ right bumper switching.

Can someone tell me who to contact :frowning:

I don’t know who you could talk to.
