I play on a One S, and until tonight Infinite was basically unplayable. It was like playing trough a screen door with a strobe light flashing in my face, and aiming was miserable - kills felt like pure chance.
I was determined to figure things out or stop playing until I could get my hands on a Series X.
I went to disable all of the features that my One S is using with my nice TV to see if dumbing things down would help. I set out to disable 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, etc, and that is when I noticed an option under ‘Video modes’ for ‘Allow variable refresh rate’ with an unchecked box. I checked it having read a Digital Foundry article explaining the One S is 30fps and uses variable resolutions to get by.
Well now, it worked! After tweaking my controller settings slightly, it was perfect and felt like Halo.
