I have been playing Halo since CE like a lot of you. I was 18 and in the Navy when it came out. Countless hours were spent on deployment in our shops conducting LAN parties. So much sleep was lost.
I like to think I’m a pretty tough guy emotionally and physically but it’s time to man up and admit it…
Who else wept a few tears at the end of H4?
Who the hell didn’t?
Chiefs’ best, and some would say only, companion slowly going insane and eventually dying, keeping only enough of herself sane to detain the Didact long enough to save Chiefs life? That’s some emotional -Yoink-, man. Also amplified by the fact Cortana looked more human in Halo 4 than any of the previous iterations.
I was 12 years old, wasn’t good in English so I didn’t. Well I haven’t cry in many many many years (or laughed).

My girlfriend saw my reaction and brought me a beer. lol
For people that have devoted so much time to the series I think we start to get a feeling like we actually know these characters. As if they were tangible and we develop our own relationships with them. I was pretty well crushed. Despite seeing her condition throughout the game the thought never crossed my mind it would go down that way. “She’s fine. She will bounce back… Won’t she?” Nope. lol
Now I just have to finish the H5 campaign to see what happens.
I didn’t cry…but the ending did shocked me. I was like : “I did not expected that…”
nope

You heartless son-of-a-gun. lol
I didn’t but I felt sad that Chief would be alone. That’s until halo 5 turned up and screwed up the emotion and messages that I felt towards chief. Now that ‘death’ is meaningless.

flattery will gain you nothing
I didnt when I was playing it, because my brother (who finished the game first) told me what happened and I was sad/angry at the same time.
Thenwhen halo 5 came out I went and played Halo 5s campaign and it kinda ruined it.
I didn’t full on weep. But that’s only because I was too stupid to not read youtube comments before the game released…
I still tear up a little every time though. Even though I (unfortunately) knew it was coming, the build up to the end and eventually pay off was so powerful. Watching one of the series most beloved characters slowly go insane and eventually die over the course of the story was really sad.
That scene was right on par with Toy Story 3, right in the feels… I’m 32 and freely admit it the single tear roll down the cheek. My wife rolls her eyes and can’t understand it… but she’s slowly getting the urge to play, lol.
Nope didn’t cry. On the bright side it’s just more proof that I’m probably part robot.

Yeah, it got me good. Enough for my girlfriend, now wife, to notice. She saw me getting a bit misty and brought me a beer. lol I’ve tried to get her to play but she doesn’t do well in shooters. She’s one of those people that can’t figure out the controls. She will be looking in every conceivable direction except for the one she should be looking in. lol She can kick some butt in Mortal Kombat though.

Funny thing is, I was close to blubbering during Johnson’s death scene in Halo 3, and doing my best to hide it… everyone was home, lol.

Ouch. lol Yeah, that was a tough one. Being around people doesn’t make it any easier to hide. lol
Halo 4 was quite far from the dumpster bomb it was displayed as by the community. The game was overall well done. and that goes for the story to as it was among the most enriching stories since reach. The ending of the game perfectly portrayed the struggle the master chief, Cortana, and the UNSC were going through. As a result, all made an incredible sacrifice to stop the greatest enemy mankind had ever seen.
However the complaint was mainly formed due to the fact this game lacked gameplay. Levels felt linear and did not provide new gameplay elements other than the mantis.
The other side of the complaint was because of poor enemy choice. The storm Covenant were not as compelling and or fight enticing as the original covenant. As for the Prometheans, it was a pretty lame excuse on 343’s part for the lack of creativity for this particular enemy. The devs constantly used over dramatic adjectives to describe a hive-mind of machines. If the Prometheans were made into what we had always known them to be as REAL forerunners the overall atmosphere of the game would have become much more intense and much more appreciated.
and lets face it nobody likes fighting robots…
I love the story and actual in-game interaction between Chief and Cortana. The Forerunner weapons and scavenging from the remains is interesting. I have fun playing, I’m just inconsistent with my gameplay… I can be head-shotting like nothing, one day, and the next will be a rookie on their first playthrough, lol.

Don’t you just wish these damn companies would figure this out by now? It seems they think everyone likes fighting robots now - see the two three newest CoDs, Gears, and Titanfall.
Good post though. Halo 4 IMO had a great story, but some of the level designs were lacking, and I didn’t love the prometheans. Didact was a cool villain, but since I didn’t do a ton of universe reading at that point in time, when I did my research it was all a bit confusing.
Dude I was a mess lmao my friends and I all did the campaign on three separate screens in one basement. And we kept pace with each other so we could end at the same time. And we were all crushed.
