This thread is for people who want to share their tips or strategy’s for WFF.
Since it is difficult to defeat all 5 rounds, players here can gain the necessary knowledge to complete those rounds.
I haven’t played enough to have one myself but as right now, I believe using extended mags and Kinect bolts as load out helps.
Also vehicles like warthogs and scorpions are very effective.
Please feel free to share your wisdom with the Halo community
You’ve hit on some good points OP:
- Extended mags are the way to go, also when you have to destroy vehicles it makes sense to switch to the kinetic bolts
- Vehicles play a big importance in winning in FF, especially your Oni hogs etc
- In the early rounds when Phantom drops enemies find a spot with cover and throw your grenades right when they land, its a great way to get the combination kills.
- Run with a partner, even if your queuing solo, find a guy and fight with him even if your not talking. Wandering around without any help is a sure way to die quickly.
- Unfortunately alot of these bosses require some heavy level REQ, so no more selling all my REQ cards when I open a pack!
- Most of all have fun. Alot of people say its too hard, but thats the point of classic firefight. In ODST you never win. theres literally no ending point so it makes sense that your only going to win a low percentage in WZFF, it has to be earned.
I’m curious to see what some other basic tips are that people have
I’d say coordination is most important. With all the bosses regaining health if you’re not actually putting them down you’re wasting time. It’s almost certainly better for the whole squad to try and focus on one of them at the time. I was in a level to take down four banshees, we almost had one down to a quarter health, but it completely recovered as people died or focused on one of the other three.
i think one of the points DrknHalo makes is good. I had been selling a lot of my lower level vehicles and power weapons but FF kind of requires you to spam them. so I’m gonna start holding on to those things to rain down more destruction
wally has a good point too! gotta coordinate especially with the banshees cuz it takes several shots to bring the shields alone down, and then several clips to do any actual health damage. so coordinating those attacks is the only way to go
Communication is key. If one player is dead the others need to make sure not to die at the same time otherwise the fire concentration on the bosses is decreased exponentially. This becomes increasingly more important with the increased re spawn timers.

thanks. And I agree with you
Wraiths are pretty effective against knights as long as they’re not targeting you.
Each faction is weakest against its own faction weapons
some bosses don’t take damage from vehicles but do for load outs mainly precision and viseversa.
When using a wasp keep circling and it helps if the enemy targets the rest of your team preferably a heavy vehicle. I managed to go from round 2 in a wasp to the finish line didn’t get killed. When using wasp as soon as you can add a damage boost.
Using a cheap vehicle and going for splatters is a good plan early on.
Don’t request a req until you know where it is you need to go and what you are going to be killing avoid getting some thing during the break.
Yeah I used a wraith when the mantis was in the Garage. He was on the top level and I set up shop right by the opening to the top level. Had a guy around me covering my wraith from infantry and I was just pumping in shots. We defeated him with 2 seconds remaining.
Plasma caster works wonders for most situations
On Attack on Sanctum I plasma pistoled a Phaeton and managed to hijack it! The pilot jumped out because the Phaeton landed in a dodgy place, letting me pick it up on round 2.
I should’ve filmed it…
Communication and coordination are the most basic, even if you are the only one talking, it let’s others know some important information.
Most of this is common sense, but you never know who this information might be useful too.
Disclaimer Sometimes these will NOT work, depending on AI pathfinding, team mates or bull -Yoink- spawns.
Honestly, I found the beta to be incredibly easy, that being said.
The actual war zone firefight Mode was a bit difficult at first, but after playing around 10-15 games, I’m starting to see it very differently
for example, in my first few games, I struggled against knights in close quarters, I’m not saying I can wipe out a room of knights now, but two or three isn’t really a problem any more (Excluding bosses of course)Tips: In the case of knights, Focus One shoulder, then when its reeling back and opening its face plate, a precision shot will kill it, with some practice, it’ll become second nature. The round I’m finding the most difficulty with is “Defend the *insert location here*” ones, but in the end, that one comes down to teamwork.
Tips :
-
If its a two story building, forget the first floor, its a deadzone, maintain control of the second and focus the entrances. - When in doubt, Hide. enemies seem to aggro to the loudest gun in the room, if your team are throwing bodies to the enemies and making no progress, try and get a quiet spot in the building, they shouldn’t bother you as long as they have someone to shoot. - If the objective has a health bar, things get a little bit tricky, maintain the high ground, making sure to pick your targets, there’s no point in trying to kill a sniper when there’s a knight or a sword elite breathing down your necks, that being said, don’t focus down CQC Enemies when your team are being harassed by a sniper.Boss rounds are most likely going to give you the most trouble
Tips:
-
Occasionally, vehicles are hijack-able, but not always, If you’re not absolutely positive that you can take that ghost, don’t - FORGET ABOUT ASSASSINATING WARDEN, Having an entire team meleeing Mr. Eternal’s spine won’t help anyone, He’ll most likely have friends, you’re better off just opening up at a safe distance, than sacrificing yourself for a lost cause. - Hunters are a relatively easy boss to fight, just focus their back, if they’re aggro’d to you, and you’re confident in your kiting, taking potshots at their neck is also helpful. - Scorpions and wraiths are devastating, Those tools of destruction can melt most enemies in a few shots, but for armoured war machines they’re incredibly fragile, use them as artillery, Not front liners. - And possibly the most important, PLASMA PISTOLS are Incredibly helpful against most covenant bosses and heavies (excluding hunters), The heaviest class of elite’s shields will drop after 3 charged plasma shots, and one precision shot to the head will put them down, landing you an easy boss kill.
