Don’t disagree on the surface, but frankly flashbacks have nothing to do with time travel. It’s just a past event that you experience as cutscene or gameplay!
Also going back in time in the same reality is technically speaking possible in physics - if moving faster than light was possible that is, which it isn’t. In Halo however slipspace travel is a thing and when used by the UNSC in the classic lore the ships actually did travel back in time. They also had to travel long distances to do so however! Apparently in newer lore this was at least partially retconed if I can trust a certain YouTuber. I guess back in the day Bungie was afraid it might be used to introduce nonsensical time-travel plot devices! But that would be almost as stupid as making Cortana the villain! Hahaha! Oh, wait…
Time Travel? Don’t think a concept like that will see the light of day in Halo. That’s not in the Forerunners abilities and I don’t think the Precursors would allow for something that outlandish. Flash backs and time travel don’t even add up.
