Yeah it is pretty odd IMO as well. It would make more sense if there was per match XP as well but being that currently XP is only granted through challenges, it makes me want to nearly complete all challenges in a match, then activate the boost, then complete. A lot of the boost seems to be wasted. I feel like a “3 Challenge Boost XP” would make more sense.
Perhaps this model just means that some sort of progress/performance XP is going to be implemented at some point. I think they should honestly. If you get a Running Riot or a Killionaire, why shouldn’t you get 100XP or something? Or each kill being 10 XP, common medals 5XP, uncommon 10XP, etc etc.
TheDonCJG, while I’ve heard the want for a progression based XP system (alongside challenges, a la MCC), I haven’t really heard it much specifically tied to timed XP boost. I spent some effort getting Monster promo double XP. Really strange execution to have that ultimately end up being “hurry up and beat challenges over the next 30 minutes” boost
StateKDizzy, I thought the same. Maybe a progression XP system was in talks previously or even the Monster and other XP promos were made before challenge XP system was finalized.
Agreed on wasting much of it. Even the opposite hurts… I should be excited I get an unexpected challenge complete, but bummed I didn’t activate a boost before lol.
I agree, especially since challenges don’t appear to complete mid-match. So if you complete a challenge during a match but your xp runs out during the same match, you don’t get the boost. Seems like the systems are working against each other.
