I honestly think in this game your going to end up going back in time or undoing the events of the past that have took place and lead up to all those deaths of spartans, ODST and other UNSC soldiers theres no way there going to have a game start off with all those existing characters we know killed off and just leave it at that! If all the UNSC has been pretty much wiped out then earth will be open for the taking by the Covenant or the banished etc and it would just be game over for everyone master chief is good but cant do all that by himself the UNSC and all the others need to exist in the universe so i find it hard to believe there going to have all those UNSC members killed off and not have us go back in time and bring them all back and restore things to the way they were! Maybe even go back in time before the events of halo 5 undoing its terrible story and giving us a chance to save Cortana before she goes totally crazy and causes the damage she has!
343i have said Halo Infinite will be a good jumping on point for new player but will also continue the story from Halo 5.
Things aren’t going to get undone by a gimmick like time travel. The books Shadows of Reach fills in some of the timeline after Halo 5 and somewhat eludes to a solution for the Cortana situation - How that’ll play out we don’t know for sure.
I think the fact that the UNSC is at their weakest now makes the story more compelling. This is a all or nothing moment for humanity and Chief is at the heart of the action - making his role and actions in the story detrimental to Humanities survival.
I hope not. I usually dislike when an existing franchise that has nothing to do with time travel randomly throws in a time travel story to fix everything. Just seems so lazy and throws away everything that happened thus far. Well not always everything but you know what I mean. The only time I enjoy time travel is when something is entirely based around it like Steins Gate. I was so disappointed when they went the time travel route in Avengers.
There isn’t going to be any time traveling going on in Infinite. The only times we see time being messed with involve a Forerunner slipspace crystal in First Strike and the Onyx shield world. However, those just created anomalies where time slowed down locally. It was like the movie Intersetllar where going to one of planets near a black hole equates to 1 hour spent there equals 7 years on Earth because of the effects of gravity. In the end, all that happened was that when Chief and the survivors of Alpha Halo went back for survivors on Reach, those on Reach were three weeks “in the past” and with Onyx while months pass after the world gets pulled into slipspace only a brief amount of time passed inside the world.
Point is, despite the shenanigans, nobody actually went back in time in a way that anything could be prevented from happening.
There will be time travel big time imo. They brought Bioshock Infinite developer for that!
Just like they brought Arkham Batman developer and we already saw his work.Batman Arkham like villains:Escharum,Hyperius and Jega Rdomnai. And there’s a grapple hook!

Time Travel is the main focus of the ILoveBees storyline that saw Melissa, the Shipboard AI of the UNSC Apocalypso, sent back in time to the year 2004.

Ah, that’s true. I keep forgetting about that one since for the longest time it was non-canon, but now apparently it is…but just how much I don’t know. I don’t
imagine 343 is going to go down that rabbit hole though.
If we can get 100 million jigawats of electricity then it is possible

For the longest time? It came out in 2004 and was canonized no later than 2006. (At least that was the first time we heard about it being canon, in an interview with Frankie).

I mean, I’m not saying there will be time travel in Infinite (or any future game for that matter), I just wanted to point out that there is precedence for it in the Halo Universe.

We are going to see some serious -Yoink-
I hope 343 doesn’t even think about associating the word time travel with Halo…just please no
i hope not time travel a lot of the times usually a cop out out of a complex story line thats been twisted and mangled (in a way of saying yes we totally -Yoinked!- up the story line but heres a do over)
Couldn’t the primordial’s time travel?

Bioshock Infinite developer ≠ Time Travel
IMO the grapple hook is just thrown in to appease the non-mobility fans than anything related to batman. “Look! It doesn’t use sprint, stabilizers, or boosters, old fashion tech for the win!”

No his body was turned to dust due to a time dilation bubble that speed time in it by billions of years.
I’d rather have a hard reboot than time travel.
No, 343 is absolutely not going to go the route of time travel.
I wouldn’t be too surprised if there were flashbacks, but I really don’t think there would be anything like time travel. Time travel has too often been used in games and television as a kind of deus ex machina. It would quite literally destroy the story and I’m certain 343 already knows that.
Great to see everyones responses and opinions on these subjects as always and just to be clear i hope this isn’t the case in halo infinite but like i said… it just seems hard to believe there going to have all those UNSC soldiers, spartans and ships gone forever along with all the other K.I.A’s that we see listed in the trailer! I just cant see them going forward from infinite with only chief and a handful of unsc survivors if that! Who will then protect earth and other colonies if theres no UNSC left?! plus i think they would recieve so much backlash for killing off so many other characters off screen or right at the start of a game… im curious to know if lasky will be alive and spartan palmer (even though i cant stand her) and osirus and blue team etc… i also think it would be a easy way for 343 to undone the terrible story line and events that was halo 5!..
no dont take away the consequences of previous games ,just makes them pointless. -Yoink- happened, its why mc fights. time travel is never a good idea. I know it was in the books with the time crystals blah , but there a reason they didn’t cary that stuff over.
