Well Halo 4 was a very good game and I mean very good but there are a couple of things I’m confused about.
The plot with the halo rings and the composer fits, yes I’ve also read cryptum and primodium so I know whats going on before the rings fired but one thing that confused me is the waypoint videos. The Librarian put the Didact in Requiem obviously for turning ancient humans into Prometheand but how exactly did he fire the halo rings?
I understand from Cryptum that we had the original didact and bornsteller. Original died and bornstellar essentially became the new one (well he also had all his memories). Now this is where it gets confusing, on both halo nation and pedia it says that the composer plan was enacted by one of two didacts like saying there were 2 different ones when they are essentially the same, how could this be possible? This was event with the composer was happening at the time of the forerunner flood war, when bornstellar became the didact so as the didact enforcing this non-halo plan as he wanted, most of all after cramming her husband in that cryptum on requim, if he was in stasis, how could he have fired the ring or had the conversation with her before the final moments of the activation? Im sorry this is just a bit misleading for now, unless silentium makes sense out of all this. We know the didact did not awaken from his cryptum until 4 from the waypoint video but then there is the activation.
Can someone clear this up and make sense of when the librarian crams her husband into the cryptum and their final conversation before the activation? We at least have sense for how didact survived being in requiem at the time.
To be honest, I had this same question myself. The only thing I can think of in the Cryptum and Primordium books, they never actually state that the original Didact was executed. He was supposed to be, but I don’t remember them mentioning it (I could have just missed it). So it could have been his original form that fired the Halos. But I do agree that it doesn’t make sense because the Librarian was supposedly on Earth when the Halos fired by the Didact, but in the terminals he was in stasis already. I hope they do clear this up in future games/books.
I will say though with the complexity of the Halo universe, this isn’t the first time there was a huge plot hole in the games. In the game of Reach, Dr. Halsey is seen talking to Noble Team, and all of Noble Team (excluding Jorge) was a Spartan III, but in the books, Halsey doesn’t find out about the Spartan III program until the book Glasslands which takes place after Halo 3. So this could just be another plot hole that can hopefully be fixed.
Actually Halsey did not have a plot hole there, Reach was consistant. In fact because this was ‘expanded’ material, for the book the fall of reach, they added new content to the re-release of the fall of reach including how Halsey was captured years before by the covenant when chief and the others go to rescue her in the legends short, the package.
In the reach collectors edition, Halsey’s journal mentioned she actually met noble team before all the bad stuff on reach and she wondered and asked jorge about the armor. All he could say was that it was classified. Plus Halsey finds out about the spartan 3s in ghosts of Onyx, I mean she was there when they jump into the dyson sphere. Also in glasslands it even makes a mention to how she realizes that was who the other 5 spartans were and that this is the program they came from. Also they have mentioned again and again, during the final level of Reach, that was a fragment of cortana. Main cortana was with keyes during the battle over reach. The discovery of installation 04 for the UNSC was both direct and accidental. The reach artifact was mentioning the artifact and how humanity was made to be the inheritors or reclaimers, fragment cortana which N-six brings to keyes worked on this. Main cortana hade the coordinates to Installation 04 and used this with her rejoined fragment to jump to there. It was technically a randomized jump for the cole protocol.
This was consistant, oh and I just found out the answer to my question, its said that the original didact died by the master builder. He did not, he was left to die on a flood infested system. In silentium they have said he is actually alive. Halo pedia cleared this up. so we have 2 didacts, the Ur-didact and bornsteller-didact. I see the difference now. Im guessing it was Ur-didact who did the composer crap after coming back, he did the bad stuff librain shoves him in the cryptum to think about what he did. Im guessing it was the bornsteller-didact who fired the rings. he had compassion and no hate for humans so it figures he died.
