I’ve been very vocal for Reach as DLC for MCC…and it pains me to admit I’ve never played it. I feel that MCC should become a hub for Halo pre-Halo 5…with an added cost. But now I’m starting to regret voicing my opinion. At it’s current state (limited armor mix-and-match), MCC might not be equipped to add this game. I’ve had to play Destiny 2 to scratch my Halo Customize itch. (Also, is it just me, or is Destiny’s music more like Halo than Halo 5s?) I’m going to grab Halo Reach…or try to, at least. Any tips for a player focusing on Customizing, but not neglecting other aspects of Reach?
Since you want to focus on customizing, I’m guessing you want to collect as many armor pieces as possible. You’ll need a ton of credits to do so. I suggest playing through the campaign at least once on Legendary since you get a good amount of rewards (and it’s a great experience in itself), complete challenges whenever possible (these are listed in the main menu), and try to complete commendations. Avoid Grifball if you can.
And yeah, Destiny’s music might seem more like Halo since Marty O’Donnell is the composer for all FPS Halo games before Halo CE Anniversary and Destiny 1 and 2.

Thank you. I was assuming there was a grind, but nevertheless, I hope it’ll be worth it. Also, wasn’t Marty fired before Destiny 1 was released?

Yeah, it’s a grind haha. I believe Reach is second only to Halo 5 in number of hours to reach max level. But it’s just so much fun playing Firefight. I can’t wait for the back compat team to enhance it for X. I might not play any other Halo game haha.
Sorry, yeah you’re right. He was fired in April 2014 but he’d already done his work composing and directing. So he’s credited with the soundtrack for that game but not 2. But his buddy, Michael Salvatori, was the main composer for 2. He worked with Marty on the Halo games as well so there’s a bit of that flavor.

Really? Thanks for the info.

You’re welcome
Enjoy your time with Reach! It’s a great game.
Firefight is good for credits, it’s less effective next to Grifball but completely legit.
There is the choice between Anniversary Firefight, Firefight and Score Attack.
Score Attack is only a single round but it’s always single player too, this is better for several commendations.

No random lampshade references tonight Grunt?
As for noob tips, just play the game and(even though it pays out in Cr well), avoid the griffball playlist entirely. As a day one player and probably one of the first couple hundred inheritors I’d recommend, in addition to completing the non-firefight challenges, to mainly play FF and not select any handicap setting. Unlike in MM where this is default in FF for some reason you have to press down once before you spawn initially to get the normal loadout. After a handful of games you’ll quickly learn the enemy spawns and how to dispatch them rapidly; the only thing holding you back is your random “teammates” that use the handicap settings and slow down gameplay to a crawl.

The Fuel Rod Gun isn’t bad it can chain more enemies than a Rocket Launcher (and it’s possible to pick up said RL if a teammate die) .
On Installation 04, Holdout and Courtyard the Jetpack can be useful (mostly with a RL) but a lot less on other maps.
