Since their introduction, the Spartan IV’s have been met with a fair degree of skepticism, both by the fans and those within the universe itself (most notably Halsey) regarding how good they actually are especially in comparison to the Spartan II’s.
From what’s been put together by the community from the pictures that have been sent out and other sources, Locke’s team appears to be comprised of Buck, Romeo and Tanaka. Whilst they are bad–Yoinks!- in their own right, they are still a relatively new team. It looks like they will be tracking/going up against John, Linda, Kelly and Fred aka Blue Team; one of the most established and formidable teams in the entire Spartan project. Now we know that Spartan II’s aren’t invincible but they’ve usually been killed either fighting vastly superior numbers and/or vastly technologically superior enemies. In a fight against UNSC marines/ODST’s, we know that’s never ended well for the Spartans opponents.
So is this encounter going to end the same way or is this the moment the IV’s finally show they are worthy of being called Spartans?
Even if they are the best S-IV, they will be facing the best S-II. That can’t end well for them. There’s a huge skill gap between the upgraded ODSTs and the professionally trained, almost telepathic (they know each others strategies and adapt fast to them) supersoldiers
Yes it is. People can sit here and delude themselves all they like about how the II’s are invincible and will easily stomp Locke’s squad. That isn’t happening. The marketing material clearly shows that.
So yes, I can’t wait for the IV’s to finally show off what they can do. We’ve already seen some of what Locke can do and I can’t wait to see more. I love the II’s, but the ridiculous amount of bias surrounding them and in turn all the hate surrounding the IV’s and not having any objectivity in regards to either is putrid IMO and I’m actually really starting to resent the II’s because of it.

Main reason why people “hate” them is because of their over the top cockyness.

But there isn’t really a “their” that was one fire team.

So you’re saying that an entire branch is “over the top cocky” as you put it because of the displays and actions of one Spartan IV-Fireteam? Yea that’s certainly not generalizing.

The spartan IV’s are doomed to be forever overlooked and dismissed by the community. Just like almost everything else introduced by 343i I find it so ironic we now have visual proof of the feats a spartan IV are capable of and fans are still in such denial they find it easier to dismiss a IV’s actions as “dragon ball Halo Guardians LAWL” then just accept the truth that the new model is better “gasp” shocker right?

Theres no doubt that their armor and augmentations are better. The difference in who is the better soldier. We only saw fireteam majestic in action for the 4’s. In the field they seemed very capable but outside they acted more like any other soldier. At the end of Halo 4 we saw that Chief basically only saw himself as nothing but a soldier and nothing else. Like I said earlier it all boils down to who the better soldier is, majestic doesn’t represent all spartan 4’s, look at Locke and Palmer they are very no nonsense and Chief doesn’t represent every spartan 2. Hell even some spartan 3’s could have been better than some spartan 2’s.
The 4’s will certainly have their day. Know why I’m so certain? Because they are 343’s love child, they’ll be looked after believe me.
We all know 343 want to put their unique stamp down, for better or worse. Looking at you SPNKR and Elite armour models!
