Has anything been said beyond just “sometime before 2022”? I am struggling to find anything.
I have no expectations of MP getting attention during day 1 campaign release (heck, they didn’t even update they shop today) but a shouts out to the people that can wait to play campaign would sure be nice.
Here is my estimated timeline:
Looking at the Co-op campaign and Forge timeline, this is my best estimate.
That’s incredibly pessimistic and I don’t think that previous dev response warrants your level of disdain. The biggest gripes so far: xp progression, cosmetics, playlist selection, challenges, in basically that order and everything else has just been kooky off the wall stuff because the game play feels good. They fixed XP real quick. They put better cosmetics in the shop and people forget about weekly challenge rewards, sorry folks right now that’s all they can do and there are ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DAYS left or something like that right? You’ll get some new armor pieces and weapon attachments, I promise. Now the dedicated players are gonna cap their season that much faster and be forced to complete challenges after they burned up all their swaps in the first month or heaven forbid play for fun and the thought is killing some people, straight up.
Maybe I am naïve but christmas ain’t that far away. I am a little annoyed that the devs haven’t been more forthcoming, i.e. telling us to be patient while they slow roll individual segments of this game, but giving us a playable MP beta and then leaving us kinda hanging here while rolling out the next phase without a peep.
I don’t even care that things are randomized at the moment because they gotta get that good feedback. Key word: good.
The gameplay feels good… When it works. The official launch amplified the issues already present in the Beta.
If you didn’t follow the articles that came out today: the game basically was remade/salvaged from scratch in 2019. So what we have currently is a build with less than 2 years of development. The devs are on some well deserved vacation time now, after the crunch, so no new dev until January most likely, or very minor stuff. I’m sorry if it’s a depressing view, but it’s the reality of games in 2021: launch barebones now, gather money, fix later. -Yoink!- and 343 are no exception.
Best bet is to just be patient and hope this doesn’t become abandonware. 
I read that article on Bloomberg, too, and can’t say I was surprised at all. It’s actually kinda impressive they were able to get out what we have now, out the door and in a playable state. I can’t even imagine what this game would’ve looked like if it were released last year. Reminded me of Halo 2’s development hell stories and I’m sure more details will come to light in the future about Infinite’s. Some real shaking up in upper management needs to happen in 343, that’s for damn sure.
Yeah I mean that’s kinda my whole point here… Riding that knife’s edge of patience/fear of abandonment is made a lot easier if you give us a little morsel in the meantime, and they have done that. I’m used to being fed scraps. We all are.
