I can agree, the pelican is a beautiful troop transport vehicle
Yea me too
Combat Evolved is my favorite Halo.
Tribute has been paid, in my opinion:
-It launched the Xbox and solidified it as serious contender as a console and also became a massively successful franchise.
-Its campaign was beautifully remastered and brought to the 360
-It was brought to the Xbox One along with its original multiplayer for the first time on Xbox LIVE 13 years after it launched.
The game hasn’t been forgotten.

well put. That being said, my favorite moment is still:
“Men, we have stumbled upon something the Covenant are so hot for, that they’re scramblin over each other to get. Well I don’t care if its gods own anti-sonovabitch machine or a giant hula-hoop! We ain’t gonna let them have it! What we will let them have, is a belly full of lead and a pool of their own blood to drown in. Am I right Marines?!”
“Sir, yes sir!”
“Mhm, damn right I am.” Best intro speech ever.
also love the plasma rifle its iconicness and not pew pew

System link for multiplayer. I can’t tell you how many all nighters and LAN parties I held growing up playing CE. Loved every second of it

I grew up on Atari, NES, & SNES because I’m getting old
lol. My friends and I never really did system link, though I’m not sure why … we had several Xboxes among us, we could have. It was something we did during post band practice drinking sessions, so probably because we had instruments and equipment to haul around, so no room for TVs and Xboxes. We played in crappy punk rock bands, it was fun. We would take turns since there were more than four than us. We had 3 Duke controllers and one of the really nice newer smaller redesigns. The rule was, the winner got the nice controller. Needless to say, I never got it. I didn’t own an Xbox myself at the time, so I only got to play with them and I was still getting used to duel analog sticks since I was coming off of Perfect Dark on the N64.
There was one guy who would get so mad if you used power weapons … at all. He was a baby. Snipers, Rockets … you were a cheater. But if he found those weapons? He’d find some way to justify how him using them was more honorable and fair than how you were. lol. I wonder what those dudes are up to now.
Good times.

It’s always great hearing about memories from other players. I lived in South Korea when CE came out. My dad was in the Air Force so we were stationed at Osan, AFB. The BX (Base Exchange, basically the military Walmart) had a midnight release for the original Xbox so my father and I went. So many people were excited about the Xbox and Halo that we actually organized the first LAN party on base. Three people, myself making the fourth, unpacked our Xboxes and we hooked up to the TV’s on display in the electronics section. We ended up playing all night, close to 100 people. We had to leave about an hour before the BX opened back up for business. That’s my very first memory with Halo and Xbox, Ill never forget it.
I could go on and on with all the LAN’s and memories. There’s never been a dull moment since Xbox’s release. Its hard to believe that before Xbox, I was always playing N64 with friends. Smash Bros, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Mario Kart.
