Time taken to adapt to paddles? (elite controller)

It has been 3 days and it is nightmare. WAAAAAAW 3 days of negative k/d ohhhhhhhh it is getting frustrating. Fellow spartans how long did it take you to totaly get used to the paddles?
Mi config. with bumper jumper is: lift stick click: run
right bumper: action/reload
left upper paddle: thruster pack
left lower paddle: crouch
right upper paddle: melee
left lower paddle: switch weapons

I only use two paddles. It took me a few days, and a couple of times I panicked, but now I’m good.

im using green thumb. I have my grenades remapped to RB, switch grenades mapped to LB, jump mapped to back right paddle and boost mapped to back left paddle.

i contemplated adding the second left paddle for crouching, but I don’t have a problem with toggle crouch on b. I still manage to use it to duck behind cover while strafi g, because I’m usually reloading while that’s happening.

I chose to keep grenades on a bumper so that I’m not spamming them everywhere as much, causing friendly fire.

Fortunately, my GF pre-ordered mine for my B-day and I picked it up same day as Halo 5 at launch. I also use all four paddles, took about a week for me to become real proficient with it.

Only take my thumb off the stick if I want to change nades.

Sometimes I’ll back out of the lobby or party between matches by mistake when I set my controller down. Other than that, I have no problems.

Now it’s all gravy, best console controller I have ever used.

It’s worth it dude give it a week just make sure you actually like the layout

I’ve thought of how I’d use the paddles were I ever get to get them. I’ve always rolled with the Recon control scheme and It’d probably be best to configure all buttons (A. B, X and Y) on the respective paddles to remove the need for me to remove my thumb off the right stick as that can be a small issue the way it is now.
Would also make it alot easier for me to still look around while meleeing and ground pounding.

i had the same problem with nades somotimes, i just tuned the triggers so that a press is registerd 80% amd above. When i press it by mistake no nade

I only use two paddles and the default control scheme.

My right bottom paddle is mapped to boost and my left bottom paddle is mapped to crouch

It took a while to force my brain to use the paddles rather than the default button but afterwards it feels completely natural

500-700 games approx.

yes really

It took me over a week to be as good as I was before switching. After two weeks I can say I’m finally feeling the benefit. At first I was always hitting the wrong button or accidentally pressing a paddle - it’s quite a shift but worth it in the end!

Took me a good week to get used to 2 paddles. Thinking of adding a third soon. I use one of them for reloading, I felt so messed up playing some halo at a buddies place over the weekend with a standard controller.

Took me a few days actuallly. I use all 4 paddles set to just abxy. Also use the lengthened stick on the right.

Now im so used to is i dont think about it. Also now just tend to keep it that way because it feel so comfkrtable. Even if its a game i dont really need paddles i just leave everything on.

If its a game were my right thumb is mostly on just the buttons and not the thumbstick, i just turn off the paddles.

took me about a week to adapt to using the paddles effectively. Now I can’t imagine playing without them and you can pull off some awesome moves with it.

maybe about a dozen or so games for all 4 paddles. since i dont play every day, when i do play i go in a few custom games with my friends to warm up.

but its all buttah now. love it and def. a nice competitive advantage

I got my controller on December 2nd. I only use 2 paddles but I still use RB to melee I just can’t get use to it

No! Set one to toggle nades and you’ll thank me later. I have it to left paddle, but I’m a leftie.

Glad to see you guys could adjust to the paddles. The way I grip my controller, I constantly hit the paddles on accident. Really messed me in game and even menus lol.
I gave up on it, but still love love love this controller.

I use 2 paddles. Bumper jumper with thrust and aim on the paddles. The secret is to start with the layout you’re most comfortable and familiar with and then use the paddles for whatever “mid-combat” move you have mapped to the face buttons. That way, you’re not completely relearning everything.

It took quite awhile for me with the Elite Controller (especially after a ton of Halo 5 with a regular controller) but I finally had a breakthrough when I figured out that I should lower my Aim Acceleration to 2 – this made a HUGE difference in landing my head shots and giving me the same refined sense of aiming accuracy I had with the regular controller.

Here are my Settings:

(Halo 5 Default Controls)

Re-map the following:
Upper-Left Hand Paddle to Grenades
Lower-Left Hand Paddle to Crouch (crouch toggle is turned off)
Upper-Right Hand Paddle to Burst
Lower-Right Hand Paddle to Jump
Left Hand Bumper to Run
Right Hand Bumper to Melee
Trigger Stops active (set to 50% in software so the Plasma Pistol still charges)

Took me awhile to get comfortable with the Paddles and the Elite Controller (I was almost at the point of giving up) but now everything is awesome – would never go back to a regular controller after this.

I only use the two lower ones for thrust and reload on helljumper. It took me a few hours to adjust.
