Time for halo to evolve

It’s time for 343 to wake up to the opportunities it has in front of them, it’s time for halo to evolve, it’s being out ranked by game like apex, over watch, witch offer multiple characters, almost 20, with their own/ multiple abailities, it’s time to stop to let the past be the past, and stop trying to be bungie of the 2000’s, and time to broaden their vision, fans have had enough of only playing as Spartans, while the halo story as a whole has so much more to offer, I mean even if you had it like Star Wars battle front where you earn exp for playable characters
Exp.
Unsc = marines - ODST - Spartans
Covenant/banished = grunts - jackals/skirmish - elites/brutes - hunters
Promethians = crawlers - soldiers - knights
Flood = crawler - infected soldiers- infected knight/hunter

It’s time to open up what the community can play as, as opposed to the same old same old changing what players play against
Please 343

To be fair, if 343i was trying to be Bungie, we would have had playable Elites in H4 and H5. All of Bungie’s games (except ODST and CE) allow you to play as an Elite.

Halo has been evolving in every single title, for better and worse, which is debatable ofc.
They don’t need to “outrank” other games, or try to be like them.
Halo has an identity, they should evolve within that identity.

I thought you were talking about adding classes to Halo at first which I’m strongly against. I’d love more playable species. Maybe if they bring back playable elites they would also do Brutes since they’re the main force of the Banished. How cool would it be to have three playable species. Soldiers could also fit in their but they’re lowest priority for me. Admittedly I don’t play as an elite in any other Halo’s, I just think it’s cool that it’s there and other people can if they want to.

If you want to play a clone of those games, wouldn’t it be better to just play them instead? Given that we have more customisation options for our player models, more ways to engage another player in multiplayer, and near limitless ways to create unique maps, I would say they have broadened their horizons. Just not in the way you are thinking. It’s only a matter of time before Forge mode is nothing short of a development kit allowing us to completely alter and create our own terrain.

The trouble with multiple character models is the hitbox. Why would you want to play as a great hulking Promethean when you can play as a much smaller Spartan, Elite, or Brute?

Your problem here is what you’re suggesting is totally contrary to the Halo DNA. Halo is all about even starts and spawns. Halo 4’s MP was an aberration there because they went away from it.

Apex and Overwatch are newer and different games. Yes they have more variety, but they’re designed to.

Halo doesn’t need to be either of those games. It can be it’s own.

Spartans and Elites can be equivalent gameplay-wise. So that’s all you need

I hear you, but I have always played as an elite, and to be honest the hit box doesn’t matter to me

I still think new characters would be more flavorful, and the bigger characters give them more shields since they are stronger characters in the game story line anway, I have had the original Xbox since a kid and halo has always been my number one, but I wouldn’t mind seeing the game completely new, change is life, let the game change instead of trying to keep it as is, and that’s what I feel like it’s doing

There’s evolution and then there’s transfiguration. Change can absolutely be a positive, but too much all at once just risks your existing playerbase while having no guarantees of winning fans from other successful games.

Halo’s core gameplay has remained fairly standard throughout its history: shields, even starts, golden triangle, control of map-based power weapons, mix of slayer and objective gametypes, mix of vehicle engagements. The game which ventured furthest from that (Halo 4) in its MP did the franchise no favours because changes were made to the core DNA to chase market leaders on their own turf.

Players have been in quite an overwhelming way asking for the return of classic Halo aspects, such as the art style, and movement (which has the player base divided - I prefer the updated movement personally, exception being spartan charge lol). I think hopefully having playable Elites, and maybe even playable Brutes would be enough for Halo fans. Adding a mashup of other games is absolutely sure to invite divide and uproar over it.

Same idea hope to see a Awesome Campaign like the old Trilogy!

I’m agree on a point, there is so many characters and species, play only a spartan is ridiculous. In an additive campaign, in firefight or in multiplayer, I will love to play elites, brutes, prometheans, flood …

I do retract this statement now after play more mcc, guess I just want the elites back, but more playable characters would be nice, I’ve grown into a covenant fan more the the unsc, besides chief of course, but even a covenant campaign would be cool

Yess

To do that you’d have to account for hit boxes, general health, weapon hit/output damage, weapon mechanics (ex: recoil), special abilities if any, map accessibility, etc which wouldn’t work in a standard Halo play environment. If they figured all that out and got it to work by some miracle, then it would have to be a contained to a certain type of playlist which then I’d wonder if it would even be worth all that work in the first place.

I think that people actually like how it is now and want it to be like Bungie, that’s my opinion at least.
