Yep it counts. I got the timmy helmet because my friends and i dispised the multiplayer so all we did was mess around in custom games. You’ll get it eventually.

Actually I’m pretty sure 343 implemented something to check for rubber banding, so I don’t think you’ll get it for Afking, not that it’s that hard to get people to join, just make a nice map and host an infection lobby, you’ll have the helmet in no time AND you’ll have a blast doing it. Alternatively you could also tailor slayer modes to your linking and host custom lobbies that way.
There’s always some good custom games going on so take your time, enjoy yourself and get it the old fashioned way. Have fun!
